Actually the depression streches all to El Alamein were it almost reached the sea and narrowed the desert. Thats why it was no way to bypass it there.
Is there a reason why the first part of each episode is missing? I really enjoy watching this series because it brings to life the rather dull written histories, but not being able to watch them in numerical order is maddening!
I'm from Tunisia , Rommel was a great leader and a smart general, my grandfather said that Germans were very strong because of Rommel plans, but they lost because there is no supplies for them while the allies try to capture north Africa , that was a big disaster in my country between 1942 - 1943

If I had the time to edit these videos I would. Some mistakes are eye opening. How about the R-35's 75mm machine gun.(Battlefield I The Battle of France) lol GREAT SERIES but man who edited these!
@HoustonGD They should have had you as chief editor.Though reading about how "Victory At Sea" was conceived and produced I can understand some of the difficulties involved. The producers of "Victory" were overwhelmed with the amount of material made available and how few qualified people were able to help them sort it out. Not being military men themselves, the producers tend to use the same film over and over because if was of good quality without considering whether it was appropriate or not.
And Qattara depression is far to the west close to the border with Libya.
