  • hey has such a marvelous vacabulary for an actor <3

  • 13:32 I love that little smile :)

  • This guy is a complete and total cnut.

  • This guy is a cnut.

  • @FreddyTheJumpingCat you can't spell cunt.....

  • I love this man.

  • 4:03 Hahaha

  • I like him

  • Is this video on fast forward when Brand is speaking?

  • Jesus Christ this guy is so smart, his mind works like a freakin macintosh

  • i know we all wished we had has vocabulary and insight.

  • i know we all wished we had has vocabulary and insight, what a fuckin G.

  • i wish i spoke so fluently as he speaks

  • Gibberish.

  • "ashes in my mouth!" That's is the most gangster shit I've ever heard!

  • Holy fuck, was he born of a virgin birth? I'm pretty sure Russell Brand in Jesus Christ!

He's 100% right people around the world need to turn off their TV's and rediscover life.

  • Ahahaha 12:00 just do it, straight to the point!

  • Wow that was actually worthwhile...peoples be waking up!

  • I don't understand why such an eloquent, witty, intelligent guy (also appears not to be shallow at all) would marry Katy Perry?!

  • @ididete thius is why most people say love is crazy.

  • this guy kinda reminds me of Charlie Sheen! his metaphors are truly phenomenal

  • he's so lucid and quick

  • The boy did well!

  • **Sigh. He's so attractive...smart, funny, sexy, and he's got a British accent!

  • Comment removed

  • I bloody love Russell Brand, he's so unbelievably intelligent!

  • I bet he could write the best essay on anything

  • basketweaving! haha

  • I am very impressed by Mr. Brand in this interview. He fields the questions with such elegance, it is astonishing..

However, whether or not it was his intention, Jeremy Paxman comes across as a total douche...

  • Just watched some Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I feel like it just sucked the intelligence out of me. Russel Brand just threw it back in again.

  • does he run out of things to say?....ever?...

  • There is a current of words constantly flowing beneath russell brand's frontal lobe. Where do they come from? BEYOND?

  • Did Russell Brand admit to being an Atheist?

  • @HIMYNAMEISEVAN no because he believes in God. He's the opposite.

  • Russell seems like a smart guy who understands how and why the world works. The underlying problem with this man is his manic behaviour, he clearly does not think in a sane manner.

    What is normal though?

  • @nbmufc94 I really doubt this behaviour of his is intentional. He intentionally does it to give his image that twist. He is much smarter then the average person thats for sure.

  • @nbmufc94 It suits his persona to seem that way. Russell Brand is not stupid, he's a lot clever than your average Joe. The only reason the Andrew Sachs thing blew up like it did is because he's never been afraid to speak his mind - he riled the UK press (particularly right wing publications such as The Sun and The Daily Mail) once to often. He's a true maverick and intellectual anarchist, and I respect him enormously. Feel a bit sad though - seems slightly like we've lost him to America...

  • haha paxman suddenly seems like he's great to have a beer with.Weird.This is great, brand is such a cool bastard.

  • this guy just said every single obscure word that i haven't heard in years.... i admire that.

  • There's too many positive qualities to this human being.

I'm not sure I can handle it.

  • I think Russell Brand is considering doing heavy drugs again after this interview..

  • I'm sorry. I'm sorry. But the thought that this amazing mind just got married... to Katy Perry- Is almost driving me INSANE.

    Sincerely,

    ENVY

  • he talks himself into making sense ... it seems like its all coming out his ass.. if you cant say it in a few sentences then you dont know what your trying to say... im not hating im just observing and relating to it

  • KILLED IT WIV DAT LAST SENTENCE I USED 2 THINK HE WAS A PRICK BUT NOT NOW ...PEACE

  • This guy is a HUGE intellectual.. & I mean that in the realest way..

  • He looks like Gaddafi.

  • THAT, was fucking brilliant. Especially the last 20 seconds.

  • my mind just exploded...

