I have this strap and I am also a rock fan but I like slapping shit and its difficult to position a proper thumbpluck if the bass is low. so I am not Flea but I like his bass prowess.

Yeah, he slaps the strings with his thumb almost perpendicular... its how he keeps speed and gets those dead notes in there... you thump, so you need the thumb parallel to the strings to pick with the thumb

I wear my strap down a bit lower then you, but i slap more aggresively.

Sounds like its definatly a jazz bass by the punchyness of the sound. precision basses are a little lighter, more for shredding clean riffs. So yeah you got yourself a jazzbass, nice playin too.

Sorry for my long treply but your short comment amde me think a lot. honestly man, I am not that good at all in making tabs. It will take me a long time for this. I just live here in China because I was expatriated as an engineer 1.5 yrs ago. I got bored, played the bass and tried uploading. Its too raw to be tabbed anyway. I dont practice the music i do here, all improvised. I just randomly choose the beats in the zoom B1 effects and then play and switch my N91 Nokia video on.

I know its boring but yes it is my life now. I played in a band before - an acid jazz band in the Philippines during college days when i am not teaching archery and when there's no training in triathlon. I earn money on it but I really miss playing in the band. I'm in Shanghai right now wherein the night life is great and lots of band, sometimes I jam when it is open for public jam. hehehe, sounds pathetic but it makes me feel better.
