  • @Jeffrizel1986 o if you are claiming that than just fuck you

  • fuck you

  • I saw this mask when it came to Los Angeles on "The Treasures of Tutankhamen" U.S. tour around 1977-8. I looked it directly in the eyes and haven't been the same since. It is unnervingly life like.

In my humble opinion, for its size, its the finest work of art in the world. Interestingly, it was never intended to be a work of art, but a funerary offering from his people. He was only 19. The planning and skill that had to go into it, and when it was created is pretty awesome.

  • @GereDJ OMG, haven't you been tot he UK? The people are a lot less happy and the weather is a bit weird but you HAVE to come here.

  • thank you for this video. I have been fascinated by Ancient Egypt and Tut since I was a kid. I went to Chicago in 1978 to see the treasures. And for the first time saw the back of this beautiful piece of art. We couldn't take pictures. This video is a treasure in itself.

  • I wonder what Howard Carter was thinking when he first laid eyes on that......

  • I BEEN TO EGYPT AND THE PEOPLE ARE SO BEAUTIFUL AND KIND .THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME FACE LIKE THE OLD EGYPT NOTHING HAS CHANGE.

  • i bet he was a pimp!

  • See My Uploads for more on black ancient Egypt.

You will see things like the the mummy of Thutmose the 1st with coarse wooly hair in a 1930s published book by Sir W M Flinders Petrie (renowned Egyptologist of the day) . He's now bald. Or the coal black (always in art) grandmother of renowned Queen Hatshepsut.

  • He looks like Tiger Woods eating a cornetto LMAO

  • a proud history

    very good

  • I'm a young Egyptian Nubian they are my grandparents old

  • DNA leaked shows most likely European. Unfortuantely, the Egyptians don't want to let anyone know the racial profiles of the pharohs as they make too much money off of everyone going there thinking it's their ancestors.

  • @c1zx statements like your really make me laugh egypt is in africa unless im mistaken do u not think its more likely that the ancients egypt was inhabited by black africans and not white europeans?is it that hard for you to accept that the black man is the founding father of civilization.when people make the acient egyptians out to be anything other than black africans its make me smile and as far as te dna results u think some professor is gonna say king tut was black?think again bruv

  • @first10123 For someone from the UK you have terrible English, "bruv".

  • @unrealeck well as its just an intenet comment i dont really see the point in making it perfect ps ur from your comment i can tell u have never been to the uk have u got a passport?hop on the plane come visit

  • @first10123 "just" an internet comment. You are communicating to other people using English text.

I don't know how you go the impression I've never been to the UK from my comment.

  • @unrealeck im got that impression from your comment. you obvioulsy understood what i said in the comment cos you replied to it! so why even mention my grammer?

  • LOL am an egyptian and i've never seen this in person! maybe cuz i know its not going anywhere:D....well i betta go see it now its only 30 minutes away :D

  • all the time im so caring about cleo patra

  • When the rest of the world was picking the bones of dogs etc.. these people were busy building the pyramids ...

  • @kurtlupasta Actually, your statement about the rest of the world picking the bones of dogs while Egypt built pyramids has no basis in fact. There are ruins around the globe that go back before 12000 years, and consist of fantastic structures every bit as awe inspiring as Egypt. The pyramids themselves are on top of an older civilization, and so are the ruins in South America. Off the coast of India is a fantastic city in the ocean...it goes on forever.

  • @c1zx I might as well include mention of the fantastic Baalbek in Lebanon that is antidiluvian - pre 12000 years (not the part later built over by Romans) and Russia has also found ancient fantastic structures. In the near future I'm sure we'll learn more and more (in the mainstream) that man and his fantastic civilizations are more ancient than we ever dreamed and they encircle the entire glove.

  • He looks Afro-Asiatic!

  • @YoungJordanAI3 nuccah please quit tryna claim everything

  • Its eerie how the eyes seem to follow you......

  • ye tut is coming to Seattle in 2012,i plan on buying tickets and going to see him.

  • @69Belak i went today in denver its not worth it trust me!

  • Comment removed

  • The silence of this video is harmonious

  • What a beautiful african!

  • @Davemorristv thank you man ppl fail to realize that Tut was african

  • @19IndependenVision88 What are you talking about? His DNA is of European descent. How can he be African if his DNA is European? Are you saying that Africans are Europeans? Other pharohs were African, Tut just happens to have European DNA. Maybe he was mixed, but irregardless, his DNA shows European descent.

  • @c1zx His DNA results were never released.

  • i like tut ankh amon so much love love him

  • what a masterpiece, just beautiful, to think the ancients were able to create something so beautiful without any modern tools is just so amazing to me, the ancient egyptians were an amazing civilization, i'd love to see this along with the other amazing wonders in egypt

  • Merche 74...what? really? Are you kidding me? All that advertising, and no death mask? No Tut?!! WTF! I wanted to go!

