  • she should release more live albums. this is amazing!

  • Wie hier niet van smelt heeft geen hart.

  • AMAZING!!!

  • Beautiful verison of this song! anyone know what its about?

  • @butterflymel6 the song is about a religious mother who read the secret diary of her daughter and discovered she wasn't a virgin anymore. shen then drowned her daughter in the river. Based upon a true story.

  • @ZeDollyDots Number one reason to not read secret diaries

    Number two is, its boring

  • I have loved Polly since I heard her first album when I was in high school. It is the mark of a truly transcendent artist when they can rework a song and breathe new life into it. This is so beautiful.

  • just great

  • Intense, talented and moving.. that's her.

  • lovely version of this song

  • she and nick cave would have make the most beautiful couple.. they look alike .. they sing like gods!

  • PJ meets the Carter Family!!

  • this is so much better than the 1995 video for it.

  • I think Im in love.

  • Love this rendition of the song. This was the last song she played, it was just brilliant.

  • -Sorry, it was not the last song. It was actually Desperate Kindgom of Love, my mistake!

  • ...niesamowicie przejmująca muza...

  • what i've noticed is that with this new style that she has going...looks and music alike...she seems to have become much more focussed ( i cant spell lol) on how she is sounding...almost like she has improved her vocal..not that she ever needed to...great stuff!

    xx

  • great live performance, hats off to PJ

  • Beautiful.

  • Great twist on the song. Pj always makes it work with her music, style. Amazing lady :)

  • amazing!

does anyone know what that instrument is called?

  • It's called an autoharp.

  • cheers! ive been wondering that for weeks!

  • obviously a typo LOL

  • HE!?

  • Amazing women..

    And it's my favourite song..

But..I love her old look better..

    But he's still a goddess...

  • Whenever she goes "down under" and returns to the public she has a new style, almost like a totally new PJ. I love it. For me it always works.

  • Don't know why but she reminds me of Tori Amos in this 'little fish, big fish' bit, which is fair enough cause they're both great :P

  • she sounds amazing!!

  • What a night this was, AND I got to meet her before the show!

  • How was she when you met her?

  • She was nice enough, but wouldn't have her picture taken with me. Fair enough I suppose. She did say not to take it personally as she never has her photo taken with fans, but it took me half an hour to get over it, lol! I didn't have anything to sign other than myself, so I didn't try that one!

  • i would almost give my life for that!

  • ijslanderke...I wasn't implying that Polly's cute, demur smile was all I liked about her. I'm shallow, but not that shallow !! ;-) I am ever-fascinated by her performances, and when she smiles at the end, it always melts my heart. BTW, thanks for the clips you've posted from Chicago Metro. They are great!!

  • seviyorum a.q

  • bu kadına aşıım

  • she's (as I already said in another vid) just a role model for us women (except for her past extreme thinness :p) because she is a true artist, she's a real rock n roller, a real musician, she evolues but stays great,... even her lyrics and her duets are great, without talking of her covers (ballad of the soldier's wife <3)

  • its funny to mee and incredibly interesting how she went from minx (Stories...) to a hipster (uh huh her) to an amish bride

  • I really love this new take. Pleeease come to Melbourne soon, Polly!

  • How I love her. Not only the smile at the end :-p

Also the way she makes evolution into her music and performances! Great great woman!

  • I was right at the front and i swear it was a spiritual experience.

Noone on the planet can make you feel the way polly does.

    She is PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh, that smile at the end !! *sigh, melt, etc...*

  • What's the instrument she's playing?

  • I think its called an Autoharp.

  • yes it is =]

  • Just beautiful.

  • seca

  • This is amazing.

  • I wasn't very excited about the new album until I heard this version of Down By The Water. It's so beautiful...

  • WELL WHAT TO SAY OTHER THEN PJ Harvey is are such an inspiration, this is an outstanding version of Down by the water. I love it.... Deep and sincere, it moves me. thanks for posting this.

  • I love the way shes altered her vocals for this,God shes so talented, this brings the night back to me-thanx 4 posting.

  • Looking at other posts from this performance, I enjoy the bits with her on piano and autoharp more than the guitar. So gentle and haunting! Thanks to the person who posted this!

  • FINALLY.

I've felt that she had been going through the motions with this song for the last 2-3 tours, and it had grown stale, but HERE.. it sounds fresh and interesting again. I love her more gentle coloration in vocal tone throughout too. Again, I say...

    FINALLY!

  • Omg i was there and thats mii fav song =D one of the best concerts i have ever been tooo !!!

  • WOW!!!

  • This concert remind me The BBC Session from Joni Mitchell, she's always playing alone with different instruments

  • i've loved this woman for years, and here she proves yet again that she just gets better and better and better. have never been more excited for a new pj album because with this one she's going to hit more than a 180 degree turn.

  • i am speechless...

  • More than amazing!:)

  • Amazing ^^

  • omg... she's gorgeous...
