  • gave it a like cos i can understand the annimation..but maybe a better rolling annimation wud do ur idea justice.. nice the way the ball resets it position after the cube rolls ..nice idea :). the ball wud have to roll a lot and impact the whole structure with some force to roll it over.

  • it will crash into something in the end...

  • wat

  • fake

  • it wouldn't work. the ball would require enough force to cause the entire 'square' to lift itself onto its corner and then back down. to do this you'd have to displace the center of gravity quite a bit. in turn the ball itself would add to the force keeping it from tipping over because as the square tips over it lifts the ball. what results is that even if you used a heavier ball to create more force to move the square it then becomes harder to lift itself. also overunity is impossible. :)

  • @Everfalling possibly it could if the outside was not a square but a circle

  • @dullvoicereader this wouldn't work either. if the outside were a circle, and the ball made to move toward a corner on the inside, the circle would move a bit as the weight of the ball changed the center of gravity, but it wouldn't be enough to then lift the ball in it's position in the corner and allow it to roll down to the next corner.

  • this is so random

  • hmmm it is a good idea, but it only went for 8 seconds because it hit a wall. what makes you thik it will go forever? there are a lot of obstacles out there

  • this wont work because of the weight of the ball is trying to push down instead of sideways.not enough inertia is produced to cause perpetual movement. BUT!!.., if you covered it with solar cells and used the electricity to attract a metal ball inside, with metal plates or more magnets perhaps, switching them on and off accordingly in order to keep the balls inertia going sideways. or you could use the solar energy to rewind a rubberband inside. in theory those 2 ideas might work. peace ;)

  • If the ball used has got a lot of mass, there´s enough inertia to push the device sideways.

  • This is just an idea i thought of, i don't think it will work, but its something one can work on :)

  • fail?

  • I don't see what the hell is happening. I see a ball that jumps from one position to another.

  • this one couldn't work,

the semi circular thing would go back before 'touching' the ground

  • Intriguing! Have you tested it yet?

  • Well latly I have come up with a new one, this one did nto work, and soon I will be posting a video of Besslers wheel as I have finally combinded his wheels and I believe I have found it, no one has faulted yet and I have done many tests, not long till my wheel is finished, then ill post a vid

    Alex

  • Ok the wheel is nearly finished, not sure if it will work now, the wheel is purely combined from besslers wheels, if you click my name you can see some of the footage before it was complete, well its not complete yet, but it nearly is

  • I like your vision.....thanks for sharing...

interesting depth for the mind to ponder...

  • make the ball lead and the frame its in aluminum or the lightest material possible even balsum wood. Make the frame with more sides (closer to roundness). Dont forget the energy used to knock the square over must also carry the ball upwards, so gravity used to go down and = energy to put it back up, but the knock takes away from that, but this kind of creativity mixed with others will make gravity power a reality some day.

  • it needs to go round the world?

  • pretty good! gets your brain going but still seems too easy to work.

  • You know those little balls that hamsters run along the floor in? What happens when the hamster stops running? The same thing will happen.

  • Round off the right corner of each side, and you got it.

  • if the square has enough weight to lever/lift up the ball, the ball isn't heavy enough to push the square forward is my guess.

Still i think it is a brilliant idea ! !

  • Well you see i designed the square to be able to take more weight on the left hand side than the right side forcing it to roll one way...

  • pls check the message I sent you.

  • Ok :)

  • With the flat side, it would definitely stop. Even if it was a circle, the ball inside would come to a middle point and stop.

    Just my guesses...

  • When one of the corners of the square points straight up you will probably reach equilibrium. Unless you have enough momentum...but who knows? Build it to find out. Brilliant idea however in its simplicity !

  • possibly man, but i think it would need a more stable condition, like the one in the video with the marble in the glass cabnet, it has a more stable envrioment, you know what i mean? the ball inside the thing could stop or it could lose momentum.

  • What do i search for the video you speak of?

  • This is an idea of mine to keep somthing rolling along the floor, what do you think, im not sure if it will work, before you discredit it, have a good look at it :)
