  • The demonstration did a great song from the intro :)

  • /watch?v=nBC-6mtzh0U wtf!!

  • ......Wow, that is the very exact intro to "A Very Calculating Snake" by the Demonstration. Look it up if you don't believe me. That's kind of spooky.....I hope they got permission to do that.

  • @Omega1874 they didnt had any permission, they stole it. Nils Norberg dont care though.

  • @ihaveallseeingeyes Damn dude....I had no idea. He doesn't want any royalties or compensation for that?

  • @Omega1874 He told me that there are way more important things in his life than huntin those idiots whom i wonder if they sold a lots of records anyway, the demonstration aint a big band whatsoever.

  • @ihaveallseeingeyes I don't think they've sold much. They're a small hardcore band out of North Carolina so it's doubtful. I have their record which is actually pretty good, but they're still just small time.

  • @Omega1874 yep, i agree.

  • One of my favorite guitarists, I was sad to hear he left music. The solo from "The Iron Force" is really memorable and still one of my all time favorites.

  • 8 jealous fools who can't play have watched this video.

  • Anyone who has the guitar pro file for this? can't find it on the nocturnal rites page anymore and i desperately need it, PM you you have it and would like to share!

  • awesome !

  • god damn i love this fuckin piece.

  • amazing play

  • This is the reason why people should be proud of Sweden..

    We have execelent musicians!

  • @thefreezingmoon1 Som fan !

  • Incredible... I'd kill for his skills

  • The 8 people who disliked this dont know talent when they se it!

Nils is the man, i would kill to have his guitar skills

  • @JoeyVengeance

I'm certain that the 8 thumbs down were accidental. That's the only logical explanation.

  • @Galactu5

i really hope so, or else its time for murder! :)

just have to say that i live in the same town as nils, met him once at the pub and had a few beers with him, not only is he a awsome guitar player, he is also a super cool dude. One of the nicest you will ever meet =)

  • @Galactu5 agreed

  • @Galactu5 Or def people that like to click on things.

  • dude you freakin OWN that guitar!

  • Nils Norberg "Lick Me" ( cover )

  • does any one have the backing track for this?

  • now that.....is talent

  • this is some truly amazing guitar work

  • superb

  • yeah this guy is fucking incredible.

and yeah he still writes some crazy shit.

  • yeah it's a great intro, and the demos song is great, but it just kills it to know that david took that riff from someone else

  • yeah i think it's pretty lame that david ripped that riff from this guy

  • wow!

  • that was fuckin' amazing!!!

  • I am still pissed Nils left Nocturnal Rites. Oh, well. Dude is so damn awesome it's incredible. Such a natural and clean player.

  • cleanest guitar playing EVER!!!!

  • very cool

  • what this guitar?

  • a caparison horus

  • actually its a dellinger 7 if ur responding to rafael.

  • i wonder if he uses stock ph-r pickups on this guitar

  • i wonder if he uses your mother

  • jeez like wise i wonder if he uses urs, along with ur sister and your gf.

  • hhhhhhhh]

  • what is a mud duck?

  • he made me want to play guitar

  • He's a true guitar miracle!!!

  • eLL es...... y?

  • Does anyone know where I can get the Caparison Nils Norberg Dillinger 7 string?

  • you cant yet unless you ask caparison, as far as i know

  • The closest shop I know is in New York, they can ship it to you.

  • one of the best stuff i´ve ever heard on a guitar!

  • this is the most awesome thing i have ever heard

  • It's not that hard to believe for me. I used to be a professional illustrator and art was my life for the first 30 years of it, but I got burnt out/disillusioned and now I get creative on my own terms and it's no longer a job. Perhaps he was feeling burnt out or just wanted to devote time to other pursuits.

It's not that surprising, just it's unfortunate for those that liked hearing him play. Hopefully, he'll be back when he's ready.

  • I still can't believe he lost interest in music. Still a great player though.

  • Tiny hands.

  • hey man! its cool...

can i get the backing track n guitar tab plz :D

  • OMG!

