You wont regret getting a landy, ive got a 93 discovery myself. A few of my friends have 90s and discos. we all use them pretty much daily and go off roading as much as poss. good times ahead....guaranteed.
Good choice, I've got a land rover 90 csw, its a 1984 model, and its the best car ive ever owned. It was standard when I bought it but then I got the magazines and thats when I started modifying it. Their so easy to repair, mine doesnt have any complicated ecu's or sensors to go wrong like modern vehicles have. Its never let me down, when it does break it always gets me home, not like a modern car and the parts are cheap. Their the best 4x4 by far, Check mine out and let me know what you think
We have a Defender 130 TD5 with a fibreglass canopy on the ute. We do a lot of long distance touring thru the Australian outback. The Defender is expedition-capable from scratch but of course I've installed quite a few extras like dual batteries, fridge etc. It carries enough fuel, food and water, extra tyres, camping equipment plus spares, HF radio etc. to stay away from civilisation for a long time - and is frugal on fuel. What other car can do that?
My first driving a car is LR Series 2 when I was 12 yo and she was escorting me to get drive licence on 18 yo. Now, I am 49 yo and since I used another vehicle, I never have had a though car and make me really pride to be owned like LR then plan to build a LR Defender 90. Good choice dude.....LR is a legend.....
Hi dude i have a landrover Defender 90 she has a galvanised chassis and a stainless steel exaust she,s a 300tdi. I,ve had her since 99 and she is a bute. Had a problem with the head after 150 thousand but nothin else,,
defender , you can repair anything on it so easily and if anyone pissed you off in a road rage ........well .. lets just say you wont be the one in a pile on the side of the A1..
You have chosen wisely young jedi.. Although the mk 1 escort was nice the rs 2000 was better looking. You cant go wrong with a 90inch defender . I would love the panel side version in black ..
i have a ten year old defender td5 and i love it you do need to keep on top of them but if you do it will last a life time but it will turn into an obsession period GET ONE !!
hi there mate, im 14 and i have a series one (u can check it out on my youtube) there real good ( i think so anyway), just dont get a petrol like i did otherwise you will need a second job. :)
i would say a defender 90 trayback kit with a discovery v8 engine and full competion gear like winches and waffle boards and extreme offroad tyres thats what im going to get anyways
pre crown-victoria Lincoln Town Car. That engine bay and trunk are HUGE! you could put a motor in either end! trust me my mechanic shop put one in the back of a smaller car before. I assume you have no greater than highschool experience. but if you have professional autobody i would recomend cfp as soon as possible. that process is BUT FUCK SIMPLE
hahaha this made me laugh especially the bit abt ford ka idea and went straight off that.you came to your sences in the end tho landrover why have anything else?
All the classics you listed are good investments. If you ever have the opportunity and cash then an old Capri, Escort and Mini would make a nice little collection. Age doesn't really bring many problems apart from rot. I swear by old cars. Technology is taking us away from what driving is about. It's all about speed these days as opposed to the driving experience. Cars have lost their character somewhere down the line which is the reason I'm glad Land Rover have kept the look of the defender.
First, I wanted a Jepp CJ Later, a Chevrolet Trooper. But Finally, I made the best choice and I got a Land Rover Santana. I´m looking in a short time to get one as yours or a Discovery 2000. In a big percentage, Land Rover is the first car seen for people that ever didn't see a car. Bye, Excellent choice!!! Go for it, and join us.
hi there i am thinking of geting a defender 90 because they are practical and last for ever but does anyone know how much it would cost to get one insured if you are a first time driver?
I have to kill such a lot of ecologichal people....but perhaps also in milan, italy, may be I will buy a 110 ^_^....see U into the desert of marocco ^_^
mate you r the same as me first i wanted a mini then a mk1 escort then a mk1 golf then back to a mini now a defender and im at college doing a mechanics course good luck with it
What a weird video. Have you gone off the Defender yet??? Seems like you change your mind quite regularly.
Anyway I have owned a Mk 1 Escort and loved it. 20 years ago mind you. Still love em. I have owned the VW camper, that was also a great car. I now own Defender and its the first car that I feel love for. Sounds strange I know but I really, really love my Defender. Check out my vids and you will see why.
shame about the insurance mate but it happened to us all i had a mini for 5 years to build up my no claims.and i would never want to go back to one of them again.
if you want a cheap to insure nice car id go for an old shape bmw compact 1.6 they are beutiful i think in black.
ive now got a 4x4 i wnated a land rover but was warned off then due to there unreliabilty
ive just bought a daihatsu fourtrak theres a vid of it in my account it been great fun.
@AlphaBravoV Good Point & if it was LPG as you point out it wouldn't make it the best 4X4 X far :P instead of a series petrol I'd say a series diesel & which series 1 2 2a or 3? :D
@0thingthing0 Wow that's hardly anything :( must have all the extras then ours does about 20 25 i think & the new ones do more than that I'm sure 400bhp that's impressive though how long to 0 to 60? :)
i have three series 2 land rovers and an old austin mini van. no offence dude but what kind of arse would think a vw camper and a toyota yaris would make good cars??!!!! my dad had a vw camper, it was shit, my grandad had a toyota yaris and it was shit.
my big brother has a defender 90 but i think it has to be a hardtop one so the insurance company classes it as a van, my brother is 19 and it costs 900 a year, im getting one when im 16 :D
I bought an 1960 austin g2m10....same body style as the LR IIA. Cut up my Disco Im using tranny and transfercase.....dropping 300 TDI into it. 33" interco TSLs. I wont ever buy anything with a computer ever again bc of rover and lucas wiring...its horrible. stay away from landys with petrol and ECU. nightmares and constant headaches.
hay my first car ever was bmw 525 i i loved it a lt but i crusched it after that i bought a ford tourus my last car is the one i am going to stay with to the rest of my life i love love and one more time love my Jeep Wrangler !!!!!!dont want any other car even if i have the monay to buy it I f..g love my jeep i got my freedom !!!!!!!!!l
Good choice. My second car was a Land Rover Series 2. I loved it. At the mo I have a Mini Cooper S but now want a Defender 110 or Discovery 3. All my mates have Land Rovers, by far the best cars ever - even with their faults ;o). Hope to get my Land Rover in the next couple of years
For my second car after a Fiesta, I got a '81 Series 3 Diesel SWB with hard top for £450. £100 later she had an MOT. Insurance £850 for 1st yr with 1yr no claims and limited to 5000 miles. Land Rover odometers are easy to disconnect! Then for 2nd yr, £488 limited to 3000 miles. She is fantastic, I have moved to London from Devon for Uni and she regularly makes the 300 mile round trip journey on £70 of fuel. Now has full canvas £100 on ebay. 200tdi and chassis this summer if finances allow
