  • HOW MANY FREAKING JEFFS DO YOU KNOW?!

  • tablet looks plain and boring

  • If RIM had put out the Playbook with PIM built in to begin with, it wouldn't be a dead platform right now. But I would venture to guess that RIM is circling the drain at this point. I was a loyal BB phone user for 10 years and bought the Playbook when it released, but the last phone I bought was crap and the playbook was great hardware but too many weaknesses and no app support.

  • all updates r free, smh

  • will this be a free update??

  • this is all great but have they gotten a working email app yet?

  • @DragonFallCIA - get a free app called Air Browser

  • As a Canadian I hate Blackberry. I love the iPad and iPhone. I use the iPhone at work and love it. I tried the Blackberry at work but it did not help me at all. I would love to see

    RIM RIP. Buy RIM.

  • For the love of God, GIVE US A DATE!!!!

  • is there a actual set date?

  • @MultiBobandlarry the 21st of february apparently , the big thing we're getting is a plug in for android applications so its not just the kids games and useless (to me) apps

  • @JYZProductions thanks, finally i get a straight answer. and yeah i agree pretty much ever app in app world is for kids or way over ppriced

  • Blackberry is currently having a sales offer for this device starting at $199 for the 16gb slate, and I was contemplating the idea of getting one but after reading so many negative comments of it I have decided to better wait for the Asus Eee Pad MeMo 370T, a 7" 8gb (expandable memory up to 32gb thru micro sd slot) tablet with multi- touch IPS Screen, HDMI mini out, android 4 ICS, Quad Core and more in other words a FULL POWER HOUSE for only $249 and not a PlayJunk! Who Could Ask For More?

  • THE NOTIFICATIONS LED IS BLINKING!!!!!!

  • As a Playbook owner, I'm glad RIM is moving forward. While, I'm excited for the v2.0 release, I'm not at all impressed. v2.0 doesn't introduce any spectacular features but rather features that should have been included from day one. RIM missed the opportunity to include BBM, which is one of the few things BlackBerry's are known for. Perhaps, RIM could release incremental updates to added new features instead of annual updates. At this rate, the Playbook may never have BBM.

  • Is the playbook 2 just going t obe a software update or is the device going to be different too?

  • @snowboarder1019 *facepalm* its not a new device, its a software update. you cant go out and buy a 'playbook 2'

  • @cannonwe2 thats actually so stupid of rim it should be with a new device

  • @snowboarder1019 im actually legitimately wondering how you could possibly think that making a new playbook would be smarter. they havent even completed the first one- in fact, what this update does is gives us features we should have had on lauch. the playbook skimped out on sales, so why waste more money on a different version of something that was never completed and never got many sales? THAT, my friend, would be stupid.

  • @cannonwe2 alot of people complained about the power button , alot of people complained about that they're is only a 7" and that it only comes in black, better cameras to compete with competition, people wanted video chat on bbm ,the only thing this update drives home is the email and calender app

  • @snowboarder1019 Yes, many people have complained about the power button. Anyone complaining about the screen size can go get a different tablet, because MANY people agree that the 7 inch tablet is an ideal size. Also, the playbook's camera is amazing, and they could have video chat via bbm if they wanted it.

If they released a 'Playbook 2' it would be a commercial disaster.

  • @cannonwe2 If they offered a somewhat variety of 7 and 10 inch and white or black they might get more buyers , they are for now but they could up it and add sepia /black and white and and those things that twists photos and people want video chat they should have it laready and make the BB 10 phone lineup with it too.

  • @snowboarder1019 excellent points. I think the colour could be done without releasing an entirely new playbook, though, and they don't really have the money to release another playbook anyway.

as for now, I'm very excited for this release later this month.

  • @cannonwe2 Yea , anyway when the full update comes out will the tablets in stores be upstaed to or will they not bother?

  • @snowboarder1019 remember- on first startup, you qre connected to the internet and the latest software is installed. they pretty much have othing on it before the first startup

  • When will this OS come out? I'm thinking of buying a Playbook, and I hear this OS will make it a lot better.

  • @Tyndallist This month

  • Please include a file manager. I can't delete all the stuff I've downloaded. It's ridiculous.

  • What a piece of garbage. Make the ultimate announcement that the bootloader can be unlocked so something good can be done while the hardware is still cool and current.

  • WHEN IS IT COMING OUT?!

  • @ilrg94 This month rumors point to the 17th

  • Where's my Skype on Playbook?

