  • 06:37 that blanket scene irritates me so much since its exactly what my mom does. She won't say what she is really thinking but she has that tone like we should know what she is thinking. *joins Jackie and Roseanne in the screaming*

  • they always did bev wrong lol

  • The really made Al into this evil guy who beat his kids in the later seasons. He doesn't come off like that in these first episodes.

  • @intoxxxicologist Just like in Bonnie & Clyde.

  • lmao "how many blankets u want"

    "two is fine"

    Roseanne/Jackie-freak out! Lmao!!!

  • Becky's idea was the best.

  • "you kids ARE our corny lil sex jokes" lmao pwn

  • Once that kid David moved into the basement the show went downhill. Before that it was genius.

  • Omg! Hevan for bid a woman isn't married in her 30's! Here comes the rivers of ash and hell freezing over!

At times I can't stand my parents, but I would commit suicide if I had THOSE parents!

  • 9:34 Anyone notice the shadow that crosses over Roseanne?

  • @ScaredMoon prob the mic

  • "Eggs, milk... bullets" LMFAO

  • In a later episode roseanne said that her dad was jewish...it would have been interesting if the show had gone deeper into that part of her background

  • If Bev was my mother, I would NEVER have any contact with her, regardless of having kids. What a bitch!!!

  • soo frikin true!!!

  • @kssmith ****CHEERS****

  • i wish i could erase this series from my mind so i could start watching it all over again. ive seen every episode like 10 times!!

  • Same here!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @kssmith20 it kind of sucks how it was all made up at the end by Roseanne,i hate that part of it but other then that i love the show..

  • Haha, I wanted to say that last time I watched this.

    mustard ftw!

  • i loved the first two seasons...after a while the show kind of goes down hill...like becky running off to get married...david moving into the basement...then dan dies...i hated that about the show...dan and roseanne was just the perfect couple...their life wasnt perfect but they loved each other still...

  • it's funny that you say that their life wasn't perfect, but sometimes I watch this show and I envy their life. There was so much love on this show.

  • dan dies?! i just discovered this show and im watching all of the episodes from the very begining

  • @MaggieSparklies lucky you.(get ready for some serious crying( and laughing of course))

  • @mscatshell i agree w everything and after the first 2 sesons it wasnt as funny eather

  • @mscatshell There was more then 2 good, maybe half. God could you even watch the last few? I can't soooo bad

  • @mscatshell to tell you the truth by the fourth some of the fifth season i wsnt even interested in the rest of the seasons

  • Bev gets on my nerves esp her attitude towards roseanne and jackie

  • Milk,eggs,bullets...lol....I love Dan!

  • this is when the show was still good

  • Well i think they protray him like that later on in the show cuz there child hood comes out more in the season and in the first season her parents arent in it alot so it never had to come out

This is the best show ever

  • I think Becky's idea was the best re: sleeping arrangements: Beck and Darlene on the cots and the grandparents in their beds. I can't imagine those cots felt comfy for someone Dan and Roseanne's size.

  • I find it odd, how Roseanne and Jackie seem to get along with Bev so well in the early episodes, and later they act so cruel and say they hate her. What happened?

  • even stranger is the fathers role in the show..in the beginning they all seem to love him, and then for dramatic purposes, later on in the show, they paint him to be an abusive parent.

  • I was just thinking the same thing. This episode really proves your point,

  • I think cause as the show grew, Roseanne had more control in writing and was more interested in pursuing "forbidden" sitcom topics. The earlier episodes incorporated Roseanne's stand up bits but I think it was mostly run by the less-adventurous writers and producers.

I think overall the earlier ones were better. It's still grounded in reality but it's fun. The later episodes got too mean - I didn't like Roseanne as much...still funny but she was no longer someone I'd want to know in real life.

  • Yes, and I always felt so bad for Bev in the later episodes. Everyone treated her like she was some witch.

Speaking of Bev's treatment, why does Jackie tolerate Roseanne's criticisms and controlling nature even though it was that same behavior from Bev that caused so much hate between them?

  • My guess is that Roseanne looked out for Jackie more than Bev so Jackie tolerates it. She talks a lot about how Roseanne always sort of held her under her wing but Bev was more the type to criticize the girls and then just stand in the corner and watch it all happen because she was just "the little wife" of the family.

  • That makes sense.

One thing I noticed was that after Jackie and Bev had that little make-up episode, they weren't as hostile toward each other. Jackie still avoided her, but they seemed more civil.

Didn't Jackie even arrange for Bev's crush to dance with her after Bev accused Jackie of stealing him from her?

  • @XavierAXB Jackie tolerated Roseanne's criticisms and controlling nature because her criticisms and control was what she needed. Between jumping from job to job and man to man, Jackie needed (and wanted) Roseanne to be the biggest part of her life because no one else could provide her stability. And to Jackie, Roseanne's dominance over her life, however controlling it might have been, gave her stability in the worst of times. In the end, Jackie Harris made chaos seem tragic, but funny.

  • That's weird, the mother is picking on both her daughters and they react (granted behind her back... well, the refrigerator) negatively and hostily. They don't seem to like their mother in this episode. The mother is emotionally abusive (talking about her daughters behind each others back) and by suggesting that they'd be moving nearby and then deny it and cover it by saying that they were just joking. I don't disagree on how Roseanne or Jackie treat their mother later. She deserved it.

  • It's true that Bev says hurtful things to them and she did emotionally bully Jackie. But I've been wondering if it was intentional? Her actress' performance makes it seem like she's somewhat oblivious to how her treatment affects her daughters.

  • They purposefully made Bev a bit of a hairbrain - it's a commentary on the way the girls grew up in an abusive home. Bev is a parody of a woman driven nuts by women being put in their place for so long. She's somewhat jealous of the freedom her daughters appear to have.

  • boing!

  • Yea why don't you try one of these things called chairs..... lol I love it

  • Why are some of these vids not available in my country, yet the rest are? They are all from the same user-I don't get it.

  • This episode actually makes me appreciate my own parents...

  • let me get this straight, we need Milk? Eggs? Bullets?

    haha!

    and... 6:45, lol

  • I love how Roseanne's father was so ancient looking, even looking older than Roseanne's own grandma.

  • i agree...first n that episode the visit there old house...the memorys of their father were BAD and now..laughin an wateva...i wonder if tha writers did that on purpose to see if we pay attention like those lil things they do in movies these days...i love this show! mad funny

  • naw they just werent thinking

there's a bunch of stuff on roseanne like that

like on the episode "no talking" roseanne told jackie she read her diary then jackie said "my scarlett diary?" roseanne said yeah and jackie said "i never had a scarlett diary"

then on an episode later on "dream lover" jackie got mad and said "you read my diary?"

but roseanne is my all time favorite best show ever

  • haha funny you said that cause i just watched dream lover yesterday and was like DUH jackie knows she read her diary lol

  • actually she knows rosanne DIDN'T read her diary

  • right right....ive seen every episode millions of times....i wasnt thinking, thanks for the obvious correction :)

  • They first portrayed Roseanne's dad as a jolly man, then as an abusive cheating bastard. Weird.

  • My parents had kitchen chairs just like those ones. Great show. They dont make them like this anymore.

  • The kitchen chairs or the shows?

  • To all the people who have put these shows on YouTube I owe ye a MASSIVE thank you!!! Everyone needs a laugh and Roseanne certainly gives it to me. Thanks again!

  • Roseanne:I calll-

    Becky:It's not your turn mom.

Roseanne:I know but it's my house.

    ROFL!!!!

  • 6:43-47 - I SO know how that feels. XD
