  • it really sounds like a video game XD

  • Shes a ninja shes not suppose to meet the sword >.> shes suppose to avoid the sword and use her large dagger or ninja-to to attack her oponent while he uses his heavy sword to swing around (pref so heavy that he cant draw it back in time).. :C shes holding back, giveing him a easyer time, or my personal favorite, not a ninja, not trying to be a ninja, or just a cosplayer who doesnt know any better :P)

  • @Indirectcell Nevermind after watching a while she started doing HEAVY attacks, then they both started swinging blindly trough the air just meeting swords, then not at all, just swinging >.> they coulda made this better by EDITING CORRECTLY >.> but the edits were novice at best >.>, not sure what theyr trying to acomplish here.. not interesting to watch, pre release of a early stage? before they fix all the swings to look more swordfightish and cut the dodges to counter attacks and so on.

  • can I be her loin cloth?

I dunno how much work you do with the Japanese sword, or did at this time, but I have a small critique. You don't block with the bladed edge. You block with the backbone (dull) side, or parry/deflect using the flat. Other than that, nice choreography.

  • @shidoshirayne There is a price to pay by blocking with the back of the blade.......you cannot do a two-ended sword hold to push away the opponent as the bladed edge (now facing you) would cut your own hand. Keeping the back of the blade towards you allows you to place your hand on the other end of the sword, giving you leverage when pushing away your opponent from a blocked attack.

  • @sssentertainment Still, good work on the choreography, and the sword skills in general. Stylistic differences do occur, and I have total respect for that, so I'm not trying to disrespect it. Just was curious. Also, thanks for responding, Sean. I don't often get responses from people that I want to talk to on youtube... much less kinda idolize. Your work has always been great. Hit me back if you want to discuss further. I would greatly appreciate it.

  • @shidoshirayne Also, if the opponent has a strong strike and he leans his weight into the swords after you've blocked it, if the bladed edge is towards you, you will be cut by your own sword, for choosing to block with the dull side. Blocking with the dull side is a tactical decision, but there are pros and cons to any type of block or strike.

  • @sssentertainment Good points on both, my friend. I hadn't thought of it from that point of view. But for someone using powerful blows, and still using the back or flat, a good idea is to angle the blade to deflect rather than hard block, opening the opponent up to a counter blow, usually along the back, side or head, with a small turn. That turn could power the cut you use to finish them with. I suppose it's a stylistic thing, at this point.

  • I'm not a sword expert, though have been learning Japanese sword for several years. My opinion is that you try to block with the back of the sword, by rotating your wrists, not the position of the sword in your hands. The blade edge should always face your opponent, not yourself, and a block should always be integrated with an attack. Also, only in rare circumstances would I pull a hand off the hilt.

  • Though maybe I'm just too weak. I can cut tatami with one handed cuts, but don't feel I have enough control to accurately place cuts, much less defend with only a single hand on the katana. Are you thinking of a lighter sword?

  • If I were him.... I would have groped her while we were back to back.
