  • @XXculbertXX I want to hug you right now....finally someone else agrees!

  • Should someone explain to this guy that Thornley plays guitar for Nickelback?

Not (in) Nickelback... but he plays on their records, and yes, they have covered his songs. I'm not sure Ian would appreciate this guy doggin' on Nickelback...

  • Rolling down the highway, rolling down my window, slowly whip my dick out and play with it as it grows

  • sick bastard

  • @MusicIsAwesomeIPost <-------- FAILS

  • Gotta love the people that shit all over any musician just because they get a little commercial success. Judge whether or not you like the song for yourself. Don't assume his music now sucks just because he's getting more press.

  • in your mind.

  • Burn forever you non believers.... Big Wreck and Thornley ARE the greatest bands to EVER come out of Canada, undisputed, hands down !!!!! Who cares if he is under Chad's label. THIS SHIT F"N ROCKS. Nuff said..

  • Rush begs to differ.

  • totally agree with you !

  • cale sounds like adam

  • fuck yourself thornley is nothing like nickelback...ian thornley is a musician and a genius.

  • also, go listen to big wreck right now

  • Thornley used to be Big Wreck, he has been around for awhile, you must be new here

  • thumbs up

  • These guys were in Winnipeg for rock on the range. They were awesome live.

  • Duuuuuude, ur hilarious i gav u a thums up!!:P

  • great band live... cant say a bad thing about them..big wreck wa the shyt

  • Big Wreck was huge in Canada before Nickelback ever came along, and if it wasn't for the break-up of Big Wreck, Thornley wouldn't exist. Even without the help of Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, they could've been signed on to a label anyways.

  • Typical uninformed comment by someone who doesn't know sht about anything that happened before 2005. I urge you to check out Big Wreck's "In Loving Memory..." Great album.

  • nickelback wouldnt exist if it wasnt for creed nuff said

  • @dontsextreme

Implying Nickleback isn't the biggest pile of shit in existence.

  • I drank with these guys in Kelowna

  • awesome hooks in this song. We play air guitar and sing like a rockstars to this song. "I've got this film in my head.....

  • thornley really needs to get on itunes its getting really annoying cuz i cant get itunes canada!!

  • Download Limewire then just drag the song from Limewire into Itunes! thats what i do for all my songs, then i stick em on my ipod!

  • Limewire is obsolete. It's all about torrents.

  • MP3 ROCKET

  • true! BUT, limewire is ten times better for ONE song, espically if it is a tough find.

  • But good torrent uploaders allow you to pick and choose which songs from an album you want. If you only want two or three songs from an album, you can deselect the other songs. Now that more and more people are using torrents, hard to find tunes are just as easily accessible. Plus, quality control is better. I agree that Limewire was the place to be, but it's obsolete now.

  • granted, I am aware of that AND it is harder to trace for anal music corporate whores to shut down (now that I think out loud, I can't believe limewire doged all of the crap P2P networks got)

but comon, how lame is it just to DL a torrent for one fuckin song? kinda pointless. Plus, I can find stuff that I couldn't on torrent (or anyway, I USED to be able to, Limewire is really losing it lately)

  • The torrent file size doesn't remain the same if you download only one song. So, in downloading one song from a torrent, you're downloading only one song.

"Limewire is really losing it lately." Exactly.

  • FROSTWIRE FTW

  • Waaaaaaayyyy too commercial, what happened to music seriously...fuck

  • Ian thornley slept on my couch onetime after a college show they did, maybe they were tired of not making any money

  • Thornley is the best thing that has ever to come out of Canada!!!!!!!!!!!

  • didnt know their canadian haha man we got some good bands.. theory of a dead man is effin awsome 2

  • wow easy there bud. not quite if you wanna talk music check stan rogers or great big sea and as far as entertainment trailer park boys. Sorry but this doesn't even come close.

  • Thornley is the shit!!!!!!

