  • it would have been awesome to see both chet and arthur lyman do this live... just guitar and vibs. RIP both of them.

  • * * * * *

  • Love that beluga whale- had to hear another version of this song.

  • i posted a yellow bird by chet atkins guitar lesson plan here on youtube, it was this video from daffy's site that was sent to me by a friend that i fell inlove with, ihad never heard the song, thanks daffydoug.

  • @deonal You're welcome! Where can we view your video?

  • @deonal i first heard him play this on an old tv special. i'm SO HAPPY to find it here. thanks.

  • I play Chet's arrangement of Yellow Bird when I'm out busking and it's by far (along with his arrangement of The Third Man Theme) the most popular tune in my repertoire. Chet was the greatest.

  • @judebnaylor Yes he was! By leaps and bounds!

  • I like this song very much, so that I try to play it in my channel

  • This is one of my favorites. Of course, it's hard to choose. They are all beautiful. Thank you ever so much.

  • This music is a traditional Haitian folk song that called Ti'zwazso "little bird". Harry Belafonte made the original English version "yellow bird". I love this song. It reminded me of my childhood.

  • My ten year old son has been taking guitar lessons for over a year now and his favorite player is by far Mr. Chester Adkins, may he RIP. I had the pleasure of meeting him years ago in Belle Meade, TN. Had to be the late 60's or early 70's. He had an antique car we talked about. We listen to Chet and adore everything he does with the guitar. Thanks for posting.

  • @charlindabob Glad you found it. You are right, Chet's music is irreplaceable. I'm going to put all of mine on a tiny chip the size of my fingernail.. And I will guard that chip with my life. Right now my PC is having problems. It keeps shutting down, but my son is backing up my files and tonight will wipe my hard drive clean and reinstall Windows.

  • Great post! Thanks!

  • Very nice.

  • Chet Atkins could have done a wonderful version of Moon River.

    I sure wish he did.

  • @CodyL211 If he did... Can some one PLEASE tell me where to find it!!

  • @CodyL211 I have everything Chet ever recorded, including studio out takes, and I can assure you, he never recorded it.

    Daff

  • @daffydoug That's too bad. I guarantee it would have been wonderful! Is there somewhere i can download the songs, or possibly buy? I've been trying to find an audio file of his version of Mr. Bojangles. It's one of my favorite songs he has done.

  • @CodyL211 Which version? He did at least two versions of Bojangles, and I think I uploaded them both.

When I saw Chet in concert in 1989, Bojangles was the first tune he did when he came out on stage, and he did it in a very brisk tempo.

  • @daffydoug Well, preferably the version from a video on here called

Chet Atkins - Mr.Bojangles from the user BeautifulGuitarMusic.

I like the slower version, mostly :)

  • Existe una versión de Celia Cruz en una colección de casetes. Ahi conocí esta canción que es tradicional Haitiana. Muy linda

  • very beautiful tune! and excellent chet atkins compilation too. do you have by any chance his gavotte in d? i had a tape of that before, but was destroyed by molds :(

  • to any guitarists i have an old Chet Atkins lp of Beatles song i will give

for free. So loved this song when i heard it on an old tv special

    tune.

years i have searcxhed for this song

copy. if anyone know where i can get a copy please let me know.60stars

  • R.I.P Chet Atkins

    1924 - 2001

  • Two Words.

    Love It. =)

  • anyone know where i can find a tab for this song?

  • I can only find a tab for the first part, they want paying for the rest of it! The first bit is quite easy anyhow, have to de-tune to DGDGBE.

  • Pure magic.

  • true. i love the orgional versiion that came out in the 60's it was by a sring band of

some kind. woulod love to find copy of

    that one too.

  • Check out the version done by The Mills Brothers. That's the one from my childhood around that same time. :)

  • I wish soneone would upload the entire CARRIBEAN GUITAR album; I played my old LP copy so many times I nearly wore it out. "The Enchanted Sea" is one of my favorite tracks from that album; Chet was a master.

  • I'll try to upload more tunes from the album for ya' (If you'll so a search, I think I have done at least a couple from that album. But I try to mix things up to keep people surprised, and to add variety.

  • another great Lp if you can find it is Chet

Atkins picks on the Beatles. I hve it, but don't

have anyway of making a copy. maybe

you can special order it somewhere

  • @billyguns2 I hear you! I loved that one and Finger Pickin Good. Finger Pickin Good was the first LP that I bought with my own money. Unfortunately I lost all my vinyl in a moving wreck. Even tho I tried to look at it like it was just material things they can be replaced, I don't think that now because some of my old vinyl you can't get replaced unless you got loads of cash. Chet was my guitar god as a child. Thanks for posting Doug!

  • Hi, daffydoug. Chet Atkins has always been my favorite guitarist through the years. I, like you, have tried to emulate his technique. This multi-track recording, with its statement pauses, is beautfully rendered. I recently uploaded my version of "Yellow Bird" as a multi-track recording, based on the Norman Luboff Choir arrangement. Would love to have you visit my site and leave a comment and rating on my plebeian effort. Am including you among my subcsriptions. Cordially, John

  • I'll try to get over there sometime..keep on me.

I'm just so overwhelmed these days. I barely find time to sleep. (knowhutimeen?)

  • Comment removed

  • I love it and all its subtleties.

  • This is what we called music. Thx to the one who were so generous to share this with us.

  • Are you sure this is Chet Atkins? I have his version and he makes no mistakes, this version is quite flawed in its' timing and execution.

  • Yes it's Chet. Right off his record. Where's the flaws you are referring to?

  • I have a record of Chet called Chet Atkins Caribbean Guitar on RCA Records & was the only version I have ever heard. There are many picking differences, timing and consistency of the melody. I should've used the word 'different'not'flawed' I have NEVER heard Chet flawed. If I still had a good turntable I could share this version with you but if I recall correctly you posted Mayan Dance which is also on the same album that I own. That may be the other version you were speaking of.

  • I have both albums (Class Guitar and Caribbean Guitar) Total, Chet recorded two arrangements of this tune.

    Myself? I like 'em both!

  • Good correction there RB630.........I too have NEVER heard a Chet flaw.

  • Thank you Mr.Nancy

  • This is a beautiful old tune, make me feel nostalgic. Thank you much for uploading this.
