infact they do have something similar to that idea in space already, its called the Simplified Aid for EVA Rescue (safer)
it is a small cold gas based "thruster pack" that is strapped on to the astronuats space suit and it provides astronauts the ability to rescue themselves should they get "flung off" of either the space station or the Shuttle. before that they used the Manned Manuvering Unit (MMU) that provided a larger propellant capacity in order to let astronauts capture satalites
Thanks for noticing, and this early test was only done at only 50% of its full power potential. I haven't had it up to 100% power YET!. I'm waiting for some new fuel pressure regulator parts to arrive. Tethered practicing will resume in the early spring.
It is a catiylitic reaction rocket motor similiar to those used to maneuver high altitude aircraft and spacecraft. It is about the size of a can of beans, runs at 1300 deg. and develops approx. 1000hp and sits about 12in. away from the pilots head.
well during world war 2, they used for the "komit" rocket plane hydrogen peroxide sent through a catylictic screen to create the thrust. its a rocket, just a one fuel rocket.
It looks like he got scared when the other guy comes with the garden hose.

They've been around since WW2... Do some research before you open your mouth.

uhm.....you do know how oxy-acetylene torches work, right? Not a good idea to use so much oxygen.

thats more of an expansion chamber than a rocket motor which actualy combusts good work though

now sit in it :)

You don't sit in it, you strap it on your back and fly!:)

And it has about a 20 min flight time and altho its called a "rocket" belt/pack watever u wanna say its actualy using super heated steam.
