why the phuck are they happy / dancing, it was just another president who didnt go through with what he said he was going to do, and made you all look like idiots for voting for him. unkept promises and nothing more.
In some online communities I go to, people compared the partying after Obama's victory to the Return Of The Jedi ending in that each represented a major victory over something.
Ironic, because as the cracked.com article "6 most depressing happy endings" argues, the RotJ ending doesn't imply as much of a victory over the empire as it seemed to. Similarly, the Obama victory didn't imply as much of a victory over the far right as it seemed to.
This looks like so much fun. I should have gone to downtown LA and skipped my high school homework at the time. But where are the all the butthurt Republicans? That would have been interesting.
@xWren I'm with you man - I really think it's a problem with the system, not the politicians. Obama made promises, Ron Paul makes promises, everyone makes promises, but they're just cogs. The power of this video is people power. We have to keep fighting, just like you're doing by making this post. Much love.
This is still the most touching video I've ever seen. Not because I support Obama (I don't really believe in the two party system), but because of everyone's EXCITEMENT. Everyone was so happy, so unified, so excited to take action. I know people have been working hard, and if you aren't involved in activism, you don't see it - but I have to wonder, what happened? What will it take to get us here again? <3 Good thoughts to everyone.
I loved Seattle.. It is soo free and people there are soo awesome. I was there in the crowd somewhere..lol The club we are all dancing in front of is called Neighbors.. Its my hangout place when in Seattle.. Now I live in Minneapolis, MN. Love you Seattle...
He'll win again in 2012. The teabaggers got the Mormon and the Moron. Besides we have the votes now and will have an even larger block in a few years.
From Sydney with love. No other president has brought out people on the streets like this before. He didn't create the job losses or the financial meltdown. But he is slowly fixing it. Don't be bitter. I don't see how the GOP would have done better!
well, he is the first colored president and the people in these videos are self hateing, clueless whites, so it's no suprise there. Obama is "fixing" jack and shit. i'll assume your not following current events and your still living in November 4th 2008.
mate ur lack or education and obvious racism is sad. and for you to assume we don't get the news in Australia is calling 21 million of us uneducated. This is why u r from South Boston!
last time i checked, it was your Mulatto president Obongo who supported/fought for banks giving loans for houses to minorities with bad credit. when they couldn't (naturally) afford the payments, they simply left and stuck the bank for the bill. F--- OBAMA, the world's predictably worst President
On October 25, 2008 Bush has gave an emergency stimulas to the banks with no accountability for all that billions of dollars of tax paying monies. Maybe the banks should have failed then if they were too big to fail I think they were too big to live. So in the case that you think banks were giving too much loans and credit lets just ban credit cards all together since millions of Americans are in debt with credit card balances. Without credit the economy today would fail
how is he communist? who passed the patriot act, warrantless wiretapping, fisa courts, airline bailouts, etc.? You obviously have no idea how/why communism/socialism/totalitarianism works...

Capitol Hill is home to the most Rabid Left hypocrites on the U.S. West Coast. Mostly a bunch of spoiled rich kids whose parents focused on giving them large trust funds, but failed to instill any common sense in them.
The only "contact" these little princes & princesses have with the "common person" is ignoring them as the latter cleans up their dishes and sets their tables.
If Ignorance were a virtue, Capitol Hill would be its second home.
Obama is spending my money like a drunken sailor in a whorehouse using his ex-girlfriend's credit card the same night she gave him a dear John letter.
Not even one year to turn around so many years. How much are we willing to give to keep America a Great Nation? Come on we Can Do This. Don't be so weak. We are of the USA. Yes We Can hold together. Ever do project work, great at beginning, horrid in the middle (this is when failures retreat) and then it is done and how proud we are. Think of moving USA and world to a better place as an 8 year project. I am as much if not more with Pres. Obama than I was on this day of his election.
That was fucking amazing! Great song. Even if Obama doesn't live up to the hype... the emotions for everyone was so damn real that night. It takes me back and I wouldn't have it any other way.
i voted for him and now i'm let down. but i'll still always remember how happy i was when he was elected. hopefully mr. president will remember to help the people of this great nation instead of giving handouts to corporations as well as neutralizing the anti-war left.

