A book that stated "the earth is flat" might have had no changes to it but that does not make it accurate. I think if the religion gets you close to God then that is the most important thing. People can debate every item in the Bible and Book of Mormon, and even if there is a God. Van Hale is a great defender for the mormon church and Walter Martin is a world renowned authority on cults and wrote the book "Kingdom of the Cults". Judging by the quotes, he apparently not only has read from the standard works, but also from the early writings of church leaders. "The History of the Church," "Journal of Discourses" and "Mormon Doctrine" provide a lot of fodder for anti-Mormons. I remember reading these works with a dropped jaw out of sheer amazement of how much I didn't know (or wasn't told) about the church I grew up in.

Jesus raised people from the dead. I could go on and on. Joeseph Smith said he had done more for us than Jusus Christ The Lord. What did Joe do? He said he did more for the church than jesus christ. Actually no, Jews, Christians and Atheists alike. Many of the manuscripts proving the validity are infact the property of Jews. What a huge Christian conspiracy. Maybe you should do a simple search on the subject instead of spouting off. It's not all that difficult to find. The Dead Sea Scrolls, more than 24,000 manuscripts(which is more than any other document, including the Iliad). There are only two disputed verses and most bibles give the alternate wording.

It's an impossible statement to prove or disprove. It's what a debate scholar would call a dicto simpliciter. As a Mormon, I believe the Bible is very accurate. FYI, the video was boring. Ok, the 2nd most accurate book on earth is the Illiad. There are 643 copies of that in a timespan of 400 years, the NT has 5366 copies over a span of 50-225 years(for different parts). So I am perfectly safe to say that the Bible IS the most historically accurate book. You could disprove it if it were untrue, I deal in facts Junior not "truthiness".

Sorry but no. The lack of changes to the text of the Bible does not mean it is accurate. It means it did not change and nothing more. A book that stated "the earth is flat" might have had no changes to it but that does not make it accurate. Accuracy would be a function of making an objective claim (i.e. Jericho was located ...) and being able to verify that claim. And what's with 'Junior'? Why the need to be condescending?

You misunderstand. I believe the Bible to be generally reliable historically. But the evidence you sight does not prove accuracy. And if you can prove the Bible to be accurate in a particular statement, how could you ever prove it to be the most accurate above other texts? It proves the integrity of the Bible. Which, as a Mormon and a Christian I believe. Again, to prove accuracy you need an objective historical statement and another verified source for comarison.

The Bible cannon though is historically proven by untold sources. It is even scientifically accurate at times when, it was written, man did not accept such truths.

The "leviathan", as scholars suggest, was most likely used to generically describe a large aquatic animal. As found in Psalm 104, it was probably a whale. As in Job 41, more likely a crocodile. It is only our modern-day use of the word leviathan that corruption has occured. It may be likened to saying an overly large or ruthless snake, bear, or shark was 'a real monster!'. In truth, it is not a monster though, is it?

New revelations come as times change. You know at one time it was perfectly acceptable to sacrifice animals for God. Try that one during your Sunday worship and I think your church would be closed down.
Polygamy was acceptable with many Christians and different religions in the past. It was a way to increase the folds of different faiths. A new revelation came to a new prophet back in the 1800s stopping the practice in the Mormon faith.

I think if the religion gets you close to God then that is the most important thing. People can debate every item in the Bible and Book of Mormon, and even if there is a God. Only faith can give us the real answers. I believe there is a God, a prophet on this earth and that my family will be together eternally.

Is the bible true? Is the Book of Mormon true? If not, they are still great stories and teach us fantastic morals to live by in a populated society. But through faith we believe or don't. Every religion is full of unperfect people which make mistakes. I know the LDS religion is full of these people, I certainly am a sinner as all of us are. However, I have never felt so close to God being in this religion.
