He's 'concerned with values' yet doesn't mind repeating the profanity 'bullshit' or promoting a book with the profanity prominent in the title. Welcome to the end of culture, folks!
BS is just the apparent form of what mostly what I think to be North America has created as a way to lie yet tell the truth and a form in which it persuades peoples in order to go toward there thinking or one different but in a since hiding some truth over it as a form or lie though not a complete of the two...though the world has become so in wrapped with this BS that we have totally lost what is and is not with only others leading others in mindless debates over nothing in particular only a BS
@hugogirardisking I don't think that's true at all...it was a funny/witty moment...Dr. Frankfurt concludes his explanation of a point by, after a brief interior search, concluding with the word "bullshit." It's funny, both because of the interjection of the coarse word in an otherwise intellectual discourse and because of the irony of having to use the subject of discussion as the ultimate explanation.
Actually, that isn't right - since Frankfurt notes that bullshit serves a purpose in terms of selling or marketing products, it seems that the bullshitter is using the bullshitee merely as a means in this case also. Oh well. Back to the drawing board.
Our attitudes towards lying and bullshit are different becuase lying involves using as a means, while bullshit(ing) does not. When a liar tells a lie, he uses the victim of the lie merely as a means towards gaining whatever it was that the lie was for. When we lie, we bring about some benefit for ourselves, and so use the vicim of the lie as a means to gain this. Bullshitting involves no such use as a means; thus we are intuitively less tolerant towards liars than bullshitters. Or not......

I don't know if Noam Chomsky is the biggest bullshitter there is, but he does excel at it. He's definitely the most irritating bullshitter I know.

@GregBumble And few recognize the bullshit, unfortunately...

@respulgar :) aww. I used to look after the Philosophy section at a bookshop I worked at and kept coming across his books and had to read them.

6:21 --- The interviewer realizes he shouldn't be laughing and quickly adjusts. Hilarious.

Frankfurt was smiling most of the interview, so I don't think the interviewer felt he had to adjust. He was just moving on in the interview.
