The DC10 kind of sucks. It's loud and has a rough ride, although Airbuses are the worst. I prefer Boeing.

@TheArfdog What are you talking about? These engines are the same as in the GE powered 747-200 or the A-300B, so their level of noise is the normal for thier generation. As for the rough ride, is totally the contrary, the big wings and the rear center of gravity make for one of the smoothest wide body rides. When an airplane type sucks, it isn't in revenue service with more than 40 years of use ond over 100K flight hours. The DC-10's durability is true Douglas...

I have been a passenger in all three types that use that engine and the 10 is as quiet as the 747-200 or the A300, the only difference being a faint buzz at the very rear coming from the tail engine. From the ground (I worked for years close to the former 9R at MIA), the 10 is exactly as the others of the same generation; the annoying whine at idle or taxiing settings being again the same for all three types. You may have only one point..

@sobelou I'm not talking about mere taxiing noise, friend. Also, I mean interior noise. Obviously exterior noise will be the same. And what about the rough ride?... it's due to the wing and fuselage construction which is superior in Boeings. The DC10 is ok, the Airbus (particularly the A320) is complete ass.

@TheArfdog In my experience, interior noise is about the same as in other widebodies, except for the 747,which is really an "old lady's Cadillac"; single aisle planes are in fact noisier inside.The DC10 cockpit is quieter than most widebodies because it is extremely symmetric, and I'm surprised at your comment on the ride, since the big wing so far back in the fuselage because of the rear displaced COG provides for a really cushioned ride. Lots of wing flapping though

its actually a good thing they stopped productions of these because not only was American Flight 191 the single worst Airliner crash in US History but these planes suffer plenty of maintainence issues and they also have had plenty of bad incidents.

A real SHAME that modern airliners arent designed like the DC 10/MD 11 or Tristar anymore with the 3rd engine mounted on the tailfin.......is anyone else bored with the same airbus designs coming out??? A318/A319/A320 & A321 all look similar asides from the dimensions!!!! I mean,come on,even the B777 was a stretched B767 variation! I appreciate these planes were non economical & noisy but surely a more up-to-date option can be found to design an original looking airliner for the 21st century !

Airbus sticks to one design in a way. They are still amazing in the sky, with their wing flex but it isn't the same.

Nice vid. I like CLS DC-10 but for some reason my airspeed wents sometimes when climbing or descending to 0 in midair even when i have pitot heat on, so i havent used it so much anymore. With more complex addons like QW 757, LDS 767 and Wilco Airbus series i have no problem.
