I was there that night, we were as fucking high as the sky on cocaine and Jack Daniels, exactly what the band was on then I think. I used to duck tape a 750 ml bottle in the middle of my back under my shirt. Essential to create the right mood. We couldn't even begin to buy enough beer..... had to be whiskey for our kinda ride..... They never found it once.

DLR comes out and goes, "...we got new lights and a new show, but we've got the same Fucked Up attitude." It was one big party!

you mean the accelerating "doublebassdrum" - we'll actually it's a bit disappointing, it's played with sticks on a digital drumpad. semi-special effect. (If you listen closely you can hear the moment he changes from single-strokes to double-strokes/rolls.)

additionally, IIRC you can see Alex play a pad to the same effect on 1985's 'live without a net' video. (which is pretty close to 1984. ;-))

@Ptasoka Alexis Van Halen used a chain driven set-up to get that effect at the beginning.

@romaneberle Sorry, I replied in the wrong spot, that's actually a chain driven set up on the foot pedals of the drum. I don't know anything about drums but I remember reading about it back in the day. He had it hooked up to a strobe light in concert, it was an incredible effect.
