I am a "f#cking gringo who has lived here in CR for almost 8 years. 2 weeks ago my 2 month schnauser puppy dissappeared from my fenced yard. Next day the thief showed up at my gate telling me that he would return it for a price. Said he didn't take it but knew who did. When I reluctantly offered $40, he said it wasn't enough, that I needed to pay the actual thief too. I said no and never saw my puppy again. I can go on and on, especially about the absolutely ridiculously high import taxes

I disagree. When it comes to tourism especially. A lot of U.S. citizens will be able to take 10 trips to other countries in their life even paying "gringo pricing", and those people in those countries will never have the opportunity to take one trip outside of their country.

The guy above kinda had the same question as me but ima ask anyways I have dual citizenship from the US and el salvador and speak perfect spanish with salvadorean accent, therefore if I were to buy a property with my salvadorean papers without ever showing that I am a US citizen would that help? btw your tips are truly amazing thanks for posting all the vids im slowly watching them :) and laughed at the gringo pricing definition haha
@2020starman If a person has to leave the country every 3 months, it means they are not a legal resident of Costa Rica. They are a tourist. And tourists can only stay in CR for 3 months before they have to renew their visas (by leaving the country, usually for 72 hours)

You should always ask for and expect a "cash price" that is about 10% less than the price listed for a product. This is because the credit card companies charge very high per-transaction fees to the merchants. So they save about 10% everytime you pay in cash vs using a card. Therefore, most of them should be willing to pass that savings on tot he customer. If a merchant won't give you a cash discount., take your business elsewhere.
I wanna say thank you for posting all your videos because even though I understand the Tico's reasoning...I think they should try to find another way to do it and not just rip us off. Get creative, don't take the easy way out! :) Thanks again!
