people please stop saying hes overshadowed or under rated, he is not, and just by saying that you make him look under rated, led zepplin is the best band in history becuase all of the members were god-like true artist, not because they were 3 and jpj. so shut the fuck up.
@alekssr7 ye but jimmy page kinda hogged the limelight. i think he just didn't get enough gratitude for what he brought to led zeppelin. throughout all their years jpj was the constant that never played shit from drugs. had an alcohol problem or dipped in ability. he was the led of led zeppelin
@theSodMonster thats bull shit no one was underrated in this band and are you sure he didnt played on drugs? they all admit they were fucking stoned and drunk they all played on drugs and alcohol. either way just because jimmy appeared more times in tv doesnt means jpj was underrated, you are underrating him your self just because u didnt hear bout him doesnt mean hes underrated.
@alekssr7 i didn't say he was under rated. i said when OTHER people say he was under rated they probably mean he didn't get enough attention camera wise. and i also never said he didn't play while on drugs, i said he was never below his best because of them, (jimmy got sloppy sometimes probably cause of the heroin). also i only heard of jpj when i heard of led zeppelin, i didn't hear about him in the magazines when zep were big because i wasn't even a sperm in my dads testicle until 1991.
@theSodMonster i read it and it pretty much said what everyone else and just because he wasnt in a magazine cover doesnt mean someone is suppost to be under rated. tell me of 5 bass players that were the stars of the band? the only one i can think of right now is gene simons and the guy from bee gees( cant remember his name) thats just the way for bass players not well know but still can play like i said not just because u dont hear of them much mean theyre underrated, and i never coursed at you
@alekssr7 paul mccartney (the beatles), geddy lee (rush), sting (the police). but to be honest the three people i just named happen to be the lead singers aswell as the bass players. i never said he was under rated, i don't think he was under rated. i was just making a guess at why people keep posting stuff on led zeppelin videos saying he was under rated.
He is now playing with Josh Homme and Dave Grohl in "Them Crooked Vultures"!!! JPJ is my favourite musician ever! I'd love my bassist could do half the things he doesXD
Holy CRAP. Not only is he playing three guitar parts on a loop, I'll bet the bastard is also using the delay with his feet to start and stop each one. When the other two went on tour as Page and Plant in the 90's I heard JPJ give an interview stating it was amusing "the lads" had to have 15 other people play his parts. TOO TRUE!
You also have to remember, while Page was a studio musician he was much better at recording techniques than with using a loop station. His mic placement and ability to produce a record were his strong points outside guitar. While John Paul Jones is... well he is almost like the Mozart, a true musical genius. He was going to leave Led Zeppelin around the time of Physical Graffiti to direct an orchestra in London. I love Page, but Jones is just a musical genius. But Page is a guitar master.
This will settle the dispute: Metallica says Plant has the best rock voice. Three Days Grace, Fallout Boy, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters (of course), Rolling Stones, Journey, The Eagles, Black Sabbath, and a few more bands all stated Robert Plant is the ultimate king of rock voices. His raw energy has gone unmatched even to this day. When you have every band out there acknowledging Plant, i'm pretty sure it is a done deal who won ;)
Who "won?" Won what? It's not a competition and unless you have some criteria, there is no "best." Plant fucked up so bad at the Freddie Mercury tribute gig, he didn't know whether he was coming or going. He's a good singer for some things and a disaster for others, like anyone else. You like him, cool, but don't be ridiculous and claim he's "best" or something. And, who in their right mind could possibly care about what the pussies and wimps called Metallica think? LOL
Oh, I believe you, my point exactly - they're all great within what they do and can't really go beyond a certain scope, that's why no comparison makes sense to begin with. My favorite Crazy Little... was by Brian Setzer, as far as I care, since that rockabilly thing is his kingdom after all.
Well, if you're going to tell people to not say someone is the best, then don't go around stating things like Metallica being "pussies" and saying it like it's the truth. It's called liking different things, your opinion is not law, just like everyone else's isn't.
