It's funny because your goal in 1948 was to destroy all of Israel (along with 4 other armies), and you failed. From then on, your goals kept getting less and less ambitious. In 1956, after repeated provocations on your side, Israel captured Sinai and Egyptian soldiers fled and left their shoes behind (that's true humiliation). Israel later gave it back, letting you know that as long as the provocations stop- Israel doesnt really need Sinai.
Then in 1967, after more provocations, Israel truly humiliated you. After all these poor defeats on your side, I can see why you think that capturing a small piece of land back is a precious victory. The Americans saved both our asses, they saved your asses by operation nickel gras and supplying with key strategic and tactical inteligence through their reconaissance capabilities, and Yes I admit they saved the surrounded Egyptian third army from possible destruction. It's true Israel army was 100km from Cairo but Suez is 120 km from Cairo, and yes Egypt anaylated an Israeli brigade trying to take suez on October 23rd so even while being cut off the EGyptians fought bravely and hard.
-Arabs had 5 different countries supporting them with actual military force- like Iraq, Kuwait, Lybia, they all sent troops, tanks, fighter planes etc.
Maybe Israel had ammo and equipment support from USA but Israel fought alone, unlike you did.
At the end Egypt faced almost a catastrophic defeat but Americans stopped that from happening.
Other than Syria none of the countries you mentioned had any effective role in the War, too little too late. Maybe the oil rich countries had a role pressuring the Americans to pressure Israel, although I belive USA wanted to help Egypt anyways to keep them away from the russians.
Well then even if only Syria had an effective role, 2 armies against 1 army... That's not something you'd expect to end up with the defending army pushing off its attackers and taking their lands.
Israel gained more American weaponry, sailing permit to its civil and combat ships on the Suez Canal since 1975 (before it agreed to withdraw from all of Sinai), cheap oil from Sinai and separate peace with Egypt, including diplomatic relations, while other Arabs gain nothing.
America gained Arab oil, Arab distancing from the Soviets,
and Egypt as an obedient ally.
If Egyptians want to celebrate the event that gave them Sinai back,
it should be Henry Kissinger's Birthday rather than 6/10.
Before the war Saadat did offer peace with Israel with no diplomatic relations
in condition of an Israeli withdrawal from all 1967 occupied Arab lands. Not only from Sinai.
Israel also wanted to keep part of Sinai to itself.
But it was the U.S secretary of state Henry Kissinger who forced U.S. will on both sides.
Egypt gained the saving of its 3rd army, American weaponry, Israeli withdrawal from the canal's west bank in 1974, another part of Sinai in 1975 and from the rest of it in 1979.
The two side had two totaly diffrent goals with the war. Egypt was tired of the situation no peace-no war. This war was a way out of this situation. This also benefitted Israel.

It's funny because your goal in 1948 was to destroy all of Israel (along with 4 other armies), and you failed. From then on, your goals kept getting less and less ambitious. In 1956, after repeated provocations on your side, Israel captured Sinai and Egyptian soldiers fled and left their shoes behind (that's true humiliation). Israel later gave it back, letting you know that as long as the provocations stop- Israel doesnt really need Sinai.

You had the upper hand in the first days of the war (attacking on 2 different fronts by 2 different armies on a total surprise and on a jewish holy day can do that you know) but you got arrogant and refused to agree to a cease fire and then you got CRUSHED. You got pushed back and suffered heavy casualties. You can't call that a victory.
And taking that strip of land- that's what caused your third army to be cut off supply and beg for mercy.

I do know all the facts about the war and yet I am proud of Egypt's military achievements, and the final political achievement, whenever I remember the war I feel proud and I believe all Egyptians feel the same. On the other hand you guys don't feel all that victorious although as you say you "won". I think you can't take away our pride. Having said that it is all in the past for me and I do blieve we are at peace now, yet I am proud of my military achievements.

