I would think that Mr. Pakman's argument based on the premise of GE's ownership of NBC would be better researched. Fact checking and accuracy may not be his forte.

There are binding conditions soundly affirmed by contractual law. Like it or not, it is what it is. Recent examples of conditional/terminable employment would include, Juan Williams(NPR,) Don Imus(MSNBC,) and Rick Sanchez(CNN.)

Apparently David Pakman does not keep up on media outlets or who owns the networks. GE announced in December 2009 that Comcast would be the Majority shareholder of NBC. Although final regulatory approval has not been given, NBC EXECS are leaving like President Obama's Economic advisors. Comcast appointees are moving in. I would think that Mr. Pakman's argument based on the premise of GE's ownership of NBC would be better researched. Fact checking and accuracy may not be his forte.

He can make political donations, but he needs to disclose the donation and have it approved by the company first, as per per his contract to comply with corporate policy. There are binding conditions soundly affirmed by contractual law. Like it or not, it is what it is. I would be a perennial worst person on Olbermann's list. I am an evil minarchist libertarian Republican. Anti war, pro limited government, pro civil liberty, pro free market and believer in private property.
MSNBC is infringing upon Olbermann's 1st amendment rights. Does he not have the right to support a candidate and hence make a donation?
Rejecting government doesn't mean trading state tyranny for corporate tyranny. Tyranny is tyranny.

He could donate if he wanted. He is suppended not for donating the funds but for not disclosing it. Also it was only for 2 days and it was MSNBC that suspended him. Not the FCC or anyone else.

The name calling is not called for. If MSNBC SAYS YOU HAVE TO GET SOMETHING PRE-APPROVED,THEN THERE IS A WINDOW WHERE THIS TYPE OF THING IS ALLOWED. I DON'T FEEL THAT THIS IS A OFFENSE THAT YOU GET FIRED FOR. THE ACTION COMMITTED ( donations) DO NOT FIT THE SOLUTION (indefinite suspension) THAT MSNBC PASS DOWN. Isn't it illegal for any corporation to infringe on the first amendment rights of any of it's employees? This is no different that Walmart threatening employees who were in favor of health care reform. It's illegal. The rule should be challenged. It would be different if (like Glenn Beck) he used countdown as a forum to solicit contributions.
