  • These are great. Recommend them everyone. I constructed and use one after having a finger badly chewed up by a prop(23 stitches in the top joint of my middle finger) They work really well. Everyone thinks they are a great idea, but even though I cut out the parts for another two starters and gave them to RC friends I have never seen another one used, although when flying together one friend is really keen to use my starter! Guess people unfortunately need a 23 stitch wake call too.

  • Great! I think you are the first person to actually build one. I built three for club members.

They are simple and light weight.

  • just remember it isn't the size of the prop its how fast it comes back around and bits you! the small rc props only idle at 2k (i think a lot of full scale's FULL power is around 3k) (not 2k is a low number most prefer 2.5 or around that when cold and certainly more so for the smaller engines)

  • One problem I see, guys start out with 9 or 10 inch prop, they develope muscle memory when removing the hand holding the plane. As they progress to larger props you have to use a larger arc when removing your hand from the plane. In an emergency, muscle memory takes hold and you pull your fingers right through the larger prop.

  • Very true , but with somethings like the smarter starter you hands/fingers arnt anywhere near the prop... only problem is my planes dont have glow drivers (get somethings like the hanger 9 remote glow probably one of the best designed)

i have to admit itsa great idea

  • Do you even fly RC planes? They typically don't suck you in, they simply get you if you've gotten complacent and you're not paying attention. No, it's not for everyone, but it's good for some. Everything is relative.

On that note, learn to use propar spelling and grammar if you're gonna flame someone. If you don't have something nice to say and say it anyways... suck it.

  • Er... proper.

  • all that crap?!?

Why don't you use that rubber cup mounted on the end of a battery drill/cordless screwdriver? Its a lot more portable that your contraption.

  • Crap? It's obvious you don't understand the goal here. It's hands free and keeps the user behind the prop.

  • Brilliant stuff man. Way to give back.