yeah right. when he escalates the war in afghanistan and requests 45,000 troops, that's when you know he's working for the military industrial complex. i'm sorry, he's a cool guy but he's not a president for the people.
to the folks who gave me thumbs down, do you deny that he will escalate an unnecessary war and that even though he lead a populist message against corporations, he catered to them since he was inaugurated?
if he would have let the corporations fail then this whole country would be in a way worse shape. He had to save them..he has not catered to them. Didn't he just make them take a pay cut? The war in Afghanistan was the right one in the first place. He is moving us out of Iraq which is what he promised to do, he said he would focus more on Afghan. He is keeping his promises
This was so exciting and the momemtum is growing. The latest Gallup poll shows 38 states blue, 8 swing and only 5 red: Alaska, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Alabama. Lets keep up the good work and pass health care. I still get goose bumps watching this.
i haven't watched this in so long! what a beautiful night that was. the purest and most absolute bliss! i feel so lucky to have been a part of it. journey will never be the same for me after that experience!
If ur from Seattle, you should search youtube for the video called, BUS STOP DANCER IN SEATTLE. He's the most talented street dancer! And if you're lucky, you may have seen him!
Meanwhile, Gus Gundersen, 77, having made a "quick trip" to the Shell gas station, found himself trapped for four hours while surrounded by raucous youth. He layed on his horn nearly non-stop, but nobody heard his furtive honks.
Upon Gus expiring, the partygoers "body surfed" his corpse to a nearby medical examiner's van.
Six months later, nobody has had the courage to break the news to his widow, Gladys, who continues to wonder what's taking Gus so "goddamned long" to come home.
this sends chills down my spine every time i see it.. and makes me cry because i wish i could've been there, or just even in the US to experience this.
goddam americans! "Don't stop believing"...then 100 days later your'e all criticizing him for not making a change. How the fuck could he change a country for the better in 100 days? Honestly, you are all so fucking deluded, I'm glad I left before my education started
You know, sometimes I get a little fed up with the passive-aggressive type this city seems to breed/attract, but at the end of the day, there are great people in Seattle.

Obama will spend money that will go to the people not to oil tycoons of Bush
Actually, kglisson89, we're glad you don't live in Seattle either. If this joyous celebration---God, it felt so good to breathe again---upsets you, that makes it even better.
Best of all---you have no choice but to face the future under our new liberal, black president, Barack Hussein Obama!!! Woo Hoo!
Actually i'm a democrat and if you would have taken the time to look at my profile you would of realized that..I ,my good man was talking about the song and the lack of rythmn of white america
Of course he's "just a man". A man who will ban torture, appoint intelligent, progressives to the courts, end the occupation of Iraq, establish universal health care and much, much more. McCain would have been a continuation of the nightmare.
We won. You lost. The one with "mental problems" is you. I'm just so happy that people with your disturbed and angry outlook are on the outside looking in.
This celebration was WONDERFUL! Pure Joy! And if makes people like you mad, all the better!
ok one time there was a girl called devil and every girl hated her and she aventully died because a angry mob came and hung her even her mom and dad and every friday the 13 she comes and hangs people how hurt her and if u dont put this on 15 video before 12:00pm she will come and kill u and no turning back u are ready read it and remeber she knows were u live ooooooooooooooooooooo boooo!! i did not it to i was so scared i herd a ghost voices
Great energy! I wish I was there that night..stuck on the boring eastside! hahaha! :) I'm going to DC in a week for the inauguration of President Barack Obama! Yeah baby!! YES WE DID!
I'm so proud of my home city. I wish I had been there. Not that hearing primal screams of pure joy all across a college campus was bad, but this, this was something else.
Fuckin' Seattle. I had to work at the Westin that night in valet. Too bad people weren't happy with the tips when it's non stop cars for hours on end.
I was in Alabama when Obama won (I'm still here) but I'm moving to Seattle later this year. I wish wish wish wish wish people got this happy here. Everyone here was SO pissed off. I LOVE this song by the way. It's not fair at all that I wasn't there. I would've loved to celebrate with you guys.
This year was one of the most exciting i've ever had, i'm gonna miss everything about it but it's sadly time to move on. Can't wait til Jan 20th. Merry Christmas and Happy New year all.
fucking best day of my life, and i will remember this forever. that was really exciting!! everyone was so happy and or drunk/stoned. it just set off a really awesome vibe that is still in me
I was there that night, still getting the chills. I want a time machine, want to go back to the War Room 8p on Nov 4th, when MSNBC and all other networks called elections for Barack. The best moment in my life, I want to relive it again and everything else that followed that night on the Capitol Hill. Whenever I watch any clips reflecting on that night and how Seattle got together and the whole world, I start crying :). Thank You Barack, Thank You Americans!

U ARE MISGUIDED,
Seattle, rocks...
yoyoimhome 3 years ago
Actually, kglisson89, we're glad you don't live in Seattle either. If this joyous celebration---God, it felt so good to breathe again---upsets you, that makes it even better.
Best of all---you have no choice but to face the future under our new liberal, black president, Barack Hussein Obama!!! Woo Hoo!

Makes me sorry to live in Seattle
themisianos 3 years ago
Makes me sorry too. Wish you'd leave. There's a small town in Alabama or Oklahoma where you'd fit in perfectly.
I'm glad you're such a small and insignificant part of this well educated, enlightened town.
We kicked your ass!

Actually i'm a democrat and if you would have taken the time to look at my profile you would of realized that..I ,my good man was talking about the song and the lack of rythmn of white america

He is just a man. Not a messiah, not a god, not a magical, mystical figure. JUST A MAN. People acting like this have mental problems.
serneityfan 3 years ago
Of course he's "just a man". A man who will ban torture, appoint intelligent, progressives to the courts, end the occupation of Iraq, establish universal health care and much, much more. McCain would have been a continuation of the nightmare.
We won. You lost. The one with "mental problems" is you. I'm just so happy that people with your disturbed and angry outlook are on the outside looking in.
This celebration was WONDERFUL! Pure Joy! And if makes people like you mad, all the better!

Conservatives are sore losers. But who can blame them when it appears that liberals are such immodest, in-your-face winners.
