  • I just test drove one of these at CarMax and let me tell you: HOOLLLYYY SHIIITTT!! This car is FAST AS FUCK! I've never driven a car as fast as the lancer EVO!! Let me put it this way; after I test drove the lancer Evo, I test drove a BMW M3 and I was totally DISAPPOINTED with the M3! This 35k car EMBARRASSED the 60k m3 in EVERY WAY! Do yourself a favor and buy the Lancer EVO! Fuck BMW!!!

Yes I will admit BMW has some bad ass performance but I would never feel comfortable driving a BMW because there so damn expensive to 1 - insure, and 2 - maintain. I'm just an EVO guy, and no offence, but theres nothing you can say to me that will make me want a BMW, even if it outperforms the evo at the same price. Id rather own this or a 2011 mustang gt.

  • @bigmanbigkid i agree with everything except the insure part... Evos and STI's (especially) are more expensive these days. My boy is in his early 20's and has an E46 M3 and was looking for an evo, got an insurance quote and both the Evo and STI were tons more a year than the M3! damn :/

  • @carlos1jr Aftermarket exhaust systems have larger diameter pipes and are made of polished steel as opposed coarser or unpolished metals. The idea is to reduce the amount of resistance for the exhaust which allows the engine to literally breathe better. If you think about it, car designers are trying to make stock exhausts that mute the sound of thousands of tiny explosions. Aftermarkets do the opposite and that gives them their trademark loudness.

  • @NickConte66 The main thing that helps an aftermarket exhaust more than even the polished pipes is having a freer flowing muffler, although for a naturally aspirated car with a small engine (for example a honda) you dont want the exhaust all the way free flowing because then you lose low end torque and the horsepower is useless without torque. With a turbo you dont have to worry about it though because the turbo generates enough backpressure to keep low end torque.

  • Put 5 more grand on turbo upgrade on Evo, it will match the GTR in 1/4mile.

To me the ricer is all about stereo speakers, fart cannons, some weird body panels that have no aerodynamic benefits whatsoever, and some outrageous paint work. This however, doesn't exactly fit the bill in my opinion.

  • Ok this is vid is 2008 and we are approaching 2011 real soon. Now im a mustang guy, but I love Every car. Problem is there are two things that might happen. Evo is either going to go diesel, knocking it out of almost every major racing event or they are discontinuing it. Though I'm not a friend of diesel(especially USA) I'd take it over a dead brand.. Anyone know any more details on this? I mean i saw it coming, but not so soon.

  • @neh4pres Look Evo and STI get the worse MPG period. Starting 2012 Mpg is going to raise 5% of the current EPA. It's diesel or a much bigger displacement.

  • @Texarmageddon 5% mpg increase for new models by 2012 certainly provides the initiative to research and develop the technologies necessary, but don't worry, the strictest mpg regulations are for pure economy cars. The sport oriented models will get a more subtle mpg that gets that little bit higher. Say 1.5% increase in mileage.

  • @viperxraptor2001 Yeah, but look at the MPG of the evo and sti.. they are garbage. Consumes more fuel than a V8 and are priced way over a V8. Even subtle MPG increases are going to hurt the consumers wallet. The issue isn't not being able to increase gas or power people. The issue is doing this while staying in the consumers budget. i hear mustang is going on a massive diet and going foxbody size. Our cars (imports and domestics) are going to change dramatically in ways we may not like.

  • What's all the exhaust fuss about? A good exhaust system on a turbocharged car can easily gain 25 hp. Turbo magazine verified a 35 whp gain from a 3" 5Zigen turbo-back exhaust on a stock Evo IX! As far as the "dual mufflers" go, it's a cosmetic thing, and doesn't really help or hurt the overall exhaust flow on a car like this. Also, I think it sounds pretty good in this video. :D

  • well... does anybody have any thoughts on these vishnu performance thing? is it safe? is the company reliable, because I know that you have to send them your ecu to them first and pay them as well while you wait and wonder wether they are going to send it back to you or not.   • In Australia, rather than putting a black box with screws etc on top of the ECU which would tell a dealer mechanic that you had been goofing with the car's electronics, we have tuners who have software to remap the factory ECU, providing similar gains to Vishnu and looks stock. A one day $1000 ECU remap gives about SAE 75 Hp. Exhaust benefits vary with size of cat, mufflers, pipe diameter and whether you go cat back or turbo back. There must be guys in the US who do this too. Hope this helps.

    Having dual mufflers doesn't increase hp any aftermarket catback is typically a 3'' and they only produce between 9-16hp gains. Talk about company sponsored crap!

  • No kidding dude, +25hp from EXHAUST? Either the stock Evo exhaust is bullshit (which its not), or they're lying (which they are)

    Plus, it doesn't matter if it has two, four, six, eight, or even ten mufflers - the point is it's not a true-dual exhaust system, there is one pipe carrying all of the exhaust that splits up into two at the very end. This is purely cosmetic, as it does not increase the airflow from the engine, also, it may even hinder performance due to kinks congesting airflow.

  • The time required to bring the turbo up to a speed where it can function effectively is called turbo lag. This is noticed as a hesitation in throttle response when coming off idle. This is symptomatic of the time taken for the exhaust system driving the turbine to come to high pressure and for the turbine rotor to overcome its rotational inertia and reach the speed necessary to supply boost pressure

  • adding to what yayoar said, the bigger the turbo, the larger amount of time it takes to spool. tiny turbos can spool by 2800, but dont make tons of power and choke up top. big ass turbos, like the ones you see on supras, take forever to spool but make ungodly power

  • well, to put it very simply, its actually visible when you floor the gas, the rpm stick goes up slowly and then suddenly you will see a very fast jump and zoom~ :D
