Question about hockey rules: So is fighting legal in the rulebook? Why do refs let two guys go at it if it is illegal... I mean they both get penalties afterwards right? So it's obviously not legal...

Why don't the refs just stop them before the fight even happens like in most other sports... These guys aren't boxers, they are very skilled hockey players.

Yep, it's hard not to want to throw punches when you just got a STFU missile to the teeth. HOWEVER, it is dishonorable to throw when you tumble to the ice, unless you want a repeat of the beating you just took. It seems like some fighters do like to throw an extra one in there at the end though. I think it is not cool and your dignity is not saved by it, rather it is cheapened.