  • @candyberriche me too :D

  • For the stupid people...

To learn is to live, to study is to grow, and growth is the measurement of life. The mind must be taught to think, the heart to feel, and the hands to labor. When these have been educated to their highest point, then is the time to offer them to the service of their fellowman, not before. Manly P. Hall

  • The exhibit is going to be in Toronto, Canada soon.

  • no death mask and no king tut...saw it yesterday. the exhibit has been here in Toronto since November and is leaving April 18th

  • @candyberriche

It's been in Toronto since like November. I am going to go c it tomorrow, so excited :D Check it out soon guys, he's leaving on like April 18th. Chance of a lifetime.

  • Whats really cool is how the crafter(s) of this mask achieved getting the stones to fit around the curves on the headress. But then again In general this mask is such a supreme masterpiece from Ancient Egypt. I could only imagine what other works that have been lost or that are yet to be discovered.

  • BEAUTIFUL. Stunning, gorgeous, absolutely AMAZING!!! OH MY GOD!!!

I wish I could see it in person, but unfortunately I'll just have to make due with my few posters! xD

  • @MitsukoHikaru You made the right description for this piece. It is "THE" most extraordinary artifact in Egyptology.I was in Cairo Musseum a few weeks ago, no cameras alowed....but seen it "live" is priceless.

  • @MitsukoHikaru thetomb faces i think were done by then artists

  • @MitsukoHikaru Yeah me too,It would be great to see the mummies!!

  • Wow amazing and a bit disappointing because I went to see the exhibit last week but the mask was abscent. I suppose its too fragile to bring it from egypt? even though everything else made it? But it would have been something truly superb to look upon it and be in its presence. And I wondered where his body was too and his coffins.

  • I went to the Cairo museum and I seen the mask last August.

It was REALLY outstanding, almost unbelievable.

  • Tut has the SERIOUS bling.

  • The real king tuts face is on google not the reconstructed image the one the ancient egyptian made! he looks like michael jackson in the billie jean video dont believe me look it up the early egyptians made a life like image of tut. Skin tone and all, view it so you can know what the pharoh looked like *) GOOGLE BUST OF KING TUT IT MAY CHANGE YOUR VIEW ON ANCIENT AND MODERN EGYPT AND LOOK UP QUEEN TIYE BUST ALSO

  • Was his face realy in the mask when they found his remains?

  • Wow look at the golden carvings at 2:33

  • I will go there some day :-) (I hope)

  • OMG i WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I seen the actual mask in the cairo museum and it was amazing. If you look inside the mask you will see inscriptions in ancient Egyptian. it was truly magnificent .

  • wow that sounds truly magical is it kept in this museum still

  • damn i want to see the real thing

  • Great camera. Looks like you were able to have a decent look without huge crowds gathering around. Thanks for posting.

  • Imagine what Ramses mask must of looked like. Tut is really nobody, and he had all of this. Imagine what the big dogs had before the tombs got robbed.

  • It's 11 kilos of pure gold!!

i've been there but it was banned to photo it

  • MAN, pure gold sculpture, if you could put a price to it, must be more than Bill Gates fortune.

    It's a beautiful mask

  • @OrcWyvern There is absolutely no value for this. Aside from the sheer amount of valuable material, think of the craftsmanship of this let alone an object from over 3000 years ago! It is stunning. Like previous comments, just imagine the treasures of the other great Pharaohs. King Tut had a short, unremarkable reign, and was even attempted to be erased from history for his connection to Akhenaten.

  • I've been there! :-D

  • رااااااااااااائع Beautiful

  • uh..asian he does not look like me than because i am asian.

  • he looks very asian. tibetan.

  • Do you know that king tuts mask was made of solid gold. And also his tomb was never been found by the robbers because its very hidden?

  • His tomb was robbed when first finished. Many of the oil & perfume jars had their seals broken & had been emptied. As it was finshed quickly, due to his early death the tomb was crammed with his belongings, the robbers couldn't get very far into the tomb which is a blessing. The death mask is THE most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

  • yes u right ^^

  • hahaha xD it was just a joke you know ^^ i don´t think he looks like bill kaulitz, cause tutankhamun is more beautiful (the mask)

  • Are you sure this is in the museum in Cairo. Which floor? because i went there, and i don't remember that I have seen tut's mask.

  • King tut section is half of the second floor. You cannot mess this portion, and the mask is not allowed to be moved by law outside Egypt.

