I go out with friends, have a fantastic time, go home, wake up early the following morning, go to work and remember everything that happened and still have money in my purse. Drunk driving is way more dangerous than texting while driving. When your drunk, your body is out of control and cant function properly. If your texting you could just drop the phone and start driving. You cant just stop being drunk while behind the wheel if you already drank.

And it doesnt matter if you drop your phone after you get into the accident. Its too late then. The whole point is a drunk driver has far better reaction time than someone who needs to drop a phone to avoid an accident. MADD has gone too far. They are neo-prohibitionists who will take every right a person has until they achieve a .05 law. I belive with their endorsement of rolling tests breathalyzers actually make the roads less safe. My son was doing a rolling test and veered to the left lane because of the blatant distraction device. He almost hit a cop car to boot with the Officer giving him a ticket for improper lane useage. The judge and district attorney for Menard County, Il. through the ticket out.

Also, contrary to what MADD and the NHTSA would like you to believe, the vast majority of fatal DUI crashes are single vehicle crashes where the drunk driver kills no one but himself and has a BAC well over .15. Most of these crashes occur on dark country roads at night where the drunk driver either falls asleep, fails to negotiate a curve, or is driving 110 miles an hour. People who drive 6 blocks home from the bar aren't killing anyone.

I am from the UK where we have as the rest of Europe has quite a laid back attitude to Alcohol, our Minimum Age to buy Alcohol is set at 18 which is fair as international Age of Majority is set at 18.

If MADD only advocated against drunken driving, there would be nothing wrong. But what they have done is to lower the BAC to create more DUI arrests. As you see now in the "Buzzed driving" commercials, they are soon going to push for even lower BAC definition for DUI.

Law enforcement needs to focus on these people instead of harassing law abiding citizens. Also, the vast, vast majority of DUI fatal crashes happen on highways and county roads, yet cops focus on city streets where fatal crashes rarely happen, and give out DUI's to people who get pulled over for a license plate light out.

Drunk driving is way more dangerous than texting while driving. When your drunk, your body is out of control and cant function properly. If your texting you could just drop the phone and start driving. You cant just stop being drunk while behind the wheel if you already drank.

Every study has shown texting while driving is far more impairing than drunk driving.
And it doesnt matter if you drop your phone after you get into the accident. Its too late then. The whole point is a drunk driver has far better reaction time than someone who needs to drop a phone to avoid an accident. You arent driving an obstacle course... the only thing that matters is your reaction time at the point of incident.
