So...I'm guessing when this car comes out, the SL we see now will not exist along side of it in the production line. A replacement of the SL.

well - not exactly - SLS is an attempt on challenging cars like Ferrari 458 Italia, Lamborghini Gallardo 560-4 and Porsche 911 GT-2 - it won't replace SL of course... after all - it's only a coupe - more like a succesor of SLR...
