  • I love him he is a great artist, he speaks real life so well

    ..

  • Colin Hay has always been a great musician...I wish more of his music would be used in movie soundtracks.

  • He's just an amazing artist. Discovered much of his music and rediscovering my old favorites.

  • society takes us further from nature every day..unless god helps us, we'll all continue living like drone worker ants, who are insignificant, only here for the benefit of the colony

  • @longfootbuddy Unless God helps us? Take some initiative instead of waiting for the almighty creator to do it for you. Especially because religion has been used to enslave the simple minded in so many cases, you don't have too conform too being a worker drone, that's your choice, go ahead and make it like so many others.

  • @JammusMDH its not my choice, if i disobey the government, ill be fined, thrown in prison, or ultimately killed.. what can i do to stop the slavery to government? participate in the tyranny of the majority over the individual? violent rebellion? no...we will live like this until god frees us...believe me, i didnt consent to any of this.. the only thing i could think to do is stop working, thus stop paying income tax, and to speak out about it...and dont worry, im not collecting any gov. benefits

  • @longfootbuddy I'm not on about not working, I'm not on about paying taxes if your life makes you feel like a worker drone then that's your fault, not solely but you can try and do some thing about it instead of waiting for your God to do it for you, I bet if you were doing more things you love and spending more time with the people you love your life wouldn't feel insignificant. I don't see how the government can have such a big impact on your life to make you feel the way you do tbh.

  • @JammusMDH i dont feel insignificant.. i used to believe that we could unite against the united tide of tyranny, until i learned the real history of things.. the american revolution only enabled a masonic state...and any revolution we have now, will only hasten and empower a world government...i know its hard to see, but we have been falling into the traps all along.. evil is disguised as good.. people are easily conditioned, and are naive...we will go to n.w.o. whether people realise it or not

  • @JammusMDH its not a matter of me just feeling a certain way, like you let on..the world is a certain way, and i have come to realize it

  • @jax3294 we all have a song or two inside, and a story that is silly or sad or something, its that we need a translator like colin to make it sing....rofl

  • I cant wait to buy his new cd

  • I Haven't Heard a Colin Hay song yet that I didn't imediately fall in love with. Pure Music.

  • I know so many talented musicians like him that don't get the credit the deserve. Why is it that you have to sell out and be superficial to make it mainstream? Thank you for posting this song. I love all his music.

  • Almost John Prine like.

  • Absolute talent.

  • I'm going to see him play in April. Can't wait!

  • just listen to songs n how calming n easy listing are thses songs i cud listen to thses all days everyday

    cheers

  • I´m coming from Germany and searched for an colin hay album in a lot of shop´s and can´t find it, do anyone here know´s an i-net adress where i can get it?

  • @MrWeDSTr amazon.de?

  • Rank rotten cliche ridden smaltz...

  • I searched for Men at work one day (they are good), now I'm Colin Hay's fan. This man makes me remind don't know what.

  • he sits there and does this with no band , drums or nothing and he belts out songs that go back to the singers of old before electronics and back up singers. plain jane kickass music that go's to your heart.

  • Thanks for posting this song, it is beautifull. I have to get the album!

    Thanks again. Great song.

  • @Furdip no worries!

This is my newest youtube account as i kept forgetting the password of my otherone and my email address got deleted...haha

    Glad you liked though!

  • Colin is a true music genius...If you like aussie songsmiths then check out Paul Kelly as well...all aussies know of him

  • @wileypayote: Why bring such animosity into such a great atmosphere? Who really cares if someones an Aussie or not? Colin certainly isn't, well, a relocated one maybe. He's truely a Scot. So please, get over yourself and your anger and just enjoy the music.

  • I have several of his albums, they're all amazing. He's a wonderful person to meet and chat with as well - I strongly suggest seeing him live if you haven't. To those who have, you all ready know what I'm talking about! Love ya Colin!

  • One of the greatest things to come out of watching Scrubs is finding Colin Hay's music.

  • anyone know where to find Collin tabs?

  • @jimmyjimmyjimmyjames you can get his whole album on itunes f or 9.99 and all his other songs for like $.89 a piece

  • Gorgeous!!

  • ok! enough of the using words like mate, trying to pass urselves off as aussies, when you're probably from Minnesota or somewhere in the midwest.

  • @jax3294 lmao lol i know what u mean man lol

  • Why has nobody uploaded Going Somewhere? Please upload it, it's amazing!

  • I have listened to this guy for years and mate what a genius he really is..

  • Urthred was my old account, lol. Glad people are enjoying this song!

  • Thank you for uploading this. I can't believe how amazing this album is - Maggie, Children on Parade, Don't Wait Up.... This album is sublime.

  • I hear ya but at least someone can do it for us :)

Colin Hay just gets better and better

  • Colin Hay is still making great music after all these years. A true storyteller!

  • @tubehead357 U are correct What a story What a great writer & story teller

  • Just noticed Waiting For My Real Life To Begin on that album...A moving track that was used in Scrubs, sang by the actual cast.

  • Why can't I write songs like this?

  • you can friend.

  • AYE

  • again WE DO NOT CARE WE PREFER COLIN HAY THANK U VERY MUCH

  • Agreed!

  • the sweet ain't as sweet without the sour

  • this is one of the prettiest songs I have ever heard, very sad tho, and very true...

  • Another American here. Love this song and love this artist. I have for over 20 years now. Be careful with lumping people into categories. Blacks, whites, Americans, South Americans... Treat people as individuals. Which, of course, is what they are, first and foremost.

  • AMEN TO YOU GOOD SIR! YOU SPEAK TRUER WORDS THAN.... a truthful person? lol

  • im british and i completely agree. Said well.

