@ASFX07 I'm thought maybe you were correct, but with the volume right up it sounds like they are singing the right notes, but that the bass part in the organ goes a,b, c# then rejoins the basses on the d. I'll check when I have a copy in front of me and can check the organ part!
@eatpoll There's no question - you're definitely right about the organ part. The bass notes in the organ part are indeed A, B♮, C#, D. You have better ears than me, though, as try as I might I still can't hear the basses on their C#.
@StephF777, as an ex choirboy I understand @morphthing1's comment, but as the father of two girls I know where you're coming from.
Boy trebles have a unique voice which is at its very best for a short period of time just before breaking. Girls' voices change much more gradually over several years.
I'm not in favour of mixed choirs, but girl choirs are every bit as good as boys and your last sentence sums it up well. Good luck with your GB and let us know how you get on!

These are great videos for rehearsing choral works to. It's just that I'd like to have the 'page turns' a fraction of a second earlier or a short 'cross dissolve' to aid site reading ahead! Great stuff though!

Wesley composed so many fine anthems, and this, to my mind, is one of his best. His place as one of the most significant 19th century church composers is well deserved. We'll be performing this as part of our Ash Wednesday service.
I'm in the roder boys choir, we also sing this song. if somebody else also sings this What is the mistake you make the most?

@waldenhouse According to the website Manchester Cathedral Choir trebles are mixed boys and girls (unusual and somewhat sad in my view) so, yes!

The Wilderness is my favourite anthem of Wesley's. Not often performed by Choirs enough.