  • Can't wait until the update comes out. The new mailbox and calendar looks awesome.

  • Hi Mr. Grownman, what you call a kids toy the IPad has had an email app from day one just like my Android has had one since it came out of the box. As a business man i use Skype everyday. Both Ipad and Android have Skype not the Playbook. i know you do not use the following but i do, Netflix on the Playbook? NO. Hulu? NO. The Playbook is dead. do not waste your money like I did on this brick.

  • Hey i don't care I will be a blackberry user and fan forever. If I wanted a kids toy like the IPad I would buy the new Wii 2 that is coming out soon or another XBOX haha For my phone and computer needs I need a serious business style look and feel.

  • Finally dear God we are going to get email. Are they really a ton of apps? Skype? No. Netflix? No. Hulu? No. Is this Bozo for real? He talks about a Calendar as if something new, the rest of the tablets out there have had a Calender from day one. A ton of apps? Yes, Angry birds for the Playbook $5.00, Angry birds for Android $1.00. I was fool and got one of these bricks. Do not waste your money, buy anything else but a Playbook.

  • @Tom2736 the playbook also has an android store.

  • finally!

  • Some of the features in OS 2 should've been in the very first version

  • When is blackberry playbook 2 coming out?

  • @Happylikeaboss never. they barley got the first one figured out...

  • When is b

  • Again no subtitle or captions, unable to understand what it is about.

  • what about the android support??!!

  • Yeah, but what about a greater app store, a BBM client, the Android support natively, better Facebook and Twitter apps, etc. etc. ?

I bought this Tablet, and i'm happy, but i don't use it at the full potential :(

  • @risbomon There are tons of apps in app world and the place just keeps getting better and better. For reviews on the latest and greatest apps for the playbook head on over to my channel and website i made it for you guys to show you that there are tons of apps that will get all u can out of the playbook

  • watching this on my playbook and i want os 2 :)

  • I had Android and IOS, I now use Playbook with QNX, never looked back.

  • This device is so 2005...

  • Blackberry sucks look at their stock...they really do need help from Goldman Sachs, please don't emulate, innovate!

  • web Os of HP touchpad already have that email app

  • @contextraders really??

    /s

  • @MannyCompany look up email app for HP touchpad

  • I'm watching this with my playbook :D

  • @rcasey23 at the moment I have an Android through Verizon and want something differant.

  • I'm eligible for an upgrade and thinkin about either getting a blackberry or an iPhone. Depending on which one I get I'm also getting a tablet. I'm leaning toward the blackberry so I'd be getting the playbook also. The question I have is I download music to the blackberry can I upload it to the playbook like the iPhone does with the iPad using the cloud system? Can somebody help with an answer?

  • @maldovelli Go with apple.. even if the BB does that... if you do though wait until the next iPad comes out because Apple has said it will be a major advancement. Do you currently have a BB or Apple?

  • The Astonishing Tribe FTW!!!!!!!

  • @lukus2009 explain how the "growing numbers" on the calendar app is a good idea.. (facepalm)

  • @lukus2009 ever check out the SDK? Didn't think so.. It's BAD that's why their are no developers. + the os ui looks like RIM barfed it up.

  • I love my Playbook when it works, not too happy when things just quit and close, get earror messages, losed what I just typed, love the touch screen but be careful how to clean it, silly me.

I payed £169 for mine, and I love it, even if some web pages do not suit, Photobucket is hard to sign in to, have to sign in with Twitter, but better to upload photo to than Facebook, which get too many error messages, and Photobucket is full sized photos. So it just getting used to it ;)

  • Playbook is a great device. Play with it for a while and you'll know it.

  • This is a great product, more capable than a lot of tablets on the market. Great work RIM, keep it up, keep driving for better.

  • That looks like a giant phone

  • Thanks, I returned my PB and got a Transformer Prime.

  • @Fantaz21 you lost out.

  • I like the concept of the BlackBerry Playbook, but they need to really get a decent SDK to work for it rather than having to jump 40 different hoops to get it set up.

Apple's SDK program is set up very well.

BlackBerry has ALWAYS done a poor job of this, even with their current SDK offerings. They really need to make it easier for developers to get their SDK kit downloaded and --easily-- installed. I'd be a more active BB programmer if they could make their SDK work better.

  • @BitgateMobile its not that hard anymore. find something else to complain about

  • 0:06 0:12 0:16 why i have the feeling that the guy on the left will kiss the other one :D

  • im still waiting for the day that Microsoft buys you guys out..

