  • Looking forward to a day at the range here this week end!! LOL Ya better come out & go with us!! Have fun, take care & STAY SAFE!! :)

  • @HerbWalker Sounds good to me. You gentlemen have fun. I'll do all of the above.

  • Go to any Big Shots house, he has Body Guards that carry TWICE this much gear!!! For you guys that dont think that GUNS in your home are the answer when Mr. Bad Guy comes to YOUR house, .....When he breaks in on you & your family .....JUST talk to him, maybe he wont put the Duct tape on TOO hard??? Stay READY, Train, Be prepared. If you dont NEED it then GOOD, but iF you DO, You are READY!!!

"A Gun is like a seat belt, If you dont have it ON when you need it, then it is ALREADY too LATE!!!"

  • @HerbWalker Hi Herb Walker and thank you for the comment. I can't understand why someone flagged this as spam but I unflagged it and hopefully it stays unflagged and thank you very much for your input. Any you're 100% right on about everything you said here.

  • that's one long thumbnail....really like your vids, it has been good to have 2 new vids after you didn't make one for 2 months

  • @spsmith78 Thanks much. I'm glad you enjoy my vids. The reason for the thumbnail is it plays classical guitar along with the other fingernailson that hand, which are all broken now from my trip to Front Sight. Something about shooting and doing the weapons manipulations breaks fingernails.

But anyway I have more coming up soon. Thanks for your interest.

  • @firearmsdefense you are actually one of my favorite channels on youtube, informative and pragmatic.

  • @spsmith78 Informative is nice to know because that's what I try and do. Pragmatic, LOL. Pragmatic is a very nice word for cynical. I guess maybe that comes with the territory of being firearmsdefense.

  • Very Informative for those of us on the East coast it's a bit far to travel I do like the idea of training with "the pros" Thank's again for the video effort

  • @amacro11 You're right about that. I live in CA and even though I have a lifetime membership and it doesn't cost me anything to take 4 day handgun anymore there are still all the incidental costs which add up. There's about $100 in gas, about $400 for the stay in the hotel, about $200 to $300 in ammunition and about $100 to $200 just for meals and incidentals. By my simple grade school arithmetic that's about $1000, more or less? Add in airfare and it's just not doable.

  • hey firearms defense!

question... I've heard from few people that FrontSight does a lot of "selling" and they constantly try to get you to take more and more courses from them. How true is that?

  • @KiloSierraAlpha As with any organization of that type in our capitalistic society that's certainly true. Also I have the impression they are very dependent on cash flow. I think that's the reason for your feeling.

I also had that feeling a long time ago. That's why I purchased a Diamond Membership when I had the chance. I don't remember what the cost was but it was far cheaper than the 8 times I've been so far.

  • @KiloSierraAlpha Yes, they do try to get you do buy courses or a membership etc. but you don't have to drink the cool-aid. I'm not sure about the selling now as I "think" they stopped selling lifetime memberships. They had a bunch of good sales recently and many people like me bought extra memberships so we can get good deals for people we know. I've taken 3 courses already and plan to take a bunch more so it was worth it for me.

  • @maniakaz Double LOL. When I took up shooting I didn't really understand that it's a expensive middle class hobby, like golf.

Well, maybe not quite as expensive as golf but in all honesty I don't see very many poor people at Front Sight. When you consider that every time you press the trigger and send 240 grains downrange that's 50 cents and if you shoot a real live person and it's a hollow point that's a buck and a quarter you understand it's not a poor mans game.

  • What was the time limit you needed to perform each skills tests in order to qualify as a graduate?

  • @bladeimm It'a actually an individual time for each act, for instance they tell you to deliever a controlled pair to the thoracic cavity and you have a certain amount of time to complete it. All to the shooting acts are timed individually, as are the reloading procedured and the malfunction clearances.

I don't actually know what the times are, I just assumed that I was too slow on them. I was real happy with my shooting though, especially with the Sig. (cont. next post)

  • @bladeimm (cont. from previous post) I'll try to find out and let you know. Maybe I can read up on it or find it in some of my Front Sight literature.

  • @firearmsdefense Its in the dry practice books BUT the times in my book are for the turning targets. They changed the times since they stopped using turning targets. The times for the malfunction tests was still the same.

  • @maniakaz Thanks much for the info. I'll take a look and see what I can find. I noted that also because I remember the turning targets. It's interesting that they stopped using them.

  • Did they explain why they don't allow blackhawk serpa holsters anymore? Read that on the website under equipment needed. I was Just curious.

  • @MrJasonBoudreaux Because it's super easy to shoot yourself with them. It's a complicated topic but do some searching and you'll find videos explaining it. User landshark22 has good videos on it so look it up.

A member of YT gun community Derek tex Grebner shot himself with it and he posted a video... he then appeared on tosh.0 TV show.

  • @MrJasonBoudreaux They don't allow blackhawk serpa holsters or any other holster with a retention device anymore because there have been several accidents nationwide caused by that feature.

In fact the holster I used for my Sig had a retention device, which I disabled.

There is no reason for a holster to have a retention device at Front Sight. The reason for them as I understand it is so no one can take them away from a law enforcement officer or they don't fall out on duty.

  • A few questions for ya... How are the prices of that new ammo sales spot? As a Diamond member the Front sight pro shop ammo price was "decent". I used it a couple time to make sure I had enough a couple times. Do frontsight lifetime members get discounts from that ammo company? Also, how would you compare the Best Western to Saddle west? We have always stayed at Saddle west and was wondering if you could compare them.

  • @maniakaz Front Sight told us at the one of the lunchtime meetings that their prices are better than Front Sights. I didn't check them out as I bought 500 rounds with me and didn't really need anymore. It's really close, their price vs. our Diamond member 40% discount. We don't get discounts from the ammo spot because their prices are about as low as possible. Also I mainly shoot 9mm because my XD is a better range weapon and 9mm is cheaper. The only reason I had my (cont. next post)

  • @firearmsdefense Only 500 rounds? I always bring 1000 and seem to have < 200 left. Of course, I gave up picking up the live ammo I drop. Just not worth the headache. You should have seen it when 5 of us went at once. We all shoot 45 and we had a couple 9mm backups. We had over 7000 rds of ammo in this poor minivan with 5 people, the firearms, and winter clothes. We bought all 7000 rounds at once last time which got us a discount. I think the gas mileage suffered a bit :)

  • @maniakaz Wow! you gentlemen are real firearms enthusiasts, LOL. I'm just a wana-be.

  • @maniakaz (cont. from previous post) Sig P220 with me was I wanted to put some range time on it and see how it shot. I wanted to see if I could shoot with it since it's a double action.

I've stayed at the Saddle West several times. I think the Best Western is much better. The window air conditioner units at the Saddle West were old and didn't work well and kept me awake all night. The ones at the Best Western work much better. Overall I think Best Western is much better.

  • @firearmsdefense Thanks for the info. We don't have our hotel rooms yet as its still 3 months out but we will be getting it soon. I understand the double action fun fully. I've used my Ruger p90 dc (no safety) for all my frontsight trips. This time I'm going to run an M&P 45. I got my G last time and I'd love to get my DG so I can do the advanced tactical but I don't think I'm quite there yet. Too bad there isn't a skill builder in March when I can go or I'd take that.

  • @maniakaz It sounds to me like you're almost there. Keep up the good work.
