    you cant compare rated routes with back country

    the fact is, a rated, route is patrolled and all the dangers are minimised,

    off piste or 'back country' is completly different. the snow is vastly different to start, and you are contending with dangers non existant on piste, like avalanche, cliffs ect

  • @joostlooyschelder it's not the fact that a mountain face may be steep that becomes a problem in back country riding.

    if you think you can do it, be my guest but you cannot compare a double diamond black ski pisted route to some off piste or back country action on most mountains ive ridden.