  • I am not british but I also agree. Well said. ... lol

  • The more I listen to this man's work, the more i love it.

  • He's pretty good isn't he.......nice one Colin.

  • Metal dork?

  • I love this album! It's just SOOOOOOO 'Colin'...there's no other way to explain it! Every song is a masterpiece!

  • sweet colin hay!

  • yes yes, "we americans" aren't all top 40-aholics, and even then, it's ignorant to even judge them. everyone has their own tastes in music, and as we might dislike the music they listen to, they probably feel the same towards us. music is beautiful and diverse, and it takes that shape for a reason.

    p.s. i <3 colin hay

  • Me too.

You're right. If a person believes that top 40 performers like (name the pop star) produce great music, it's wrong for me to judge their taste. My Bad. It's also great that we're not forced to listen to that and have our own music to enjoy. The diversity really is what makes music so good.

  • There is so much cultural arrogance, in New York. A lot of people seemed stupid. They knew nothing about where we were from. People would say, `You speak such good English and I would be thinking, `Are you a moron?

    Colin Hay.

  • The point was the Majority of the public (Tend To) get their music from Idol or top 40 radio and miss really awesome music like Lucinda, Colin, and a host of others. Since you are aware of these artists, you are not part of that category. I thought it was obvious, because I'm sure you know people who only listen to the pop radio station and watch Idol-type shows, but that was ignorant of me.

  • I second bones comment, we Americans also have people John Hiatt, Townes Van Zant, Steve Forbert and Lucinda Williams to name but a few..Not all of us are into Idol... I for one cant stand it... Its the music industry that shoves all that shit down everyone throat...Some of us cant tell the good from the bad.

  • I'm a fan of real musicians and songwriters, and Colin is one of the best. It's a shame that Americans tend to get their music from American Idol!!

  • I wish you were wrong, but it is true it is an American Idol world and the music industry is just taking on water and sinking

  • ....Just like Titanic, my friend

  • what the hell are you talking about, im an american who watched one part of one episode of Idol and never again. if any of the music i enjoy is on it it is without my knowledge. to group one of the lrgest nations in the world like that is ... ignorant

  • reints, you are a jackass

  • Colin Hay is terrific.I am rediscovering his music.I hope he has new stuff out.

  • the song you mean is called "beautiful world"...all around is anger, automatic guns, death in large numbers no respect for women and our little ones?

  • yeah, thats the one =]

  • can anyone tell me the song where the chorus is this is as good as it gets?please

  • I think that's "Beautiful World"

  • thanks man

  • Yeah - My wife and I saw him a couple years back promoting his "Man At Work" cd. His music should be played much more than what it is, but places like the US anyway are more interested in TV shows like "American Idol", where both adults and their children have the 'power' where they can elect a star (lol just like Taylor Hicks)

  • Exactly. People here don't realize what's in front of us sometimes - I actually know a few people who don't know why people like Colin Hay and The Who are so great. I don't talk to them anymore.

  • I don't know much about Colin Hay, I've discovered it a couple of weeks ago watching a tv-show(Scrubs) on my computer. He played a song in the show called Overkill. I felt in love with that song and downloaded a couple more (Beautifull world, Water song, Cactus something*,etc...). He's damn talented. I have to buy every album he's created! How many did he made? Two or three? or more?

Thanks for uploading that song! 5*

  • Hi, this is my new account =]

he actually made around 6 albums, origanally he was in a band called men at work? I believe they had a number one years back

    Land down under?

good song, bit dated but what isn't? =]

  • I'm still listening to Rootblues (John Lee Hooker, Hound Dog Taylor, etc.), so nothing realy gets "dated" for me ^_^

Thanks for the info. Next time I'll be in a cd-store, I'll look into it (I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna love it).

  • heh.. I found him through scrubs aswell.. or technically..

I had heard and many times listened to Men at Work, and then after a while I see Colin Hay in Scrubs and I thaught he was great.. Just a few weeks ago I came to realise that he was the singer in Men at Work..

  • Colin hay needs to be more recognized. He's incredible.

  • have done - the guys a genius and a good Scotsman though he moved to Australia at 14 - still has Scottish accent

  • I always find it hard to believe that a real muscian with such meaningful lyrics and music to capture the feeling of the story can be so unknown. Trying to get his music or guitar tabs is next to impoosible. Thanks for introducing me to this song. You should check out Waiting for my real life to begin, and, Beautiful world. Around two classics by colin james hay. spread the word, he deserves it.

  • I Have His Entire Album, I Think It's Possibly The Best Album I've Ever Heard :D

  • @Urthred I totally agree! His other work (with the CH Band, men at work) is good, but Going Somewhere just hits my heart every time. When i was going through a serious depression a year ago i listened to it most everyday, just something about it, about him that touches me (us!).

  • @sseleanor

Agree with me that a song is almost always more incredible when you can't play it. Colin Hay is amazing. Like you, I feel sick that people like Justin Bieber and Rihanna are getting all this exposure and fame, when Colin Hay just sits in the shade with all this raw talent.

  • @sseleanor feel it when u play. become the feeling. you are creating the feelings.play and dont stop. eventually you will be it, as he has done. Good Luck.

  • @mikeplant421

Thanks man. I know what you mean, I've felt it.

  • @sseleanor One of my other favorite artist Ray LaMontagne said this about his last record then his label RCA didn't like it. “RCA, [wasn’t] happy at all. I was. And so at that point, it’s really up to you as an artist to draw a line in the sand. You either want to jump through hoops for some guy in a suit at a record label until they’re happy or you just have to believe in yourself and what you’ve done.” He won a Grammy for it.