  • big wreck is way better then nickle back

  • Big wreck makes nickle crack cry!

  • You make English teachers cry!

  • What, you don't dig Nicklecrack?

  • Its cool how he records and plays all his studio instruments himself but has a band when he tours. Such a talented guy.

  • Nice little Canadian band that doesn't get enough attention compared to some of the other Canadian trash on the airwaves.

  • A certain Grunge Rock Band Came to Mind When i read this.

  • I COMPLETELY agree with you

  • The other version sounds alright, this one is called the "west coast mix". I like this one better.

  • Good Tune!!

  • yeah you know, I dunno why someone thought this sounded like nickelback when thornley has their OWN sound. Also, I think Thornley is 99999 times better than Nickelback so don't be saying they sound the same!

  • they are both great bands, and actually good friends. AND thornely is signed to chad krouger's record label.

  • Agreed NickelBack Sucks nuts but Thornley is the shit.

  • this doesnt sound like nickelback but nickelback are still amazing

  • Nickelback are like the reason that Thornley exist...think about it, no Chad Kroeger,no 604 records,no Thornley. But I do agree with one thing...Thornley kicks ass!

  • nickleback sucks major asshole thornley rules

  • anyone that thinks this sounds like nickleback is a tone deaf brain dead idiot. also, I'd love it you tards would stop using the phrase "Sell-Out", see most people use this phrase when a certain artists starts selling more albums or becomes largely successful but you all forget why musicians produce albums instead of playing at open mic nights in some run down grease pit bar, TO SELL FUCKING ALBUMS.

  • thornley doesn't sound like nickleback at all

  • awesome

  • thornley is sick

  • Nickelback used to open for Ian Thornleys last band Big Wreck. They even sing "What a Mistake" at some of their concerts.

I have been a fan of Ian Thornley for many years, I agree wtih the last poster they have their own unique sound. I like this song and cant wait to get the new album.

  • It's not selling out at all, and I can tell his voice from Chad of Nickleback with great distinction. People need to seriously move onto complaining about something else... they're not "selling-out" considering they have their own unique sound and this album is a continuation of it. Grow up pirateradioman.

  • Ya, it does sell.

    It's also known as "selling-out"

    Oh well.

  • Why! does he sound like Nickleback?...Well,...unfortunely.....it sells. dont get me wrong here, I enjoy Thornely style!!!..... be it music, the car industry,etc...everyone needs to do, what they have to do.Thanks for the posting.

  • The limited creative market that Chad has carved out for himself is a proven powerhouse.

And record labels love producers who clone their own sound vicariously through other acts.

Enter...the cloned sound of Nickelback in bands like Theory of a Deadman, Thornley, Default, etc.

  • I making perfect sense here.

    No hablo English?

Again, Thornley is under Nickelbacks/604 Records now. Ian is now a clone act.

They sound one in the same.

    Same hooks, same melodies.

    I'm just stating the obvious.

It all sounds like one big Nickelback song.

Not because of who plays on the album.

But that does add to the fact that it has that manufactured Chad K. sound.

It's like Mutt Lange in the 90's with every album he produced. Mutt made a dozen artists sound like one big Def Leppard song.

  • love this song sooo much and i think these guys are one of the best canadian bands except i like marianas trench better :)

  • Just to put things in perspective:

10 years ago Ian and "Big Wreck" were on the bill for New Year's Eve (1999) with KISS, playing in front of thousands and thousands at B.C. Place in Vancouver, Canada.

    What the Hell Happened?

  • i just went out to the record store a couple days ago and i have to say THIS IS THE BEST ALBUM I HAVE BOUGHT IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!!!! GO BUY IT EVERYBODY AND SUPPORT OUR CANADIAN ROCKERS!! and whoever says this smells like nickelback obviously hasn't heard the whole album... this cd kicks the shit out of nickleback and mostly every other band for that reason... by far the best canadian act out there as far as i'm concerned....si go out there and BUY A DAMN THORNLEY CD!!!