  • @tmeyer10000 02:23 My mind just got a boner.

  • Russell Brand is an intellectual prostitute. He's a thinking man but he has sold his soul and surrendered to the cultural zeitgeist. What a waste of a wonderful brain that could do so much good.

  • The vast majority of Russell Brand haters hate him due to his tabloid image, not once stopping to observe his work. Yeah he's a big head, yeah he shows off, but he's a very intelligent, superbly funny guy who's great on radio, chat shows, and stand up...in my eyes Pete Doherty gets similar treatment - as people don't consider his talent or intelligence, just his tabloid image...dont' belive everything you read!!

  • Why do people still think he's on drugs?? he gets a bit hyper sometimes because has manic depression..

  • he does have a great vocabulary but that is not the only reason people are commenting he is brilliant

  • @blueSKYsings5 I think people are mesmerised by his vocab though. Scratch the surface, and he isnt really saying anything particularly brilliant or enlightening.

Dont get me wrong, he's obviously an intelligent fella...and very funny to boot.

It's just that he's far from the messiah-like figure, that some are making him out to be.

All I see here is an insecure man, hiding behind a sort of grandiose performance...and having just this second read-up on his past, it's not the least bit surprising

  • Well I pissed nyself watching Get him to the Greek, but he's quite a different person behind closed doors isnt he.

  • i love him, he's so intelligent, witty, charismatic and eloquent. it's no wonder katy married him!

  • If Russell Brand was American he would not be this famous

  • he is awesome

  • Hes got a rather large vocabulary and all these idiots are sucked in by it saying he's brilliant. It takes more thanthe knowledge of a few words to be a genius.

  • This man is brilliant.

  • RUSSELL BRAND IS JESUS REINCARNATED!!!

  • simply genius

  • This Russell Brand guy is pretty cool. I love this interview. If anyone deserves celebrity then I'd say this guy does.

  • too much coffee- i like him

  • I think he is extremely bright and so very funny. Lucky Katy!

  • And this is why I respect Russel Brand; Such an interesting interview!! A very intelligent being.

  • hahaha i like Brand, especially in this interview, but when he talks about doing something important in the future, then made that easter bunny film, then, what a tit he is.

  • very wel spoken, and quite the wordsmith, but it does not mean hes a genius.

  • Booyah. This is beautiful.

  • this interview makes him come across as a buddhist

  • I had no idea he was this brilliant. Newfound respect.

  • Post script to the last comment .......... And this Jeremy person is an absolute twat.

  • @Fluffybutt1965 No - hemay at first seem to intimidate but he gets the truth out of people... which must be a good thing. No one should suffer fools gladly.

  • This man truly is genius.

  • I really have to give him a lot of credit for being a true self-made man. I know he didn't get a whole lot of schooling, but he's clearly VERY intelligent and quick-witted, and honestly, it makes me respect him a lot more. I appreciate well-spoken people, and clever people even more. Good show, sir.

  • kudos to russell brand a true genius.. tho he was a heroin addict.. not the smartest thing lol

  • @BondiDaz - Getting addicted to heorin, but then GETTING UN-ADDICTED TO IT (Probably one of the most difficult things a human can do) - Even more reason to respect him,..

  • Wow... half way through Russel really starts standing up for himself.. and I was actually rooting for Russel.. Russel wants fame because he cannot achieve status for himself by being the son of bladiblah as Jeremy can (I have no idea who exactly his parents are, but can assume they are wealthy and have some degree of status).

Russel with his eloquence defeated Jeremy's sense of social snobbery and revealed himself to be the superior intellectual mind.

  • Great interview from Jeremy. Never once asked the wrong question and gave him room to speak.

  • "...but I'm not gonna get all Kerouac about it."

  • This has transformed my opinion of Russell Brand for the better - not that it was bad in the first place. I've always admired that he dresses as he pleases and is who he is, but I watched one of his stand-up bits and the humor didn't resonate with me personally. I have nothing but respect for him after watching this.

