Nicky is my close friend. This video is absolutely amazing. I didn't believe Nicky when he first told me about this, but after seeing this, I realized how strong he is. Thanks, Dr. Gerba! Nicky's an awesome friend, and I might not have had the chance to ever even meet him if not for you! Yeah Nick!
I'm glad Uma had the nerve to fire the doctor. I mean, seriously. You don't go around discharging people who have fever of 105 or whatever. Especially little kids. Luckily, they got the right diagnosis.
my 2 years old son has a kawasaki disease.thank you for this video for knowing the information.the treatment is so expensive but i did my best to buy the ivig to cure this disease, the result of his test to d echo is normal..so happy that my son has no fever, the symptoms has gone.he continues taking an aspirin.and the dr.advise us to go back after one month for another test to d echo to be sure that his heart in not affected.thanks to GOD,and to dr.bernal....
my daughter was diagnosed with kawasaki's disease exactly two months after this was posted. we thought initially that it was the stomach flu, but after four days of not eating anything and a consistent high fever, our family doc told us to take her to the sick children's hospital. by the time we got there she had just begun the classic symptoms. we were very lucky. i'm so glad this video was posted. there needs to be so much more awareness a
hello. that does not sound crazy. According to what i just looked up on MDconsult, 85% of pts with kawasaki's are under 5, with a median age of 13 months. rare adult cases have been reported. i don't know the exact number of rare cases. there are approx 10 to 50 cases per 100,000 children diagnosed in the US. I'm assuming those are 10 to 50 kids per 100,000 per year but i don't know the time frame.
oh my goodness, i had this when i was little. its good to see it on this program (to raise awareness and all that) because whenever i have mentioned it most people dont know what the heck i'm talking about.
the weirdest thing about the disease is the bright red palms, there could only be 2 things i could think of to cause this. 1. a chemical reaction in the blood. to cause this....... no idea. 2. blood veins pop in the hands and the skin is penitrated. You know what im only THIRTEEN!!!!!
hehe just to let you know u obviously know how to type youtube into your web browser so u could have easily typed in google to ur search lol...it isnt hard then tried to make ur self look smart hahah wow and u know. how i know u did this is u wouldnt be bragging about being 13 the way u did if u actually knew this info!! wanna know how i know that im in ap. phyc im good at reading ppl. .HAHA u lose!
My child was on high dose aspirin for several years after he had KD. Reyes disease is a concern when taking aspirin while having a fever. I would stop the aspirin whenever he showed signs of illness. His cardiologist said this was an unnecessary precaution because Reyes is very rare and the aneurysms were a diagnosed condition. However because the benefits of long term aspirin therapy continue for a period of time after the aspirin is stopped it just made me feel better doing it that way.
This is my favorite episode of MD. Thank God Mrs Odonnell had the good sense to fire the first doctor!! He was completely unrealistic and stubborn about his initial diagnosis, which proved to be so wrong. His mule-headed treatment of this family could have proved fatal to that beautiful child! I could not believe he was going to discharge the child when he had had a high fever for so long!
We are so grateful to the ODonnell family, and Dr. Gerba for sharing this story, you saved my sons life. Two weeks prior to my sons diagnosis of KD, I watched Mystery Diagnosis, and couldnt have imagined seeing my son go through this. We would have known nothing about KD if it werent for the ODonnell family sharing their story. Our entire family thanks you and is forever grateful!!!!!
Such a cute little boy! :)