That label has to do with shooting the video for (I think) "Enter Sandman" and those wall falling down around Lars who's running... he was scared to death, even though the walls were Styrofoam and weighed like 2 lbs. per wall, so it took them days to do that part because of his cowardice, and then he hits the stage making scary faces and acting all macho while in reality being a total wimp. That was documented by VH1, so that IS the truth, like it or not, but otherwise you're right.
Ah I was thinking you were talking about their music. xDD That is funny though. I really don't care because I'm not a huge fan of them, but yeah I thought you were just insulting them. >_>
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Kid, if you want to close your eyes and build him a temple, go ahead, but if you want to use your brain, hear his performance at that Freddie tribute where he didn't know his head from his ass, couldn't count, couldn't keep the rhythm, couldn't hit the right note if his stoned life depended on it, he was an embarrassment to singers anywhere.
Whats your point? He was stoned, he isnt going to sing good if hes stoned. Now im not saying its smart to get high, I think its stupid but these guys did it more then most bands, and they were really messed up from it, they were pretty bad live...But A band is nothing if they can't sound good in the studio
aczeppelindc2908: The rock solid support of John Paul Jone has gone widely unacknowledged by even the biggest LZ fans so it's nice to see him shine!
Robert is great but C6 = whistler range; not likely he could hit that, though he's hit high E (E4), G4 -- very impressive, possessing a phenomenal "metal" notes technique. For reference, think of Steve Perry of Journey, who has a very rare voice classification of countertenor/tenor altino, with a full range is F#2 to A5, highest falsetto note Bb5.
i would have to agree with some poeple here though, Matt Bellamy leaves all these poeple in his dust when it comes to vocal range, the song Showbiz is one of thebest examples of how high he can go. he beats most people hands down
LZ is the best! There is no doubt in my mind that Robert Plant can and has hit high G's. There is no denying the man's phenomenal talent or his place in the world of rock and roll; not to mention the level of respect toward him! What I did say is that Robert did not hit C6. A rare countertenor-tenor altino with stratospheric vocal range like Steve Perry hasn't even hit whistler range; nor did Brad Delp of Boston. For a man to hit C6 he'd have to be a male high soprano ... or castrated.
Taking nothing away from Robert -- never would, as I love then man and what he has done, while Steve Perry may be in a totally different genre of music, there is no denying that his voice is probably listed more often as number one than any male singer in the past 30+ years. Even Brian May of Queen called his voice one in a million. Listen to Winds of March as soars through astronomical ranges, with a breath-free note suspension of 25 seconds ... amazing control.
everyone in led zeppelin is the masters of all theyr own instruments and equaly good, jimmy page is the best guitarist of all time while paul is the best bassist of all time and bonzo the best drummer, and robert plant can reach the highest notes in the world"C6" and thats realy true and i know its fucking insane if u dont believe me il send u a video link ({:
I def agree that plant is the best singer but you have to give Matthew Bellamy (Muse) credit as well...if anyone can hold his own with him, it would be Bellamy
Led Zeppelin was a juggernaut of talent. If Led Zeppelin was part of the X-Men universe they'd be a stoned bellbottom-clad Juggernaut cause they're unstoppable. There was no weak link.
Most people know the video Song Remains the Same which has no acoustic set. That took place on the 1975 tour. On their last tour of the states 1977 they played an entire acoustic set with John Paul Jones on the triple neck, Page on a mandolin, Plant on a 6 string and Bonzo on bongos. If you think this is good you should have see it with the others surrounding this. Absolutely amazing. Great to see JPJ back to using it.
This is a good job some of you may not know what is going on here... he has a loop machine that records some of the chords and repeats them so he can move on to the next neck he can add or delete as he goes even add multiple loop's and yes Jimmy Page is very good at this also.
Hats off for mr Jones, he is a great musican, performer and a inspiration for us all.

