  • Does this puffball have puple spores or just brown? Cyathiformis refers to the puple spores imho.

  • Yes, I know this. This is our "Giant Puffball" of the southeast, this is our largest species. I should have mentioned that...Thank you for adding your comment! TC

  • That is a Calvatia cyathiformis but its not a Giant puffball. The Giant puffball is Calvatia gigantea also known as Langermannia gigantea.

  • Thank you for your post as I did pull off the side of the road not more then an hour ago haha. Never seen one in person before. I tried Tom Volk's website for pronunciation but had no luck. Thanks again!
