  • Great song, better story, WOW! thank you for introducing me to Chuck Brodsky, what a talent.

  • My favorite ballplayer too. Thanks,

  • I love this song

  • Love this one. I was there for the Great Phillies Collapse of 1964. In the last 12 games (of which they lost 10) Richie/Dick hit over .400 with 11 RBIs.

  • Chuck, I am privileged to call you a friend. I agree with the previous poster about your performance at Edmonton. You sing songs that make me laugh, make me cry but most importantly, make me think. More power to you.

  • I just saw him yesterday at the Edmonton Folk Festival and he was sensational. His lyrics and guitar playing are amazing and he has such a unique and classic voice

  • I am planning on seeing CB on July 26 at Bele Chere in Asheville NC. This man is a national treasure -to me anyway!

  • I'd never heard of Chuck, but I went on a lark to see him last February. I dragged along a friend who was visiting, and we were absolutely blown away.

I've since purchased all of Chuck's albums. A massive music fan, I cannot say enough good things about him. I am a fan, and I will be for a very long time,. My only hope now is to introduce my son and wife, along with anyone else who I can, to his music. The man is a genius and a true artist.

  • I had a very similar experience last summer. Saw him for the first time in Greensboro...and proceeded to buy everything I could find. He's wonderful!!

    Chuck M

  • superbly done & very yogic

  • Chuck is a truly outstanding writer and storyteller...very much under the radar unfortunately. I have everything he's ever done and I've seen him several times. My favorite Brodsky stories are "Bill & Annie", "How Beautiful She Looks", "Moe Berg", "Claire & Johnny", "BAllad Of Eddie KLeepp" and, of course "Radio", his signature song. His song should haven received more exposure in the movie.

  • wow...what a beautiful story and song

  • I remember him coming to a little coffee house in Mt. Holly NC about 10 or 13 years ago. I was in my early twenty's and when I heard his songs, I was amazed. Still am to this day I will pull out the old cd I have of his an play it and be amazed at the power of the songs still and how they stand up SO well. their is good artist then they are artist that are amazing then there are artist that is so much a part of the art you can't pull them apart. Chuck is one of those

  • Chuck is an amazing guy and an unbelievable performer. He did a music fest on vancouver island years ago and ended up having dinner at my parents. I was a youngster at the time, but he still stays in contact with our family. Amazing guy who deserves more accolades for his songwriting and performing.

Love to see you back at Music fest soon chuck.

  • Chuck first started coming to Ireland in 1999 with Jim Page. I was 12 years old at the time. My dad was heavily involved in music promotion, sales and radio at the time. Chuck became friends with my dad, and ended up staying at our house for a few days. He has become a good friend and left a little stamp in all our hearts. His music will always be a big part of my life.

  • wow, this is excellent. Was lookin for his Dock Ellis tune but found this. Great storytelling. I'm more familiar with Dick Allen as a White Sox and his one year playing on my childhood team, the Oakland A's. Allen was a tough ballplayer who did things the way he wanted. I remember an A's game in 1978, where in the bottom of the ninth and the A's down by 2 runs, Allen and Manny Sanguillan hit back to back homers to tie the game. Two great players at the end of their careers gettin it done.

  • Chuck is an icon of everything that is pure, raw, and good in music, and in this world. Who'd a known that 10 years ago at the White Raven in Felton, California, he would affect me so profoundly. Thanks for posting this.

  • I know nothing about baseball. and this song made me cry.

  • ive been listening to chuck ever since is was 4. Thanks to my dad ive been introduced to folk singers like him and this kind of music is truly amazing. Im 16 haha

  • 51 years old... worked in radio for two decades... saw and heard hundreds of performers.... Chuck is in my top five.

Thanks for posting this, hope many others are moved by him as much as I am.

  • I so agree. I'm curious to know whom made the rest of your top 5.

  • man this is just a great story and song. it brought a tear to my eye. i think it's the sentiment and the lyric "me you, we never booed richie allen, and I never understood why people did." I think that line is a representation of how so many people feel and felt, and I just think it's an important message.

    beautiful song

  • I couldn't make the house concert at Roger and Donna's place...a great loss for me and a lost chance to turn my girlfriend on to Chuck's great music.

  • saw chuck 10 years ago in Boston. He was great then and great now. One of my favourite songwriters.

  • Loved it as always.

We missed you at the river this past weekend Chuck!

  • I don't even know a thing about baseball, but I've always loved this song. Now I know why.

  • my fiend Chuck - it's about 27 years since we played together - you done what you said you gonna do - good on you my broe

  • If you want to hear a "perfect" song, listen to Chuck's "Our Gods" song. I've never heard a song say what I feel until I heard this one.

  • Chuck is the business! I have seen Chuck play many concerts over the last few years and those gigs have been fantastic. Chuck is one of the most genuine people I have had the pleasure of knowing and I am proud to call him a friend. He has many songs and quite a few albums, all well worth listening to. Do yourself a favour, if Chuck is playing near you, go and see him, you won't regret it. Wishing you all the best,Chuck. Kind wishes from your all your friends in Lismore! sp
