  • ahh so much screen tilting

  • half of you ppl are blind about the saturn port it looks good the way it looks but ITS MISSING SOME LEVELS GUYS

AND THE CONTROL MAINLY KILLS THE GAME

  • Wow this is greasy. It looks so painful and SLOW...

  • Aww I really like this version :(.

  • Could you make a Video of Urea 51?

  • Mark from Classic Game Room HATES this version. lol

  • I don't blame him. Besides graphics, this version is terrible. Not now, not back then, not ever. This is a classic example of hype and reputation based on biased magazine articles overshadowing the facts.

  • why do the enviroments appear larger in this one?

  • is there a duke nukem for ps3 or xbox 360? :P

  • Yes, Duke Nukem 3D Atomic was ported to XBox Live Arcade.

  • @elbryan42 it also includes Achievments and bonus photos including snap shots of DNF which I hardly doubt will happen now. BTW Duke 3D for xbox arcade is 400 ms points don't know about PS3 thought

  • terrible scaling, it looks like it was done by someone who just learnt build to be honest

  • I agree. Terrible level design. The person who ported over the levels didn't know what the heck they were doing.

  • I played Duke Nukem on PS1. I hate those fking pigs

  • I do like the dynamic lighting.

  • fucking cheater i didnt even realize that this game had cheats

  • I normally don't cheat. I did for this video to show the amount of levels (which is less than all other versions of Duke Nukem 3D) and I turned to God Mode so I could just go through the level showing off the simplified architecture of the Saturn port.

This video was made to show the lameness of the Saturn port, nothing more.

  • I remember this map. And i think it's the most annoying of them all. Great game though.

  • dead 3D realms

  • xD noob cheater

  • who tilts their head when they strafe anyways?

Gordon freeman would never do that...

  • Urea 51? Oh wow.

  • in respect to graphics (lighting, more specifically) and music, i'd have to say saturn is better than the original dos ver, but duke talks a lot faster in this one, and the blood and sex is cut down. The ai seems stupider in this one, too, which i guess compensates for a controller with no analog sticks. A few parts of that defined this level in the dos ver are definitely missing. (laser boobytrap, hanging monk) but this is one of the best console versions i've seen.

  • hmpf...saturn version sucks -.-'...there arent as many secrets as in the N64 version of DN ... and to the god mode....you played like you forgot that it would be activated xD

  • It was best for pc, all shooters are

  • I agree

  • I'm very against cheating. I just cheated to show the list of the levels (showing the missing levels and the split levels), and to blaze through the level to demonstrate the simplified architecture and lack of scripting.

This video was a demonstration of the lameness of this port, not my skills as a gamer.

  • dont say godmode is stupid .. i use it too... but you guys dont know how its like to use it ... because every fucking time you take 100000 times the map when actually you can play trough halve the times with godmode on

  • I hate god mode personally. I just used it to make the video, which wasn't about gameplay, but to demonstrate the lack of levels, the lack of scripting and simpler enviornments on Saturn Duke.

  • i was stuk on dat fr so long

  • wtf...

  • oh yea...and you picked Let's Rock.....and used god mode.....

  • man you suck.....i cant understand, that even after you put god mode on, you were still affraid of the lazer trips....thanks for making me laugh.....and why not put on the ammo cheat aswell.....you already look stupid with god mode.....

  • My bad. Chaingun Cannon. ;)

For some reason it's called the Ripper on the XBox 360. I've also heard it being called the Ripper Chaingun.

Whatever it is, it kicks a lot of ass. LOL. ;)

  • i love this game its a classic

  • this version of duke nukem 3d is a piece of mothafuckin bullfuck

  • farth, it's YOU'RE a bitch, if you can't spell it, don't type it.

  • cheater

  • nice video dude , i bought this on xbox live marketplace lately and i was on this level for 40 minutes and still couldnt figure out what to do, som you have to find the secret in the jail cells!!!!!!!!!!!!! crafty

  • What version of Duke 3D is this? :) I see better lights when you are hooting and better movement :)

  • This is the Sega Saturn version.

