What was your Double set to? If it was Vertical then you were using almost the EXACT same set-up I used to beat Arcade mode... Except I used Rotating Options and had Full Barrier (Don't know what you had ! set to)

@BuyMeThingsnow Umm, S.Spread are your missiles. But I guess it doesn't matter what your Double was then. But I find switching between Double and Lasers pretty useful on certain levels in Gradius games.

Didn't most of these bosses appear in other Konami shootemups? I could sworn that I have seen that Crystal thing and the rotating missle launcher in Life Force or something.

Yes some of them. The "beacon" boss in particular appears in all it's glory near the end of Gradius V.

@Kyithios You're welcome. Also there are a few other bosses and enemies in Gradius 5 from both this game and some of the older ones (such as the original Gradius and Lifeforce) that appear in 5. The boss at 1:00 also appears. As does the gun wall at 5:07 and a crazy version of the wall walkers at 5:43. There are a lot of series references in 5 but I can't remember all of them off the top of my head.

Excellent video, dude. This was the 3rd game I ever owned on my SNES, and I played it so much, I could actually make it through Arcade difficulty using the twin lasers, and V-formation options and lose only 2 or 3 lives in a single run through. Of course, I never smoked through the bosses like you did!

the e-laser is definitely the strongest weapon.. its almost too much of an advantage at some points, as you displayed. a good test of skill is to use a different laser - or even better, no lasers.

Yes it is a bit on the overpowered side. My best bet for the reason of this is that the E-laser was borderline useless in the arcade version. It took nearly twice the time to charge and did half the damage. So they tried to fix it and ended up making it completely cheap and broken.

Which don't really do much and just dissolve away, save for probably the final bosses of Graidus Gaiden, Salamander 2, and others that I am forgetting. Gradius V is definetly one of the harder games in the series, also, its alot more fun to me that way. But no, I can't ace Gradius V. I can barely surivie on Gradius II. XD

This is the super nes version. The E-laser is greatly weakend in the arcade version. It takes twice as long to charge and does only half the damage. They made it extremely powerfull in the super nes version.

I dont know. I'm guessing its in english. as the gradius final bosses usually do speak in english. but its so slowed down and distorted that its really hard to figure out. even after listening to it a few times I still cant figure out what he's saying.

E laser is the most powerful weapon and I like it. The last boss went down almost as fast as the first. 5 stars.
