I know it feels like you never will be able to but watch videos of those with major back injuries...Vasily Alexeev and Derek Poundstone first come to mind...and let it get you back to big weights!

    I've been watching your videos for the past week and I would like some enlightenment on the power clean. Is it really part of the movement or exercise to squat under the bar in order to rack it or is it a natural reaction of the body when it's under immediate heavy weight?

  • @subwoofer87 having a monster grip is paramount. do the lifts with no hook or straps to help your grip. I call it going "old school"

  • @kingsthebest The yellow plates are Eleiko. Probably the best plates in the world. That pair is over 30 years old, and I have used them daily for 20 years. They have no cracks and still fit perfectly. I WISH all my plates were as good as them.

  • Hey Broz, I used to Pc all the time but it's been a few years since Ive been at it, I'm finally back in the gym I used to do about about 4 sets with reps 10, 8, 6, 4 and increasing weight, I would start at 205, 225, 245, 265 ect, Any advice on starting back up again? Should I just do 4 sets of ten with 135 to get my form back and increase the weight when I feel good, I'm 28, bdwght 220lbs I think I could probably hit 225 once right now.

  • Broz, I'm currently learning the power clean and I recorded myself and it seems that I bend my elbows right before the second pull. I don't do it on purpose. I look like Pat at 0:04. So I guess it's still proper form?

  • @RusiMusic a lot of successful lifters have done it. It's not textbook, but for some it's ok. As long as you finish your 2nd pull and don't miss the rack, then I wouldn't worry about it.

I've just started to really learn to do the PC correctly and every time I watch my own videos there's always something off or to correct.   • @tmcdougald Try making contact a little bit lower on your hips! If you bounce the bar off your hips (I think thats what you mean anyway..) for a clean, try a couple inches above your knees. Snatches are usually bounced off your hips around your pee pee area. Atleast thats my experience

    If you want to get technical it's 440.924524 lbs., although I seriously doubt that those plates (or any plates in the world, for that matter) are calibrated that accurately.
