There shouldn't be a problem with you sharing a beer with him, realistically. You're his father. As you said, the law has never stopped anyone under the legal age getting alcohol. It certainly never stopped me. Just make sure you promote a healthy drinking culture in your son and everything is fine, a realistic and healthy one is all you can ask. And being present as a peer to your child can help you promote the correct values.

i think beer/alcohol and cigarettes should be illegal. alcohol has really bad effects and can cause addiction if not consumed properly. cigarettes are just bad period.

I'm 20 and I've only drank with my dad a couple of times (and my grandparents once lol). The only person who has a problem with me drinking is my mom, so I never do it around the house. Me and my father aren't really close, but I feel like I've sort of bonded with him while we were drinking. I would say yes.

There shouldn't be a problem with you sharing a beer with him, realistically. You're his father. As you said, the law has never stopped anyone under the legal age getting alcohol. It certainly never stopped me. Just make sure you promote a healthy drinking culture in your son and everything is fine, a realistic and healthy one is all you can ask. And being present as a peer to your child can help you promote the correct values.

bring him to your house and split a six pack. i always wished i could have had a few with a my dad. i'm only 24 but a seasoned drinker; well aware of U.S. drinking laws. if he's in your house with your consent, it's perfectly legal, and it sounds like you trust him so... why not do it, and do it legally? beer is the shit!

The "drinking age" in the US is ludicrous. At age 18 he can legally be drafted by the military and forced to kill or be killed in combat...yet the government doesn't trust him with alcohol.

However, when you do join the military (wether drafted or volentarily), you can drink alcohol. My brother joined at 16 and he was buying beers as soon as he got out of boot camp. (Sorry for the spelling, I'm a bit tired)
