What happens with me is I'm so focused on the melody that the left hand (bass) almost becomes a non-factor. Whereas the melody is second nature to me, I think we tend to not focus on the bass part so much when in fact it has alot to do with what makes a song beautiful. Just work on the left hand in general and you may see an increase in your synchronization
