dude looks like its indian air force's mig-21. when this event happened? who was operating camera.? he was talking in hindi. so i can understand. but when this happened?
Actually from what I have heard about early ejection seats in the MIG-15 and MIG-21, there is no such thing as a safe ejection. You are usually a few inches shorter and have some serious back problems.
Looked like it had good power, but started to roll to the right. Control problem maybe? If I couldn't get it to right itself or if it started doing something I unusual, I'd get out too!
Seems like he miss judged and should have stuck with it longer to make sure it didn't fly into a neighborhood or something. But I'm not a pilot and I sure wasn't in a situation like that, so it's easy to say from my standpoint but being him facing death changes everything. Very cool vid, sadly the camera angle at the beginning wasn't the best but its all good =]
I love the aviation- expert comments! These are Air Force Pilots, folks!!! They know what they have to do when emergencies occur! I don't think he ejected and destroyed a few million dollars airplane just for fun. No one of us doesn't really know what happend. So just look at the video. greets
@okaaaiiiden "Its a russian built aircraft. What do you expect!?!" - The Mig 21 is one of the best built jet planes in the world. They were around since the 50s! And even today some countries still have MiG 21s in service. It was not the planes fault! The plane could have been too heavy. Just look under the wing it has two tanks of fuel. Plus the pilot probably tried to take off too early or the angle of attack was too high. Anything could have happened.
I see fly manual, it's celearly said: should start with afterburner, all other methods are prohibited. And if after a few meters on the runway the afterburner will not work, abort take off. Few of my squadron mates flew on 21's, all of them take off with afterburner. Taking off with no burnes was allowed (but not recommended) ONLY on Mig-21 F-13 versions, which was the lightest of all 21's family.
@dokomana That's probably why they had no burners. They had no load so they were light. (And the pilots were civilian owner/pilots so they pay their own fuel bill!)
If you are familiar with aviation, tell me if F-104 would have been able to take off without afterburner on a normal runway (length of about 3km)?
I think she would have exactly the same problem as the Mig, and ended as ball of fire. So I do not know why American planes are so much better (in your opinion)
First of all that's some shitty camera work. Second couldn't of been engine failure because it's still running, you can see & hear it. Third I think the pilot could of stayed in it a litlle bit longer...
If you know nothin about jet engin, just stay quiet. You think, if you think speeding turbine stops immediately?? If so, then you must be nothing more than an idiot. Mig-21's take offs only in afterburner mode, if it does "not come", the pilot must immediately eject. Speed must not drop below 250km/h a altitude can not be less than 50m
@dokomana Well I guess that's why AMERICAN aircraft are so much better. And that Mig 21 sure sounds like the engine is still going to me as it fly's by before crashing. I think it was pilot error. And I know a lot about aircraft FYI....
@1995ChevyCaprice fuck that get out of that thing... take off low slow and dirty bwith one engine. no way to recover.. the plane was stalled from the beginning...
lol yeah they'll wipe it down and it'll fly again lmao. You guys are smartasses. Funny. I'm glad the pilot's okay though. Nothing like a failure right after takeoff.
The plane is fine, some parts were for the manufacture of cars LADA and some other went to a cookware factory, the face of the camera was brave, so give me the shivers to think of a mig 21 pilotless been fair in my direction.
For God's Sake, You're funny as Ikea's furniture... Try yourself to cath good video of taking off Mig-21's, when in front of you one of the pilot's ejecting and no one know where the aircracft will fall...
Good, stable video of situation like this is possible in... hollywood.
This incidence took place at Masroor AFB of Pakistan Air Force on 13th Feb 2007. A bird got sucked into the engine of one plane of the sortie on take off. Smoke can be seen comming out. The pilot ditched the plane within the premises of the Base. Its no high alpha take off, but the engine simply loosing power. Pilot was lightly injured, no one else was injured. This spectakular film was taken by two lucky teens who by chance came to the base periphery just wanting to see fighter jets taking off
LMAO hmm there is a mig 21 flying towards me and the pilot is lying in the field next to me. meh it'll be fine ill just keep filming. Love the calm voice haha well done man very cool!
Looks like he stalled it, and then after he ejected the plane maintained flight. Doesn't seem like there was an engine failure, or at least it wasn't a catastrophic one.
@BlackChrome2020 Thats what I thought. The planes angle of attack looked high and then the camera went blurry. Plus he was loaded with fuel because he had two fuel tanks. But, in case of a bird strike or engine failure the plane will free fall because it has hella short delta wings. And it is heavy.
hey do u think that pilot has any time to think about the consequenses......... ?????/ i dont think he has............ and by the way its not the pilot responsible but the govt is to be blamed
absolutely amazing footage!! the gears were down indicating the pilot had problem right at takeoff!! lost the aircraft for a few secs. amazing ejection showing the ejector rocket flames. was this IAF? and when?
When you have civilians living that close to the runway enviroment, you don't punch out with a high alpha like that. That plane could go anywhere! Conserve your energy, maintain directional control & land straight ahead using the overrun or eject when the path is assured. Poor decision making took out a lot of folks on the ground.
Crash happend on June 14, 1986, when the pilot of a MiG-21 taking off from an air base in Bareilly, India, ejected. The aircraft crashed into nearby Rampurmasi Village, killing 13 people on the ground.
This crash didnt happened in Bareilly as told by dokomana. Dokomana simply cooked up the place and event COZ
1. The rescue vehicles consist of 2 TATA sumo, 1 newer version of Maruti Gypsy & IAF didnt have those in 1986.
3. MOST IMPORTANTLY, 1 OF THE GUYS FILMING VIDEO SAYS AT START.... "sir ye to rang de basanti (film) jaisa hai". & everyone know that the movie was released worldwide on 26jan2006 NOT IN 1986.
Not a serving officer but I'm very familiar with the Indian AF. This does not seem to be the crash from Bareilly, India. From the make/models of the vehicles responding to the crash and accent of the people talking it seems like its from Pakistan; in which case the aircraft is not a Mig-21 but the F-7 which is very similar & easily mistaken. The surrounding foliage also doesn't seem to be from Bareilly.
How do you film the ground by your feet right when the plane is going in ?

How many times I have to repeat myself... Mig-21 take off ONLY in afterburner mode. If burner doesn't work correctly it has to end up in a disaster.

@dokomana Just saw two of them at Airventure (EAA) take off minus afterburner. (They did however use most of our 8600 ft. runway!)

Plus cars and personal are too Pakistani to have any doubts.
It crashed inside the base not in a village
