I have it, I have to work with the crap! Thought I had pinched nerve or something, going to the chiropractor made it worse! Took a few days off, it really sucks, and trying to sleep is hard when you are achy. Doc gave me a steriod shot and pills called sulindac...which is like extra strength ibuprofen, they really don't help much, they only thing that gives me some relief is heating pads and rubbing tiger balm all around my rib cage, back and front. I smell sooo good, like old people, lol
i just went to the e.r today too and also have pleurisy..its affecting my eating and sleeping and daily life now.. mines reoccuring tho so they want me to come back in 48 hrs ..i know EXACTLY what the stabbing pain in the lung feels like..its so terrifying..its like dying ..im so scared. i hope you and everyone else in the comments are doing better :(
I went to the hospital yesterday, pretty sure this is what I have, They were too dumb to figure out what it was. Sent me home even though I had an abnormal chest xray. My doctor saw something and wants me to get a CT of my chest. If you live in Chicago and need to go to the ER, don't expect much.
Dang im going through this right now and i agree it SUCKS! Fells like im being stabbed when i breath , cough, move wrong. I finally went to the doc when i couldent take it any more and he said i had a classic case of plurisy. He gave me cough meds with codine and vicoden for the pain but so far its been 10 days and still kills...did i mention this SUCKS?
Yep had it a few times this year, it is VERY painful, but for some reason with me, before it starts my right hand swells up, I'm not kidding anyone, I have to have my arm in a sling for a few days, I have to stay in when it is cold or raining, my friends have to go to the shops for me if it is cold outside, the medication I had was awful, I have just recovered again from it and still get the pain, I wish it would go away.
im going on 1 week couply days now ive been takeing aleve cause it has a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug it helps with the pain i hope you all feel better this shit sucks
I just found out that i have that as well they did a chest xray and came back an hour later...i started getting sick 7months ago and other dr's road it off as asthma and sinus infection...but went to the ER i have all those same symptoms.. Hope u feel better soon <3
pleurisy will disperse after around four days or so, although the pains severe, the unbearable stage of my pain went away after that, just don't shit yourself and you should be finny.

If you tough it out, it drains into waste (urine) and goes away. I can not afford to go to a hospital every time I get it. Imagine living with this pain for five days at a time. advil won't do crap for pluerisy! you need to be on a good anti inflamatory med and better pain killer...I tried advil and it helped about as much as eatting fudge,lol

Every so often I still get flairups of this condition. I was put on ibruprophen to take care of the inflamation and an antibiotic for the bronchitis that went along with it. So yes, I really do feel bad for you, I've been there.

I've had pleurisy for years, and i get it every few months especially with chest colds. One thing that helps is avoiding breathing in cold air. Cover your mouth with something when its really frigid outside. Wait until it affects your abdomnen and back area.. now thats fun.

After about 1 year of prescribing him ANTI DEPRESSANTS, to combat his "panick attacks", he was rushed in to hospital today, and NOW they say Pleuracy.
the first year i got it it scared the hell out of me because it felt like i had a broken rib when i breathed in because your lungs are inflamed but it was just my lungs expanding and bumping into my ribs when i breath and yeah its confusing but the day after i was diagnosed with it i read that people used to die from it

I have had broken ribs torn chest ligaments but I am just getting over Pleurisy and that was the worst pain seek medical advise quick if in doubt