  • wat kind of guitar is that?

  • Caparison

  • he wasnt even trying in this video..

    great player

  • I read that on that song he used a 4-channel tubeamp made by him self.I think it was a picturne on their website some time.

  • He is picking a note with his middle finger but on the b and e strings, not just e.

No idea about the amp he uses. I don't pay attention to gear much. I know Allan Holdsworth plays through Yamaha Magicstomps these days, and that Jimi used to play Strats. *shrug* I never met a guitar I didn't like, to be honest.

  • great tone, what amp is it?

  • is he chicken picking the E string in the intro?

  • just amazing!

  • Nils. Please come back to Metal. I'm a drummer and you were still an inspiration to me. You're right up there with Olof Morck and Matt Dixon!

  • wat really? theres tab? where? wat link?

  • go to Nocturnal Rites official website, then press band, Nils Norberg, and search in right corner "My downloads" :)

  • Thank goodness the tab is there so I don't feel guilty for not puttin the tabs on the net. Takes way too long to do!

  • @Galactu5 Where are the tabs?

  • Nvm found the tab on there website :D

  • I wish there was a tab for this :(

  • wish he would come back. he was my inspiration to play.

  • *Bows to the master of the guitar*

    simply amazing.

  • Seriously..

  • I can't believe he just left Nocturnal Rites.

  • Yeah, I agree too. Younger Petrucci atleast.

  • Honestly guys it's the Caparison guitars! I could barely play the 'Friends' theme tune on my little squire strat, then I got one of these and I was flying! I pulled off the 'For the love of god' solo!!! :D (Obviously kidding... This guy is sick!)

  • i like his calm finger technique. it seems so easy when he plays it, it looks totally relaxed

    and sounds great

  • I don't get this... when I saw NR opening for Nightwish in sweden a few years back all I could think of was how completely tone deaf the guitarist was, every solo he just shredded maniacally off key and tempo and just acted like a 13 year old Hammet-wannabe. But in this video he's amazing, I'm seriously confused :S It's really like night and day...

  • Bad sound tech?

  • Nah, even with bad monitoring you should be able to find your way at least a bit on the fretboard. It is harder than it would seem though but it's not THAT hard, especially not if you have this guy's level of skill.

  • dammit right!! you say it all

  • somebody give me the tabs? :) this song is one of the best ive heard!

And for those who doesnt know which nocturnal rites is..

LISTEN TO THEN. They are from the same country as me, Sweden. And will be the best power metal band in the world.

(listen to their singer btw! omg)

    LOVE NR!

  • the main melody is amazing!!!

    great!

  • Holy-moly...Nils is AMAZING. I came to know this cat through the band Nocturnal Rites (own the entire catalogue). What can I say? I mean, Nils has it all: technique, speed, phrasing, finesse, style, feel...everything. I could watch him play for hours. Seriously.

There is a TONNE of talent on display here, folks. This is what happens when talent meets hard work.

  • Those fingers reflect long hours of practise....congrats!

  • tabs please

  • They're on the Nocturnal Rites webpage from what I know :)

I'd love to get a perfect quality MP3 of this song, it's a brilliant piece of metal. Gotta love the melody and the smoothness of it, I wish more metal guitarists would play like this, because there's too many of them just focusing on playing as fast as possible.

  • Really great!!

    :-)

  • great tone, and very clean playing.. not much feeling anyway

  • very clean.. very good

  • He's playing a custom Caparison Dellinger 7. The finish is snow could, but unfortunantly they don't sell the dellinger in that finish to the public.

  • Thats is the 7 string guitar of my dreams.

Anyone know what model it is?

  • This has a little Dream Theater vibe to it. Killer shredding!

  • Tasteful shredding is so rare, but in the rare instance that somebody actually shreds tastefully, it's so awesome.

  • this guy iz really good

  • Nil is so fucking good at playing. He is really awsome.

  • nils is like a cross between vinnie moore and.....ahhh somebody

  • you can find the tab for the song at their homepage!!!

    nocturnalrites dot c o m

  • i searched for the tabs but i didnt found that song :/

  • look under the band profiles and go into Nils' and to the right you'll see it

  • really nice!!!