  • What does Duke say at 2:40?

  • "Hmm... that's one Doomed space marine!" overlapped with "Come get some!" (I picked up the chaingun. :P)

  • That inverted cross bit really scares me. It has a simple evil feel about it. This version loses something by not including that.

I remember trying to complete this one and the secret on Hollywood Holocaust with the lift in the bar that leads to body armour is unattainable because the lift won't work!

Very annoying version this with tons of bugs and things missing.

  • It seems the Saturn Version of Duke3D had a LOT of problems. One of the things I immediately notice was how you access inventory. That surely must be a pain for anyone.

I do however, like the Saturn's dynamic lighting.

  • ever noticed Duke says his lines faster in the Saturn version?

  • Elbryan, You do not know to play games whole FPP. In duke nukem 3D as it on codes play even fear opponent :p

  • Die Slimeballs ^^

  • not bad port. runs smooth

  • BS. Duke 3D plays better on the PC now than ever. Just download the "Eduke 32" pack and the HRP pack. Not only does duke now run in WASD and 360 mouse, but in "32 mode" it runs with modren models and textures. Plus there are 5,000 maps extra for the PC.

  • Meh, I only play games as if they just came out of the box. EDuke is cool and all, but it's just not authentic to the same game that you got back in the day.

Although I have to admit the HRP is very impressive. A lot of great work put into that. But when I actually play the game, it's the sprites and lo-res textures all the way.

The only thing I'd truly take advantage of in a source port is mp3/ogg music. And last I checked EDuke or JFDuke didn't support that yet.

  • And Duke 3D always ran nice with WASD and mouselook. It's all in setup.

  • I still only play Duke 3D on the PC with the original Duke 3D executable. It's one of the few games that run perfect no matter what PC I run it on.

  • Did you also notice he says his one liners alot quicker?

  • yea like he on steroids too much

  • saturn version???? FAIL

all console ports of pc games have worse graphics and controls. Why would you play this over the pc version? You can even use the high definition mod which adds enemy character models and much higher resolution textures.

  • Uh, massive fail for not recognizing the significance of the Saturn port? Also, don't be an asshole. Everyone knows DN3D came from the PC, it's just that all the ports have interesting changes to the original game.

  • Dude, quite with the ignorant, PC fanboy crap. Some people like consoles better. Live with it.

  • So you like worse controls and graphics?

  • So you like crashing, tweaking, and not being able to play games anymore a few years after they're released?

The controls are sweet on the PSX. Graphics mean shit-all. It's about gameplay and fun factor. There's also an extra levels on the PSX as well.

Sometimes I want to play a PC game, sometimes consoles. One's not any worse or better than the other.

  • And I don't care about source ports, mods, or user levels. I judge a game by how it is out of the box. Not what people do with it after it's released.

With consoles, you pop in the game and that's it. Simple and fun. No extra shit like on the PC.

  • the only people who say mods suck are people who have used any good ones. why do you think there aren't any console shooters with a community as big as counter strike? dude... are you seriously brainless? in your last comment you were saying that it sucks when you cant play a game a few years after it was released, and now you say you don't care about source ports? that's how you play old games you tard!

  • My computer hasn't crashed on me in at least 6 months or more. Tweaking? of course I like tweaking... Tweaking = extra performance. Why wouldn't someone be able to play a game a few years after it's released? Dude, I've been playing a ton of old games recently, and none of them are giving me any major trouble. A gamepad is always inferior for first person shooters, and I shouldn't have to explain that to you.

  • I didn't say that mods suck. I said you shouldn't judge whether or not a game is good or such. I don't care about them, because I only play the game itself. It's my choice.

I've played mods, source ports, and such. And it just doesn't feel authentic. It's like playing an emulated game on the PC instead of the console itself. Unless it's on a TV, with a controller, it's not real enough for me.

