Hey Lindyhop411, if you're willing to give out information, I've been looking for someone to teach me Lindy Hop in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for months now. No luck. I'll give you my firstborn for the name of a good teacher/studio in Texas, or even better: Annecy, France. Will my chances of being taught to swing be even worse overseas? God, I hope not.

Have you looked up the Dallas Swing Dance Society or the Fort Worth Swing Dance Society?

I'm not familiar with Europe, but there are lots of events there. You are also much closer to the world's best lindy hop dance camp: Herrang.

The dance style is Lindy Hop. You'll want to look up big band music, like Count Basie and Chick Webb. A good song would be "Jumpin' at the Woodside" by Count Basie.

The song in the clip is "White Heat" originally done by Jimmie Lunceford.

I have to take regular ballroom dancing lessons. We don't have ANYWHERE that has JUST swing dancing lessons, so that sucks, but it's better than nothing! This is absolutely fantastic!

Allen, TX. There's only one acceptable ballroom dancing studio, and there aren't many students, so sometimes they can't teach.

So, yeah, I'm pretty much screwed. LoL.

Well first off, you can't learn Lindy Hop from any ballroom, so throw out that idea.

Secondly, you are close to Dallas, and there's a big swing dance scene there! Do a web search for the Dallas Swing Dance Society. They may not be able to get you dancing this fast, but they'll be able to get you headed in the right direction.

I normally drive over an hour to go out dancing on the weekends. Trust me, it's worth it.

Ha, I just wish my parents would think so. I know that *I* think so. Swing dancing is one of the most fun things I've ever done. The first time I got flipped, I couldn't think straight for a full 30 seconds. But I'll try to convince them, I suppose. Where would you recommend in Dallas?

1) You can't learn Lindy Hop from a Fred Astaire or Arthur Murray dance school.

2) You can't learn this from just watching videos, you have to take real lessons from real Lindy Hoppers.

3) This isn't a High School. ULHS stands for Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown. Most of these dancers are in their 20's and 30's.
