Hey Slurper, If you ditched Avast you might get better performance as it is a resource hog but no where near the resource pig that Nortons is. Hey to all if you want performance and you have Nortons installed, uninstall it and watch you performance go up. Use something like Microsoft's Security Essentials with Malaware as your antivirus and they are both free and they hardly impact on your system unlike the big payware programs

I think it could. The OS isn't what decides how smooth games run, but the specs of the computer itself.

I run a dualboot Win7/Ubuntu machine, I can game perfect in Win7 but if I load Ubuntu forget it, it's tedious at best. I just wish Win7 didn't come w/ alot of the garbage that it comes with. Yes I agree there but I meant the performance between this and regular XP is actually quite a lot. Gamer's Edition has much lower requirements so it can use those saved resources to better run games.

Yes but an Asus Maximus Extreme IV is a newer motherboard; I meant older computers. Even if they had the socket, there would be power upgrades and in the long run putting an i7 in an old system is just not worth it.

A theme can be used for any version of most OSs. An XP theme would probably work with this.

You must burn it to a disk, then boot your computer from the disk and then just follow the install instructions. Do you want to wipe your existing OS or emulate Gamer's Edition?

Yes this will run pretty quickly depending on what you are trying to do. It will run considerably faster than XP retail, and is great for an old or slow system. And I do explain how to use flash drive as RAM in my video, but it does not speed it up that much. I was planning on making a video of it, though.

Do you mean convert it while installing a new OS? If you convert a hard drives format, such as NTSC to Fat32, you will erase all the contents of your hard drive. If thats what you want, then it should work with no errors.

You must install the drivers. There could be a problem with the disc or CD/DVD drive. Is it scratched? What exactly happens. You could also go on a friend's computer, download the drivers onto a flash drive, and run them from there. You must have computer access somehow if you posted this. I will gladly give you the driver link(s). What is your computers model?

thanks man, followed the instructions, but i burned with Roxio 2010 (24x speed) This worked really great on my Toshiba Satellite A65-S126. (256mb RAM, 2.8 ghz Celeron CPU. installed in about 13-15 mins max. OS runs surprisingly fast. Just using this for office applications.

1)DX9 will work, I am not sure about DX10 as this is technically XP. There is a hack to get DX10 to run on XP, but it many games will not work with it.

2)Network should work as I have been told by people that it does. When I said it may not work I really meant that you would have to install the drivers yourself, as they do not come on the disc.

@Slurpershaker if you get black xp (wich is about the same but has some more features wich require a little more ram) it runs dx10 and all the other stuff because it combines some of the stuff from vista and some of the stuff from xp overall if you want a good operating system that combines the simplicity of xp and the usefull programs of vista get black xp