  • GREAT

  • fuck love this guy...played so clean...damn

  • Dzaaaang0_0))

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • Caparison

  • 0:35-0:43 is so freaking awesome i cannot describe it.

  • is this a song from nocturnal?? or is it just a lick he made up!?!?

  • A special sogn for the DVD (FUCK !!!) That's one of the most amazing song ive ever heard for real

  • By all means let us know when and where you post the tabs.

Btw, the sweeps (or whatever they are) from 1:29 to 1:46 are the most gorgeous ones I have heard (in composition, tone and execution).

  • I am not aware of any backing track being available, unless you contact Mr Norberg, I guess. I just scanned the tabs for the song, but I'm not sure which is the best method of showing them. This magazine isn't readily available outside of Japan so I guess it's ok... to put them on the net... Right?

  • pleeeease do!

  • Dude where can I get this backing track and / or tab?? Fuckin awesome man

  • Me and Nils was jamming this very tune before we went on stage. I tried to follow, freakin' impossible stuff. He is a great player, a really cool guy to chat with. He hasn't got that diva style many other guitarist unfortunatly have got. A really laid back person.

  • Young Guitar magazine 12/2005. You can find the magazine on eBay. It has Nuno Bettencourt on the cover.

  • castlevania sounding no?

  • and which guitar mag is this ??

  • The tabs can be foud in the issue of Young Guitar that this lesson was published in.

  • how about on the net? :P

  • I am gonna play with these guys the 9 June, playing a solo instead of Nils on a song ;)

  • Amazing!!

  • Indeed a great tune by Nils, and quite tricky to tab out (both me and Nils worked on the tabs for this one). One thing to point out about NIls is that no matter how well you think he plays with Noc, or here, it is only the top of the iceberg :) When we sit down with a cold one here in Umeå, and jam, he pulls out a lot of cool stuff out of the bag that does not fit into the Noc sound. Great guitarist, great musician, great friend.

  • So where is the tab for this song?

  • Man, his tone is so amazing. Incredibly fast, accurate, clean, and tasteful.

  • do you guys realize how difficult it would be to tab this thing out...

  • I would like to get some tabs for this too please :) Amazing Player!!! Thanks for posting.

  • Amazing !!! So where can i find the tabs for this ??

  • Jawdropping!! A friend of mine actually helped Nils tabbing this. I also have contact with this guy, very little though.

  • Hello I was also in my teens.

Please ..nostalgia.. retrieve it with and in the future.

  • I saw the tabs and its played with a pick and some fingerpicking on the right hand. You see the fingers moving.Nice playing

  • This song is a blast to play! He is detuned by a half step and you don't need to use the 7th string so you can learn the whole thing on any guitar. If anyone has a short spot they can't figure out I could help, but PLEASE try on your own to figure it out at first because I don't want to have to show how to play every note in the song!

  • wow, the amount of control this guy has is amazing. he could probably do that whole thing again with his eyes closed. great playing, I doubt he is getting the recognition he and NR deserve.

  • This is NOT your average joe, this guy plays for Nocturnal Rites on Century Media records a fairly large but unrecognized band.:) He's so smooth and has such technique its awesome.

  • In the first bar there are some open string notes which give the illusion of not fingering notes that are played.

This is Nils Norberg from a band called Nocturnal Rites and it is not me, the poster of the video, playing. Just wanted to clarify that. If you like what you see here, then check out his band and stuff on the internet.

  • to bezza i didn't see any notes that he didn't play, think he may be hammering on, he's not picking the notes but still gets the sound out of them in other words, and the drum beat is coming from a machine thats off screen

  • *Basically- There seem to be some notes you are not playing but the sound is there, so in the song are there 2 guitars? Or did you just miss some notes out (That is what i meant by my 1st question.. dont know why i wrote that...)

  • Where is the drum beat comming from?

  • Sweet dude. Keep it up.

  • Wow... amazing!