  • Surprisingly refreshing and poignant.

  • This is all well and good. What he is saying is very interesting and he makes some good points, but then why if he's so sick and tired of being famous, does he still spend such an extraordinary amount of effort maintaining the very image that he apparently despises? The same image that made me (and many others from the looks of the comments) dislike him and find him annoying. I refer to his CRAZY clothes, his WACKY hair, his RAUNCHY twitter pics with Helen Mirren etc etc.

  • @SpaceGhostNZ No one can please everyone. Nor should you lose yourself, to do so.

  • @37thBlitz I don't quite see what you mean here? I was addressing the conflict between what he says in this interview and the way he DELIBERATELY presents himself in the public eye. He is complaining about something that he brought on himself.

  • @SpaceGhostNZ Yes, as in how he deliberately represents himself is something that you may not like, but isn't necessarily something others may not like. But it is intrinsic in his personality and in his tastes in clothes, why does how he looks decide his intelligence or, why should his intelligence decide how he should appear to you? Does that make sense, in response to my previous to point.

  • @37thBlitz Ok yes that makes it a lot clearer, but in this interview he complains about the public perception of him and being put into "narratives" by the media, when he is absolutely making himself available for that and even encouraging it to some extent. His fame is not based so much around his achievements, although that is part of it - it is primarily focused around his public persona. By playing up to that and exploiting it to gain fame he has made that persona fair game for the media

  • @SpaceGhostNZ I see what you mean a bit more clearly now. I can say I agree with that as a valid statement, to say you hate something as you stroke the flames is curious.

  • I've always known Russel Brand was intelligent. British people seem to exceed the boundaries of vocabulary XD

I can't help feeling that the interviewer was kind of lost, like his words were to big even for him! XD

  • he uses the biggest words. its so antidisestablishmentarianism if you ask me.

  • Comment removed

  • i feel so unintelligent right now

  • My perspective has changed of him, he's real talk.

  • cocaine?

  • He talks 1000 miles an hour.. Goodness.

  • brilliant

  • This man does not stop to think once before or during the giving of his full and detailed answers...which to me, seems to be the mark of a very high level of thinking. He has surely thoroughly thought about all of these subjects before, he already knew what he had to say about them, which leads me to imagine that he thinks about everything in this way. I highly admire this trait.

  • @Jah044445 He says he meditates, which really explains a lot about it. Meditation helps your mind and assembles your thoughts, making them clearer by removing whatever impediments they may have. The analytical process turns more and more into an instant performance.

  • @MakkaPakka666 That sounds like some great stuff. DEFINITELY looking into that :)

  • I don't see how people are taking his wide vocabulary as a defense mechanism for himself. Clearly he answers the questions directly with complete honesty.

Just inspirational Russell Brand, anybody can find any more of these deep interviews of this brilliant person?

  • @Outc4st YES, actually. There's a great one with Dawn French--you can search it up on youtube. It has three parts and I think that's the most serious I've seen him in an interview. It made me see more of his...persona behind-the-scenes so to speak, like for once he wasn't acting the Russell Brand of the media but more relaxed, personal, and real. Anyway, check it out I think you'll like it. If I can find it again I'll try to send it to you.

  • I watched this entire interveiw and I have no idea what it was about I was just thinking about how cool his accent is. Lol.

  • gotta love himm

  • This is a fantastic interview. He comes across as extremely intelligent and genuine.

  • @Od294 You're mother's a whore Od294. Oops, sorry, didn't mean it. Get my point? Anyone can act like a dick and say "sorry" or excuse themselves mate. I'm not criticising him as much as commenting on how people lap stuff up as soon as someone starts to sound clever. He says some very, very true things, most in fact, but he's still full of shit cause he doesn't live according to what he says, which admittedly most people don't do.

  • @drnazar69 So you're ridiculing him for not living according to what he says?

