A quarterback must at the very least be quick and agile in the pocket to side step the rush and find passing lanes. In addition to that, speed is a great luxury for a quarterback to have so he can make plays even when everything breaks down and theres no where to throw

But what matters is, can the QB deliver long passes into the Endzone.. They don't look at Size anymore, its accuracy. 5 foot 4 guy who weighs 112 can play in the NFL as long as he can throw. Being fast has nothing to do with being a QB, a QB's task is to throw the ball.. Leave the HB do his job.

@papano12 Incorrect. I realize that you're making a bit of a exaggeration with your example of the 5'4" 112lb quarterback but in the NFL being too small is a definite concern for teams. It's a given that if you play QB in the NFL you're going to get sacked by 300+lb men at full speed. If you're tiny you're going to get crushed, and probably will be out with an injury after the first sack. Also height is very important because it greatly improves QB vision and ability to throw over DL and LB.

I have QB for very long time and I do NOT understand why he said "I was not throwing to you, I was throwing to a spot". My coach always to me to throw to the WR, not to the spot. They've been throwing so much that it's just second nature and muscle memory that has evolved in their body/ But they still have to go to many camps every year so it's training non-stop for them so they never really "don't know" how to throw good.