  • Facepalm. RIM.. more like RIP!

  • @iMeerkatCS you have no idea. nice name, obviously an apple troll

  • @Lukus2009 Sorry it took me 6 days to respond i'm commenting via my Playbook. (Facepalm)

  • You can buy a 32GB Playbook for $249, but soon you can get an Asus Tegra 3 (Nvidia) tablet for $249... which one is better?

  • @Fantaz21

    The asus tablet for sure.

  • @Fantaz21

If your into mobile gaming than you definitely want anything with a Tegra chip in it.

  • @Fantaz21 Playbook is REALLY business oriented. When The Asus Tegra is a multi purpose tablet with Amazing Spec. Spec wise, Asus Tegra 3, Multimedia wise, Asus Tegra 3, portability wise, Playbook. Overall Asus Tegra IS the better tablet.

  • @Fantaz21 playbook of course,

  • hurry up and die RIM

  • Umm why is facebook missing from the social integration in the contacts & calendar?

  • Blackberry forever!! and its just the beginning...

  • This is garbage. RIM still produces pagers. RIP RIM

  • PUKE!

  • Its about time blackberry.

  • I want Black Berry messenger without bridge because I aint got a blackberry phone!

  • why cant i answer calls using my playbook yet??????? i use playbook as a 100% liesure thing. also as you can tell i would love spell check....lol. better bridge browser is also high on my list its a little slow, other than that i love it

  • @ggqbc Spell check will be in OS 2.0. :)

  • @journeytoislam That's wrong. App World has a lot of games and apps now, you can tether the internet from your Android phone or iPhone to it, it can run Android apps, and it has a native Email app and calendar app coming in 2.0 that is more robust than Android's or Apple's.

  • @WelfareSymphony You are right, I will remove my comment. Thanks for the correction, I will add thou the app's are expensive compared to android and ios.

  • @journeytoislam That is true, they are more expensive, but I think that's due to the lack of ads. I haven't noticed any in any of the apps I've downloaded.

  • It costed me $125. Meh... I don't have to waste another $300 for an high quality product

  • sad when our world is trying harder to push Twitter ... social my *** ...

  • @DeViLzzz2006 I had twitter, got it when I was 12 like Sweet, I got more people following me radomly and might even see some cool stuff. About a couple months later I deleted it for the reason you mention. Now I am actually thinking about getting one again since I can now some real News updates from the sources I like to here from (not famous people). If its all in some Nice widget on my future samsung phone then that will be Awesome!

  • @ddog388112 totally agree .... ridiculously small screens on BB's stuff

  • @WelfareSymphony not when Asus' 7" quadcore comes out at $249....lol but i see what u mean

  • @Luger718A1 Business users will still prefer the Playbook. The Playbook can run Android apps, it's a hell of a lot nicer looking, and it's App World is getting better by the day. At 50 bucks less It's not going anywhere. ;)

  • Dear 420, tablets are for me. I have 2 IPads one Iconia a100, one Brand new 7inch Toshiba, one Kindle fire and Two nooks so I think I know a bit about tablets and the Playbook is junk. 2.0 is too little to late. Would you like to buy my Playbook? It's only 3 weeks old and it's never been used.

  • @Tom2736 just cause you own all these devices doesnt mean you know anything about technology, security and functionality. ipads - tablets for the dummies with average hardware. android is great i wont knock it, but open source means too many secuirty vulnerabilities and ads...

  • @imascare Why is it that only on the Blackberry do you need another phone and a bridge to get your mail? I don't have a blackberry phone. I can get my mail on my kindle fire, on my nook tablet, on my toshiba, on my iconia a100 any time and no bridge needed. Sorry Blackberry this is to little to late. The ship is long gone.

  • @Tom2736 you have no idea.

  • For all those haters, search up the comparison of the blackberry playbook against the ipad 2 and u will see for yourself

  • Wish it hadn't taken them almost a year to put those features in. I bought a PB at $300 when they went on sale...but it had a couple dead pixels, so I returned it. Even the Touchpad had those apps...I just shrug. I want to like BB...but they make it so hard.

  • @WelfareSymphony at the sale price it really is the best you can buy. Else get the Fire for the same price, with no cameras, worse speakers, half the storage, no hdmi...

  • @michaelkogan987777 no doubt

  • @WelfareSymphony isnt it 299?