Do you like anybody at all? He says himself it got out of hand, he did not mean it. I can say with complete confidence that every single person in the world over 10 years old has done something they (at least at some point in their later life) think was wrong.

People make mistakes. You've heard of the main one that after which, changed or created your opinion of russel brand being 'full of shit'.

    just think about that

  • Wow. I've got tremendous respect for Russel Brand now... I didn't really know of him before, but I'm happy that I've seen this interview.

He seems very introspective and aware of himself.

  • What a legend! "not here talking to you of course, you're lovely and fantastic!"

  • he is insanely brilliant! i never knew.

  • wow, this somehow feels prophetic! he really has such a good grasp on the industry and its meaning and articulates that perfectly and with so much passion too

  • Really enjoyed this interview, watching him makes me want to better myself, by reading more and by being a less selfish and materialistic person. Thanks very much for posting.

  • I live in the same society as Russell and everyone else. I have no desire to be famous. What makes me and others like me different from people who do?

  • Im just now getting to know about him. I LOVE his interviews! At first glance you think "idiot" but after paying attention...you can see the intelligence. Alot of big words are hard to keep up with and still make since...especially at the speed he talks! hahah Love him! For now anyway....lol

But I dont know alot about him yet.....we will see.

  • Spectacular verbiage, but I find it striking and dismaying that in all of this, no one displays the slightest concern about Sachs` granddaughter or her feelings. Instead, it`s about violating some code of male-to-male behaviour.

  • Comment removed

  • His intelligence slightly frustrates me. I love him

  • bbc ftw

  • I didn't create a culture where fame is deified, I just willingly play into its grubby little hands.

  • he's using long and big words, but you can tell he knows exactly what he is saying

  • Wow, I must say I'm impressed with the way Russell plays the game. I would never have guessed that such intelligence and insight was lying behind the character portrayed in the media. No if only more celebrities had a heart and mind like his we could see the change in the world that he speaks about.

  • I like him because of his vocabulary and eloquence.

  • He made perfect sense and clearly has an extremely developed and highly intelligent understanding of media's relationship with society.

He understands his workplace and that interview alone was probably worth an honoury sociology degree.

Honesty, passion, commitment, intelligence and wit, far more informative and entertaining than most politians and he answered the questions always coming back to the the main point.

    He has my vote

  • i like him! now! only until now.... but if he talks of such things and believes such things, i ask: why the fuck did he make the remake of Arthur? that remake was horrible! he knows his art so why do such thing? if any body would care to explain this. i'm genuinely curious. he seems like an intellectual, the person talking here is very smart, so why make such horrible movies and jokes?

  • @MsBickle76 Even good actors take roles for money, or when they can't be sure when the next role is coming :)

  • @Vaywen you know.... i also think that they just don't know! they put their carrier in the hands of the director or studio and they are told will be very deep and meaningful or whatever, and when they see the complete movie is a totally different thing than what they were told. i guess is not the actors fault, they don't really have control over these things... still, the chap is a juvenile cunt, but he is very smart and respectful as we see in this interview

  • damn. he's about 5 times as more intelligent than I am.

  • 29 People didn't understand a word that Russell said.

  • He practices Trancendental Meditation.

  • I completely agree with everything Russell says I just wish I could have put it as well as him

  • Interestingly well educated, with an immense vocabulary. Hats off, Sir.

  • Throwing in some humor at 7:00

  • You can tell Russell's brain works faster than his lips can move to get out all the words

  • Russel Brands Vocabulary = WOW!

  • "I think that most of the things achievable through drugs, certainly the things that people are trying to find through drugs, are accessible through other means - perhaps like meditation or prayer or contact through some kind of higher power." - Russell Brand

    He is a practicing Hindu.

There is quite a strong emphasis on ego-free charismatic figures in some schools of meditation, such as Lamas in some schools of Buddhism, and Gurus in some schools of Hinduism.

  • It's amazing how many of you are impressed by the words he uses as if you also get the message. If you actually understood what he was saying you'd realise he's full of shit.