  • How come the face of the death mask looks nothing the the recreation that NatGeo created. Does anyone smell a big fat ugly lie or is it just me

  • it's just you

  • @HueyShabazz THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I SAID, it looks nothing like it, the nose, the lips or any of that is not approximate to the actual face. And the skin color is a horrible choice, his skin color was most likely brown to a reddish brown! But King Tut was definitely MIXED.

  • he is not caucasion nor black he is EGYPTIAN like me

  • Look at his fucking lips bitch. Shut ur ignorant ass up ashiinsane90. Did u modern Egyptians always inhabit that part of Africa since the beginning of time. NO so shut ur Arab Coptic azz up bitch. I bet a million bucks that i look more like Tut than any modern Egyptian ever will.

  • u aint no damn real egyptian you a damn invader. thats why egypt looks a mess not because u sand niggers are there

  • what the hell is a sand nigger. please stop talking

  • u dirty arabs and iraq ppl

  • im african american

  • uncle tom

  • what

  • @rogerstarfish suck my cock, usa sucks just like its economy

  • @rogerstarfish what a remark from someone with a very low education level.. tsk tsk tsk.. feel ashame of yourself..

  • @ashiinsane90 And you know that 100%?

  • oO this is disrespectful towards tutankhamun

  • Not with those full lips!

  • was originally akhenatens mask, the face has been replaced the solid gold coffin was akhhs too

  • i swear it, the mask just winked at me!!

  • i really interesting to go to Egypt , at least once to see this things with my eyes.

  • tutankhamun's death mask was absolutely beautiful, the detailing is absolutely amazing, im so fascinated with how brillant the ancient egyptians were and i really hope to go to egypt someday and see all the wonderful things they created

  • did you know that it used to be even shinier? in the 60's or somethin they went to clean the dust but it had been so highly polished that even the finest dust cloth scratched the surface

  • His mask is so beautiful.....and the poor thing died so quickly.....

  • He looks like the rapper Nas.

  • I am still wondering how have they done this mask so good it actually looks perfectly, having in mind that they had lived 3000 b.c

It`s such amazing...All this things and situations...

The more I read about the Ancient Egyptians the more I get confused...

  • So does everybody else. We think of the people who lived in this time as inferior beings to us, yet we cannot replicate how perfectly they've managed to make things. It's led me to believe that they did in fact have help from extra terrestrials.

  • Gold is actually a very soft metal and can be sculpted fairly easy. One only needs skill and patience. Aliens are not required.

  • the funny thing about this mask is that there is too much detail on it. they even put the red bits in his eyes which we all have (but in the wrong corners !). still, stunning.

  • UNA OBRA DE ARTE.

  • this was the one Tutankhamuns tomb we took it from our englsih book

  • Isn't archeology needing more concrete answers? Look at the Tut Death Mask, have a party for it and call the Insurance company!

If your precious goatstone has any significance it is in the damn thing!

Would the 19 old kingboy praise your fortitude? Or would the fear of homo erectus demons prevent a scolarly crush of its misshapen skull? All you culture PC men and women sing of the permanence of BULLshit.

God Bless the Ferro and all its el and mag.

    Locihfer

  • All I Can Say Is Woah. So Intriguing, I Have Always Loved Egypt And Everything Along With It. I Plan On Going To Cairo And To The Museum I Might Cry When I See All The Artifacts Up Close After Studing Them For So Long.

  • anyone want to chat? i am bored and just got my new computer! it has a webcam!!! S

  • He looks like a typical Ethiopian or Somalian.

  • I am Doing a report on King Tutankhamun (king tut) i don't know who would name their child Tutankhamun

  • An 18th Dynasty Egyptian pharaoh would.

  • Actually his father named him "Tutankhaten". Tutankhamun was the name he chose after he became pharoah. :)

  • Fucking Amazing...

  • truly amazing

  • Tuts mask is astonishing! I've seen it. It's mind boggling what people could create in the ancient times with the type of technology they had!

  • that is so beautifull how they made the mask

  • hell yea im stealin that...lol

  • I think i'm in love...

    So beautiful! <3

  • belle présentation d'une des plus grandes civilisations antiques

  • Nice Mask.

  • here's a clue, they NEVER show the original because it's too dam priceless, this is in FACT just a replica. Originals are always kept in vaults; La Geconde (Mona Lisa) is also a replica. My Uncle works at the Louvre in Paris.

  • I've seen it too. it's amazing

  • ofc it is original i've seen it... it's all gold

  • is this orginal?

  • is this orginal?

  • Wish I could go to see this. One day perhaps? Some things just put you in awe, this is one. thousands of years old, but still such a thing of beauty and intrigue. Fabulous, Thanks for sharing

  • Bring on the proof smartass.

  • That guy was kidding. You haven't answered my last message yet. I'm looking forward to reading it.

  • I like your sense of humour!!