  • If you dont like the Playbook STFU and go some where else!!!

  • Look at his smile at 4:08 who gave the playbook description....

  • The BlackBerry Playbook is just crap! All of them I've gotten had dead pixels and dust inside the screen! RIM just needs to die out just like there tablet...just returned them and got a kindle instead! So glad I did too!

  • @FatalArmyStaff sorry about your luck I own three and they're all fine. You do know that all companies pump out bad units, it's factored into their gross-margin. Hell I return 5 nintendo ds's due to screen issues. You don't think anyone's ever returned a defective ipad??

  • I have a Playbook and I have only used it for one hour since I got it in Dec. There is really nothing to do with it. No mail, Angry Birds is 4.99 same game in Amazon is 1.00. Playbook is junk and is dead. Do not spend your money on it.

  • @Tom2736 There are no ads to make the games cheaper.

  • @Tom2736 Maybe tablets just arent for you? Or maybe I'm wrong. However I do believe that just because tablets suddenly exist, doesn't mean that everyone even has a use-case for it, but we're all compelled to get one. Cellphones hadnt been expensive for many many years but when i first got one no one else really saw the use-case. I use my PB all the time, music, podcasts, streaming video, (cant ustream native on an ipad) games, ebooks, porn, mediapc, I use it for work meetings especially

  • They should make Android player support more apps. I'm pretty sure there are 3rd party Email client and calendar. Or port Cyanogenmod Android rom onto Playbook. With dual boot ofc. Thats my opinion.

  • calendar. wow. what an upgrade..

  • so..does this thing actually play? i mean besides nfs...what does it actually play?

  • Been using these features on my WP7 since day one lol Great to see the Playbook getting what it should have had a year ago. Makes me happy I made the purchase.

  • OMG That is awesome. Buying the PlayBook in late December was the best decision I ever made (it feels like the OS is getting an upgrade right away, lol)

  • This was originally supposed to be out at the end of summer which is why i bought my playbook so long ago. Hopefully it comes out in February (early) because there are about a million playbook users waiting on this.

  • cant wait!!!!

  • i have os 2.0 but get none of this stuff?!?

  • @SuperLee1417 ...youre using the developers beta.. its not supposed to have the clients

  • @SuperLee1417 You only have the OS 2 Beta preview. It contains none of this and was only meant for Android app testing etc.

  • @crwblyth i know, but its stupid, they should include it. and theres no good android apps available with a few acceptions.

  • @SuperLee1417 Stupid? It was NOT a public release, it was a public beta, it stated before you downloaded it "This version of OS 2.0 does not contain end user features such as: email, calendar contacts, video store, etc."

  • @crwblyth i know it did, but they should have included it, so people can try it out!

  • @SuperLee1417 That would destroy the hype surrounding its release.

  • @SuperLee1417 My advice, jail break it and install the real android market place.. that's what i did :)

  • So, the features RIM promised last year around this time, is here now? WOW! We only had to wait ~12 months!

  • @MadDogMeh ? yes the features rim somehow promised 4 months before the product even launched is here now... Who cares i still like it more than an ipad 2. You really suffered from not typing email on a virtual keyboard? poor you.

  • @doobiest420 Its funny how you support a company that pretty much lied to your face. I don't care what kind of troubles they're in, I have the PlayBook and I hate it, its buggy and unstable. If RIM can't make proper devices, they shouldn't

  • @MadDogMeh um besides the point. All I was pointing out is that your statement was erroneous. I like my playbook. 2.0 has the best browser, most stable flash support and highest html5 score compared to apple and android. Facts are facts. You're allowed to like what you want.

  • @MadDogMeh Anyway we all support companies who lie to our face.

  • @doobiest420 I suppose that's true

  • @MadDogMeh agree it took ages, but what all the other vendors and manufactures lack is security...blackberry have a reputation to adhere too, apple and android have always been comprised on day 1 of OS releases...and don't have much in the way of rememediating their issues..hence no FIPS compliance

  • @imascare Well personally, I don't send out confidential information, so security is an issue but not a big one for me.

  • @imascare BB jailbreak is a prime example where unbreakable was broken, patched, and broken again. Jailbreakers did it as proof of concept since nothing can run on Playbook other than blackberry proprietary and even BB knows they had to crossover and support android apps if they needed survival..

Playbook is beautiful hardware, but small screen, jailed apps..killed it. Need a BB device to bridge and get email ? Even apple can see android is truly the threat that cannot be ignored..