  • Ian is tired of playing smokey bars, and wants to cash out with some radio oriented rock.

  • Smells like Nickelback.

  • How come if there is a rock band from Canada everyone pops up with "Nickelback"

Thornley is refreshing in that most of their songs are not just the generic rock formula. They are original and have melodies/lyrics unlike other songs.

Only Theory of a Deadman can be dismissed as generic nickelback..

  • Ian Thornley recorded all guitars down on the record including lead and rhythm guitar as well as bass guitar. Daniel Adair, drummer from Canadian rock band Nickelback, provided drums on the album. Chad Kroeger, also of Nickelback, co-wrote a track on the album with Ian Thornley.

Thornley signed on to Kroeger's 604 Records just after he broke up with BIG WRECK.

So...ask me why I think it sounds like Nickelback, again?

  • Hmmm... how many bands have had "guest" atrists on their albums in the past?? Too many to count i'd imagine. I doubt that you would say that those bands all of a sudden sounded like the guests bands. Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top worked and sang on Nicklebacks album and as a huge ZZ fan I would not say that they sounded like ZZ Top. Get a clue! Thornley has his own sound and it's clearly not Nicklebacks!! Keep your interesting tibits to yourself and use them when they make more sense. thx!

  • WOW I think cuteangel182 just got SERVED!!!!!!

  • i love this song, i heard it and fell in love instantly, and as for Thornley, yeah well i kinda love them too :P they are amazing! <3

  • Amazing song!

  • finally im so sick of only seeing live versions

  • i love thronley!!! i have ll their albums!! wow and i got to meet the lead singer because he came to play at my dads work! hes so down to earth and awesome

  • luv this band, but it sux tht the only versions tht i can find of their song in youtube is the live version!!others all are taken off because of copyright issues!!

  • how bout you actually go out and buy the cd..bet you never thought of that one

  • Hey Einstein...speaking as someone who tried to do just that...that would be a GREEEAT Idea...except Thornley's record company has made it damn near impossible to get unless you live in Canada. Thank god for this dealer on Amazon Canada, or no telling how long I'd have to wait. How bout you not open yer mouth until you know all the facts? I'll bet you REALLY never thought of that.

  • johnsoncd = spazz

  • wow those are some pretty harsh words.. and nice effort i'll give ya that... but did you know that thornley has a WEBSITE!!!! YES!! and on that website you can actually order a cd!!! wow very ingenious i'd say... keep up the good work buddy, maybe you should do your bookwork next time too eh?

  • Love how he finally came out with some new stuff. And it's good stuff too.

But i agree with a comment in the video of them playing this live... about how he should distance himself from other bands like Nickelback. Establish his own style, intead of sounding like any other alternative band... but none the less oing a good job

  • Comment removed

  • I went and saw these guys a couple of times and I love their live performances and love love the writing!!!!!!! FUCKIN' EH, CHEERS.!

  • THIS IS AN AMAZING SONG

  • Geez, Ian needs to distance himself from Chad Kroeger and 604 Records.

It's all starting to sound like one big, never ending Nickelback song.

Ian, you have better chops then this.

Think back to "In Loving Memory Of", when your sound was unique.

Now you've gone and put yourself in a the middle of a pile of clone bands that all sound the same.

And for what? A bigger check adn more radio play?

You misplaced your roots. Uh oh.

  • Did you listen to the whole album or just make a generalized opinion on one listen to one song? This song is way better than anything Nickelback does, and as for the rest of the album, Ive never heard Nickelback use a steel guitar or give music the soul that Thornley does!!

  • And you've got a pic of Ian in the Big Wreck days with Dave Henning on bass. I do LOVE those days.

  • Good album quality, but not the album track. This is the "West Coast" version of the single. VERY different from the album track that was played last week on Can radio.

  • I just snagged it off of their myspace. Same version that was played on the fox here.

  • how do you download it off their myspace?