  • Im sick of people thinking that they can make any old claim that they want. You still have yet to bring proof that the Ancients were not full blooded Africans from day one.

  • Why would Diodorus & Herodutus write scholarly works on how the Ancient people were no different that their neighbors- the Ethiopians? The whole Egyptians are not this or that only came about when Carter went and raided tombs. That was also during a time of great oppression to many Black peoples from Africa, to Australia, to the Americas. Put 2 and 2 together and stop assuming. In 100 years, you people will be saying the Chinese were blonde and blue eyed I suggest you go read up on your history

  • stfu historian. Relevance? Nil

  • "Why would Diodorus & Herodutus write scholarly works on how the Ancient people were no different that their neighbors- the Ethiopians?"

They never wrote that. You're sadly misinformed. I have "The Histories" and the complete "Library of History". If you'd like to give me a chapter number with the passages in question, I can better explain to you what they actually said.

However, and I don't mean to sound rude, I don't think you've actually sat down and read these works.

  • have you got an xbox 360

  • Teachers always ask me whats your fave subject?I say history why? because it is things like this that just absolutley fascinate me!!!! I usually would be like whatsevers not when learning about Egytpians!!!!

  • his frame says he was a very rich pharaoh but he really isn't. He is known to be that way because his tomb was the only one they found intact so it looks like he is the richest. The truth is that when I went to queen nefertiti's tomb to research there it showed by the imprints and dents in the wall that she was more rich than a lot of pharaohs. The imprints had gold pieces showing hat her tomb was very poorly set up. as in her barial was probably more quick than tuts.

  • king tut is black

  • He could be, but isn't necessarily black. Scientists such as Terry Garcia (National Geographic's executive vice president) wrote in response to some protesters of NG's Tutankhamun reconstruction: "The big variable is skin tone. North Africans, we know today, had a range of skin tones, from light to dark (...) We will never know for sure what {Tutankhamun's] exact skin tone was or the colour of his eyes with 100% certainty. (...) Maybe in the future, people will come with a different conclusion".

  • it is just awful how so many people prevert the ancients to be non-black.

  • hey poooorroooop u dont even know how to spell pharaoh. and egyptians are very rare. there is no full ancient egyptian in the world. Yes u r egyptian if u were born there but not ancient egyptian. I'm only 20% egyptian and i am known as the egypt freak. He was the youngest and i should know because i am an egypt explorer.

  • oke i didnt spell pharaoh wright i give you that one but what do you think about chaseaa64's standpoint about king tut being the richest PHARAOH. i learnd that he was one of the least rich pharaoh's. what do you think?

  • is that in london by the way? ive been to london twice (i live in the north east you see) and the second time i went i went to the Tutankhamun and we wernt allowed to take no pictures at all and not use our phones annd stuff

  • cuse they wont allow it i wanted to go to it but i missed it

  • i wish i had one of those

  • can you realise that king tut was one of the least rich faraos. i mean his tomb and mask are made out of solid gold for us it would be a fortune. i just wonder how the rich faraos like ramses II and Geops were burried. that would be a huge amount of gold like we have never seen before.

  • i agree

  • king tut was one of the MOST richest and youngest pharos ever born u egypt hater!

  • omg! please i studied this in france last year and belive me i am no egypt hater. as a matter of fact i am 1/3 egyptian so keep your stupid comments to yourself okay. P.S. he wasnt one of the youngest faroas he was THE youngest farao.

  • I think they valued silver more so I would expect Ramses to have had tonnes of the stuff. King Tut's treasures are nothing compared to 'big' pharoes

  • COooooooooooool

  • Wasnt Tutankhamun the Pharao that Joseph from the Old Testament served for?

  • Nope

  • This magnificent mask has something very misterious in it. Whe i saw it at the Cairo museum, i had the feeling that it was alive.

  • I saw this and mummies etc on my trip. It was fantastic.

  • That is so amazing and so beautiful... I could only dream of seeing this in my life time...

  • well im egyptian i saw it like 3 times but ,,,, i duno i didn't feel any thing lol

  • Thats awesome!! I wish I could see it that much I live in Alaska so its kinda hard to go to historical places

  • u know maybe becoz im near 2 it so thats why im not interesting about it maybe if i was living far it would be different

  • Its amazing when you think about it this way, how far its come through history in such a great condition and how old it is. And the craftsmanship of it, I think its amazingly beautiful and a rare piece not to many people will see in their life time.

  • I saw twice and It's amazing and I never saw anything like it.

  • the collection is at the o2 arena (millenium dome) in london at the moment!

  • Unfortunately the exhibition at the Dome doesn't include the Death Mask. Apparently it's too fragile to leave Egypt.

  • the whole collection is in the o2 arena (millenium dome) in london at the mo!