  • I used to play PC games all the time. I have boxes of games that don't work anymore. Or have bugs that weren't there before. Or have movies that don't work, or they lock up.

Just off the top of my head, the games I own that don't work right anymore. Blood, Earthworm Jim 1 & 2, Sonic CD, Resident Evil 1-3, Dino Crisis, Crusader No Remorse & No Regret, Daggerfall, Blood Omen, Dark Forces, and more.

I used to PC game, I don't anymore. It's not worth the headaches. I'd rather simply pop a game in.

  • So stop being a PC fanboy and accept that some people like a simple game that they can just sit down and play without a commitment.

Games they don't have to fiddle with to get working right. Games where they don't need the best graphics or be heavily modded.

    Simplicity.

  • As for a gamepad for FPS games, it depends on the game. If it's done right, it's just as fun as the PC version. Not every game, but some games.

A controller means you can sit back and relax playing a game. A mouse and keyboard requires you to sit at a desk and play. Comfort sometimes means more than accuracy.

  • "that's one doomed space marine" lol

  • The PC version is the best, but the best port in my opinion is the Saturn one.

Good graphics, really smooth framerate, and you could play online! (and still can)

64 was good too, but had not as good graphics and I didn't like as much what they changed as the original stuff.

But yes, the Saturn version lost some fun things compared to PC, but it's still the best console port.

    PS1 version had choppy framerate.

And on Saturn you got Death Tank Zwei bonus game, one of the best multiplayer game ever

  • @xl2k2005 you are forgetting the terrible flaws from the saturn version

the frame rate and graphics are the only good things on saturn BUT its missing some levels and they cut up some level

    its missing some architecture

and worst thing about the port is controls its so awkward

the PSX version has ALL the levels including a new episode (plug n play) and has ALL the textures and everything in it + it has better music

  • Duke speak "spedder " than the other versions it this.

    ' groooooovy " -> " groovy ''

  • " speeder "

  • I don't understand why they had to use the Slavedriver engine for this port and the Quake port for Saturn. They gained colored lighting, but completely mangled the games IMHO. For instance, sounds and animations play back at the wrong speed, the player height is off, unique geometry in the maps is gone, etc.

  • because the build engine didn't run on sega saturn, so they used another engine... and the Slavedriver was here....

  • I concur this map has lost it's fun due to conversion

  • the duke nukenm 3d official masp is much nicer to be fair ..... the maps sucks all the fun parts

  • in my opinion the saturn version locks beter than the psone versin.

the saturn version in my opinion has beter textures, but the psone version is cool to.

  • What I like most is the glow from ammo. Didn't get that in any of the other versions of this game I don't think.

What was lost, was definitely gained in other, more fundamental versions of this game, IMHO.

  • Man I love your videos.

I downloaded all the tracks, free from the creator, for Duke Nukem PSX. Do you know if I can do the same for the Saturn version? The music ROCKS!

    Thanks :o)

  • Doesn't matter; I found them :o)

  • Hey Elbrian, would u plz do vids for the rest of the levels on the Saturn version because i want to get all of the secrets and i dont know where they are from, The Abyss, and up. plz help!!

  • well, the video of the psx version wasn't more much "skilled",you know.

  • you are very poor player.

  • Only on this version. The controls aren't as good as the PC or PSX. This video wasn't about showing my skills, but just showing the level, and what was missing.

  • Who cares! It's DUKE!!!! I can kick ass at Duke on the PC with my mouse, but the mouse kinda... started failing. using the trackpad is harder but, I don't care. It's Duke!

  • Other then the limitations is the Sega Saturn version good?

  • It's a decent game for sure, but it's purely a FPS game like all the others. The cool stuff that IMHO set the game apart from all the others that made you go "wow" is gone. It's still super fun to shoot stuff.

In the grand scheme of things, yes, it's a good game. But the BEST version of Duke 3D it isn't.

  • Hail to the king baby! lol, the cheesiness of duke nukem is too good not to love.

  • That's the second reason quite a bit of people like him. The first is his perverted nature. :P