Yes I don't deny that- Israel was in a bad situation in the first days of the war that's true. After all- fighting 2 armies on 2 different battlefronts isn't an easy task.
But then what happened? you were pushed off Sinai. Lost 200 tanks while IDF only lost 20. Then Israel conquered some more of your land- ended up controlling more of your land than it did before the war. Is that an Egyptian achievement? List achivements AFTER October 14 please.

it's hard to tell who won. Egypt controlled the war from the begining to the end, even after October 14 if it was not for Sadat's arrogance Israel would have never got their chance. Again refer to Abraham Rabinovich book. Even if Israel won it would be a pyrrhic victory that lead eventualy to your withdrawal from Sinai and We GOT IT BACK.

That's the thing Egypt plan and objective in the Yom Kippur was different than any other war or propaganda. Our objective was Sinai only, Sadat made it clear to the Americans directly in the second day of the war, even the war plan was just to take few kilometers of Sinai in order to convience the Israelis to take us seriously and withdraw from Sinai. I am personally happy with the current peace with Israel too and completely sad and against the hate that is going on.

The Americans saved both our asses, they saved your asses by operation nickel gras and supplying with key strategic and tactical inteligence through their reconaissance capabilities, and Yes I admit they saved the surrounded Egyptian third army from possible destruction. It's true Israel army was 100km from Cairo but Suez is 120 km from Cairo, and yes Egypt anaylated an Israeli brigade trying to take suez on October 23rd so even while being cut off the EGyptians fought bravely and hard.

Look at it like this:
-Arabs had 2 armies attacking at the same time.
-Arabs had Soviet air lift support
-Arabs had 5 different countries supporting them with actual military force- like Iraq, Kuwait, Lybia, they all sent troops, tanks, fighter planes etc.
Maybe Israel had ammo and equipment support from USA but Israel fought alone, unlike you did.
At the end Egypt faced almost a catastrophic defeat but Americans stopped that from happening.

Other than Syria none of the countries you mentioned had any effective role in the War, too little too late. Maybe the oil rich countries had a role pressuring the Americans to pressure Israel, although I belive USA wanted to help Egypt anyways to keep them away from the russians.

Israel's losses on both fronts between 6/10/1973 and 31/5/1974 (disengagement with Syria) are:
2,656 dead, 7,251 wounded, 25 guns lost, 109 aircraft, and 294 POW exactly
and about 800 tanks damaged (half of them were repaired).
Egypt lost:
no less than 54 anti air missile batteries, 279 aircraft 8,273 POW
and about 1000 tanks, 11,300 killed and 25,000 wounded.
Prisoner Of War numbers were given by the Red Cross.

Israel gained more American weaponry, sailing permit to its civil and combat ships on the Suez Canal since 1975 (before it agreed to withdraw from all of Sinai), cheap oil from Sinai and separate peace with Egypt, including diplomatic relations, while other Arabs gain nothing.
America gained Arab oil, Arab distancing from the Soviets,
and Egypt as an obedient ally.
If Egyptians want to celebrate the event that gave them Sinai back,
it should be Henry Kissinger's Birthday rather than 6/10.

Before the war Saadat did offer peace with Israel with no diplomatic relations
in condition of an Israeli withdrawal from all 1967 occupied Arab lands. Not only from Sinai.
Israel also wanted to keep part of Sinai to itself.
But it was the U.S secretary of state Henry Kissinger who forced U.S. will on both sides.
Egypt gained the saving of its 3rd army, American weaponry, Israeli withdrawal from the canal's west bank in 1974, another part of Sinai in 1975 and from the rest of it in 1979.

The Sinai Peninsula is on Egyptian hands today, unlike before the 1973 war.
It doesn't mean that Egypt won that war.
When the war ended, Israel held almost all of Sinai and a lot of land on the west bank of the Suez Canal.
Iwo-Jima was in Japanese control before the American invasion of the island as it is now.
Is it mean that Japan won the battle of Iwo-Jima ?
No. America occupied it and later gave it back to Japan.