@josemontenegro777 I always thought Pages Ideas translated in the studio were absolutely amazing.
I've seen a lot of real bad live performances by Page, I dunno, drugs, alcohol or whatever.
John Paul Jones was always a seriously dedicated musician as well as being tasteful and talented minus the swollen ego Page has.
I would say Jones is certainly a better live performer these days.

John Paul Jones is very good musician. Keyboards, bass, guitar, mandolin, autoharp, cello.

Anthaleus 2 years ago
Who "won?" Won what? It's not a competition and unless you have some criteria, there is no "best." Plant fucked up so bad at the Freddie Mercury tribute gig, he didn't know whether he was coming or going. He's a good singer for some things and a disaster for others, like anyone else. You like him, cool, but don't be ridiculous and claim he's "best" or something. And, who in their right mind could possibly care about what the pussies and wimps called Metallica think? LOL
gormarx 2 years ago
Robert Plant is the best Singer ever
poussyledzep 2 years ago
Have you already listened to Mercury covering Zep Immigrant song or Communication breakdow,?? a disaster !!
Freddie also fucked up so bad covering Zep Immigrant song and Communication breakdown
Robert was amazing covering Crazy little thing called love
poussyledzep 2 years ago
Oh, I believe you, my point exactly - they're all great within what they do and can't really go beyond a certain scope, that's why no comparison makes sense to begin with. My favorite Crazy Little... was by Brian Setzer, as far as I care, since that rockabilly thing is his kingdom after all.
gormarx 2 years ago

That was documented by VH1, so that IS the truth, like it or not, but otherwise you're right.
gormarx 2 years ago
Ah I was thinking you were talking about their music. xDD That is funny though. I really don't care because I'm not a huge fan of them, but yeah I thought you were just insulting them. >_>
alice9thRevolver 2 years ago
No, it's about their overall utter "fakeness" even though I find their music dumb as well.
gormarx 2 years ago
Plant a disaster for some things??wtf!!wtf!!!!!
could anyone sing Since i've been loving you or Kashmir the way he did it??
Sorry but you're the only one claiming that Robert could be a disaster
When i listen to Robert,Lennon,Mc Cartney,Elvis Art Garfunkel and Orbison i thank God for giving me Ears

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Kid, if you want to close your eyes and build him a temple, go ahead, but if you want to use your brain, hear his performance at that Freddie tribute where he didn't know his head from his ass, couldn't count, couldn't keep the rhythm, couldn't hit the right note if his stoned life depended on it, he was an embarrassment to singers anywhere.
gormarx 2 years ago

KarmicOmen 2 years ago
oops ... I meant Jones
KarmicOmen 2 years ago
i would have to agree with some poeple here though, Matt Bellamy leaves all these poeple in his dust when it comes to vocal range, the song Showbiz is one of thebest examples of how high he can go. he beats most people hands down
PiperTheGreatX 2 years ago
im a big muse fan and i understand what youre saying, bellamy is an extremely talented musician, but he in no way leaves robert plant in the dust
flyingemus9 2 years ago
look up robert plant king of the high g you'll change your mind he hits like 4 g5s and a b Flat
taygoo13 2 years ago
LZ is the best! There is no doubt in my mind that Robert Plant can and has hit high G's. There is no denying the man's phenomenal talent or his place in the world of rock and roll; not to mention the level of respect toward him! What I did say is that Robert did not hit C6. A rare countertenor-tenor altino with stratospheric vocal range like Steve Perry hasn't even hit whistler range; nor did Brad Delp of Boston. For a man to hit C6 he'd have to be a male high soprano ... or castrated.
KarmicOmen 2 years ago
type in robert plant king of the high and beyond he hits a C6
taygoo13 2 years ago
Taking nothing away from Robert -- never would, as I love then man and what he has done, while Steve Perry may be in a totally different genre of music, there is no denying that his voice is probably listed more often as number one than any male singer in the past 30+ years. Even Brian May of Queen called his voice one in a million. Listen to Winds of March as soars through astronomical ranges, with a breath-free note suspension of 25 seconds ... amazing control.

is he JPJ of zeppelin?
very groovy!

everyone in led zeppelin is the masters of all theyr own instruments and equaly good, jimmy page is the best guitarist of all time while paul is the best bassist of all time and bonzo the best drummer, and robert plant can reach the highest notes in the world"C6" and thats realy true and i know its fucking insane if u dont believe me il send u a video link ({:
aczeppelindc2908 2 years ago
I believe you very much so, but I would still like to see that link.

JPJ's talent, like his coworkers, is boundless.
Ozzybeans 2 years ago
Most people know the video Song Remains the Same which has no acoustic set. That took place on the 1975 tour. On their last tour of the states 1977 they played an entire acoustic set with John Paul Jones on the triple neck, Page on a mandolin, Plant on a 6 string and Bonzo on bongos. If you think this is good you should have see it with the others surrounding this. Absolutely amazing. Great to see JPJ back to using it.
grmerrill 2 years ago
Only now do we fully realize that it was in fact Robert Plant that was weakest link in one of the greatest bands of all time.
I don't mean that as a shot at ole Percy. Just that there was a mountain of talent in and around Led Zeppelin.
MSH68 2 years ago
This is a good job some of you may not know what is going on here... he has a loop machine that records some of the chords and repeats them so he can move on to the next neck he can add or delete as he goes even add multiple loop's and yes Jimmy Page is very good at this also.
