My best friend's sister has a Rainbow Boa about as big as yours is. Very cool and fun animal. They're quite docile, and when the snake was kept in my friend's apartment for a while, we'd take him out of the cage, drape him around our necks, and walk around. We weren't able to keep him out of the cage for very long though since this is Wisconsin and it's fucking cold.

Couple questions. I want this snake. How long does it get? And how's Rainbow Boa's temperment in general? Also, my mom is afraid of the snake getting out of it's cage some how and strangling my sister. She's 12, and 5 foot tall. I know the odds are bad, but in general how would this be?
@rseagles14 a BRB could not kill a 12 year old a nine foot boa could on the other hand and that wouldnt be able eat you sister just constrict her not nice thinking about it if it got out it would want warmth just suggle with your sister hahah lol hope this help
@rseagles14 a snake needs to be at both be at least 8 feet long and weight at least 50 pounds before its a danger to constrict a human to death and that means anything bigger and including red tail boas. brb stay between 5-7 feet and are rather slightly built compared to other boas, but they are testy and demanding they take some time tame down and they have very specific needs in regards to care. if you are a first time snake owner i dont recommend any rainbow boa.

hey can you use a fogger in order to have a 80% humidity, i'm putting together an amzon terrarium together with 2 amazon tree boas, 1 Brazilan rainbow boa (Brazilian or columbian), n Red eye tree frogs, last time i set up my fogger with my ball pythons they coudn't breath that well, so no fogger for them.but in the amazon jungles is very humid so if anyone can give me their opinion reply thanks and after all all the animals i'm planning on getting come from the same jungles so please reply !
oh this makes me miss my rainbow. He had perfect 1/2 moons down his body. I named him Dooney cause hubby had just got me a new purse that was the tan color. they do but they are very docile if handled well, becareful though man.. not doubting your skills or anything but ive found these snakes very hard to care for, they need very specific humidity and althought u said in the video not to put em in glass tanks thats what your supposed to do you need minimal openings to keep humidity in, but best of luck hope it turns out well, just get a humidity gauge and your good =)

sorry didn't mean to negative that. you are right. a monitor sucks much more then any snake that size. they chomp down and refuse to let go and can be very hard to remove.. they can make you pretty sick too.
it depends on a lot of things. like how big the boa is and how dedicated you are to keeping up moisture, humidity, and heat in the tank. rule of thumb is the tank should be long enough for teh snake to be able to stretch completely. a 8ft snake would be a good in a 6ft long tank.
I've worked in the pet industry, and i've owned reptiles since I was 3 years old. Has anyone of your grown to realize it's somewhat of a sick industry? Housing a living creature for no real purpose but to stare at it? As this industry grows there is no doubt the amount of pollution we herpers produce will grow with it burning 100 watt lightbulbs for 8 hours a day, They do get kids interested in nature but we can find better ways. We need to put our money into conservation of these creatures.

I have never heard that before. However I know they can die very quickly if the heat and humidity aren't kept at a good level. I'm sure if you meet their needs they will live a long and happy life :)

Red tail!? yeah you`re a bit confused there aren`t you. Nice snake though. The reason glass isn`t good is because it doesn`t hold heat in, it radiates it away from where you want it, the tank he has there looks like it has a mesh lid too, double bad really, you`ll never keep the right amount of humidity in there, I keep mine at 60-80% you just can`t do that with that set up.

Usually the width plus length of the viv/tank, should equal the lenght of the snake.
4ftx2ft viv should house a 6ft snake. U should try and get the biggest possble when adult if U have the space and money.

I have had mine for over 8 months all I can tell you is get it on small rats as soon as you think he can take one.

Did you get it young? I would like to get some maybe and I know they sell some Venezuelan babies around 300$ CAN and I wonder how much costs this one as a baby.

I have never heard that before. However I know they can die very quickly if the heat and humidity aren't kept at a good level. I'm sure if you meet their needs they will live a long and happy life :)

Awh, he is beautiful! I have a male BRB about 3 foot atm and was slightly worried about how big he was going to be. 6 foot sounds scary but looking at yours it isn't bad at all! Really relieved. Thanks!

Red tail!? yeah you`re a bit confused there aren`t you. Nice snake though. The reason glass isn`t good is because it doesn`t hold heat in, it radiates it away from where you want it, the tank he has there looks like it has a mesh lid too, double bad really, you`ll never keep the right amount of humidity in there, I keep mine at 60-80% you just can`t do that with that set up.