  • @drnazar69

Please... enlighten us why he is full of shit.

  • @DudeSpectre Don't you think he makes very true statements then justifies his own contradictory behaviour with an eloquent vocabulary? I mean, I had to stop watching after he tried to dodge that bullet about the up-skirt photo vs. the message left on Sachs's answering machine. Codswallop!

  • @drnazar69 what are you on about, he talks absolute sense in this interview. thats why paxman is so impressed

  • @sdtaylor91 He makes sense, sure, but don't you think he makes very true statements then justifies his own contradictory behaviour with an eloquent vocabulary? I mean, I had to stop watching after he tried to dodge that bullet about the up-skirt photo vs. the message left on Sachs's answering machine. Codswallop!

  • WHAT DRUGS ARE YOU ON BRAND?

  • @skittlepimp NIL! Even when RB WAS on drugs he was able to develop intelligent discussions on social issues. If you haven't watched RE:Brand look it up on YT NOW! Watch RE: Brand Nazi boy . Russ makes numerous arguments against racism to these BNP punks and they can't argue one iota of their fascist drivel. They look like absolute fools. Also check out RE Brand homeless James and My old tart etc. RESPECT (in my ali g voice)

  • ...Wow........such immense Clarity and Intelligence...and so intimate views...which is rational....iam completely amused and i thought he was stupid...I was so wrong...Wow

  • Russell Brand has been sober for quite some time. He is not on drugs. He is the most well-spoken person I've ever heard. And, I love him

  • Refreshing

  • the interviewer looks so shocked. I wouldn't be he's brilliant.

  • What a load of shite about the message he left. No one who hs depth of thought would believe he was leaving a message for a TV character. It's good that he is forgiving. Pretending his long message was "unlike" the photographer's move of targeting his partner's sex organs is ridiculous. I can't stand when people think talking more makes what they did ok.

Having said that Russell I think you're fantastic. A little (ego) maniacle but fantastic.

  • Winning!

  • he is truly amazing!

  • If Brand was "on something", as has been put forth in the comments, then it is a "something" to which I aspire. His fast talking might give pause, but the clarity, intelligence and cogent reasoning he puts forth are both inspiring and refreshing.

Fame has laid its "icy hand" upon many... but few so deserving. Bravo!

  • cool mother fucker

  • Wow! Maybe a little less blow before your next interview Russell!

  • @dwylmike That's exactly what his point was. Are you stupid?

  • good interview. planet

  • Russel is surprisingly eloquent in this interview.

(maybe I shouldn't be so surprised) I suppose I had a preconceived notion about him as a bit of a goofy larky funny man. But he has completely won me over with this interview.

  • He is so bloody awesome.

  • he is just a good bloke, a bit off the wall, but he talks sense, if you listen.Consuming is the new religion, and it is utter shit. T he media want to dictate our ives, and if you want to be an x factor sheep, thats your choice, listen to leona lewis and deaden your brain, give a shit about trivial throwaway competitions, or do something decent, that helps you, and other people, instead of worshiping golden idols that are shit beneath the thin veneer. Think for yourself, dont let others do it.

  • He has an awesome way of taking simple ideas and situations and making them sound complex.

He's verbose, shrill,, and not as smart as he thinks he is.

  • He took lots of psychedelics, you can see it in his passion and in his deepness the way he dives into a subject and comes out in a diffrent subject and he sees it all holisticly connecting together.

A man with passion is a rare thing these days.

  • never has paxman been so servile within an interview. Russel you have triumphed over politicians and academics of all statures. And he speaks the truth

  • Love the art in yourself, not yourself in the art.

  • Although I do not find Russell Brand's comedy funny, it is refreshing to see that he is very intelligent, and not another mass produced product of stupidity like the Kardashians and Paris Hiltons of the world.

You can fake being stupid, but you can't fake being intelligent. Kudos to you Russell Brand.

  • What. A. Boss.

  • so russell brand is finally against them
