  • Such a classic '80s dance video . . . I hadn't seen this in ages, and didn't know until today that the "pencil snapper" boy was Elijah Wood. How fun! No one's mentioned it here thus far, but his role in this video is a parody of the video for Don Henley's hit single "The Boys of Summer." Check it out if you're not familiar with it . . . that, and of course Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love" video, which the little girls in this clip are imitating.

  • Damn!! I was 15 yo when this came out.

  • Elijah is so cute all 8 years old of him lol

  • Thumbs up if you came here to see Frodo but hate Paula Abdul.

  • yes, that was indeed Elijah Wood.

  • 1:45 Frodo, NOOoooOOOoOoOoOooooo!

  • 1:55 Frodo Baggins..?

  • Such an artist, and so very pretty too!!! I forgot how much fun it was to watch her videos, as were most of the 80's... Best decade for music because of artists like her!

    -M

  • That little boy, is Elijah Wood.

  • Oh my Goodness graciehunter11 get with the program.

  • Wow can she dance and sing love her lots,

  • Ah! Who can ever forget those halcyon days when the image became more important than the music and the definition of "musician" changed from "one who performs music" to "one who performs TO music"; the day the music died. RIP music. We will never forget you.

  • 10 YEAR OLD NIKKI COX AND 8 YEAR OLD ELIJAH WOOD WERE IN THIS VIDEO

  • @ascensiondream28 Nikki Cox was only in Straight Up video!

  • Its the 8 year old Elijah Wood in 3:37.

  • @wfaldas yes

  • if this video was released today, i wonder if paula abdul would get grief about having those little girls portraying robert palmer-esque sex symbols--life was simpler back then, before Toddlers and Tiaras

  • @msjx333 why is life always "simpler" 20 years ago. I remember in the 80's and 90's making the same comment in speaking of the 60s and 70s. When you have people, you will always have controversy. It makes life more interesting. :) We just didn't have the internet to chat it up so much.

  • that black dude in the striped shirt danced for Janet jackson as well

  • I love that Elija Wood is in this video, he is the kid who breaks the pencils....Love you forever Paula!

  • Is that Drew Barrymore at 3:07?

  • @kasuyo69 no

  • Brightman and Abdul don't even sing the same kind of music. That's not even a good contest. They are both good singers, but don't put them up against each other 2 different types of singing.

  • OMG! That's Elija Wood!

  • @DaBagelSquad yup lol

  • @DaBagelSquad It was his 1st acting job.

  • #1 song 5/14/89 my bday

  • May 31st 1989!! :D

  • #1 song when i was born hehe

  • This is for my love...I really do belong to you, always!!

  • 3:35 Elijah Wood :3 (L)

  • in ART, sometimes less is more...

  • WELL, ABDUL WAS AND STILL IS A BABE, BUT AS FAR AS HER SINGING IS CONCERNED, LET US NOT LIVE IN DELUSIONS NOW....PUT HER NEXT TO A SARAH BRIGHTMAN IN TERMS OF SINGING ABILITY, RANGE, INTONATION AND PRESENCE, AND PAULA WOULD BE UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY, "OUT OF HER LEAGUE" BEING EVEN IN THE SAME ROOM A S. BRIGHTMAN....LISTEN/ATCH SARAH BRIGHTMAN ON YT: FLEUR DU MAL GOTHICA IN HD AND YOU WILL SEE WAN I MEAN.

ABDUL, IS, EXCUSE THE TERM, EXTREMELY CUTE, SEXY AND A WONDEFUL DANCER, BUT THAT DOES

  • @silicon605 NOT PUT HER IN THE BIG LEAGUES LIKE BRIGHTMAN.S....BRIGHTMAN IS MANY LEVELS ABOVE PEOPLE OF ABDULS TALENT...PAULA IS VERY DESIRABLE, BUT SARAH HAS A CORNER ON ULTIMATE WOMAN LOOKING WITH IMMENSE SINGING RANGE.

  • I will forever love Paula Abdul and this song.

  • I will never forget this song. I was a freshman in college and I caught my girlfriend cheating on me. This was the girl I thought I was going to marry. My friend tried to console me by telling me that our love was never real unlike the love he had with his girlfriend who used to sing this song to him all the time. Then she cheated on him.

  • RIP Nicole Rein

  • Same May 31

  • This song was #1 when I was born. :)

  • @DarkDestiny666 me 2!

  • Was this audio-candy really a number one hit in 1989?

  • Table On A Bench

  • Look at Paula's hair and clothes at the beginning of the video. Am I the only one who thinks that style looks amazing on women in their 20's and 30's? Keep your skin tight jeans and short dresses; I'll take late '80s apparel on women, anyday.

P.S.- Anyone have a time machine? I will only need it for a one way trip. 2012 can kiss my butt.

  • ...with Elijah Wood, aged eight.

  • omg the 80s look like fun because of paula abdul1 :}

  • Trevor wright is one of those kid...where are you..where are you..they moved too fast..can't recognize them at once glance..LOL

  • 1:13 mini back up guitarists for Robert Palmer

  • 1.55 Frodo

  • So many fond memories associated with this video :) they don't make music like this anymore

  • even a 90s kid like me can appreciate good 80s music

  • Does anyone else recognize Elijah Wood in this video? He is about my age...30 or so...I have been in love him ever since I first saw him in Radio Flyer...this was obviously recorded a couple of years before that film, but how can you miss those bright beautiful eyes?

  • oh my!!!! this song and video bring back soooooo many memories!!

  • Oh my God, this is a total classic. Please, J.Cole, please ruin this Paula Abdul song too! I beg you!

  • @spomposello go and check what's the meaning of Claasic..:)

  • @transquilify Considering the success of this song and the fact that it's easily more tolerable than today's garbage, I would say that it's a CLASSIC example of good meaningful music.

  • @spomposello This is meaningful? I guess you find meaning in it just like others now a days.

  • Michael Jackson's Assistants Choreographer

  • @ecatt333 Elijah Wood is one of the "actors" in this video..

  • This is one of those top hits of the late 1980s particularly 1989, or perhaps the last frontier of the r&b dance genre. By the 1990s more techno hits came to place. I missed the late 80s...

  • Miss the 80's. Good Times.

  • this video should have so much more views, Paula Abdul is so much better than some of the crap they play these days. -.-'

  • holy mother of god

    frodo

  • I think they should reunite all of the actors/dancers and re-do this video. It would either be super awesome or super creepy.

  • @ecatt333 elijah wood and paula abdul did reunite look up paula abdul and elijah wood (E!)

  • @ecatt333 Probably a little bit of both! HAHA!

  • can you see the dislike bar? no? didn't think so. suck on that bitches. haters gon' hate but Paula Abdul will always be gorgeous, perfect, amazing, beautiful and so much more. <3

  • oh my god what is up the views on this video , wtf???

  • Homsar: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I'm forever your girl

Don't know if anyone's made that joke yet

  • This is my Favorite Paula Song♥

  • HOBBIT POWER lol

  • There is also Trevor Wright.

  • Elijah Wood was so young!

  • Elijah Wood was so young!

  • wow Elijah Wood from lord of the rings is on minute 1:44 and 3:36 lol

  • @kindom2010 Yes. Sad, pensive Elijah. This was his debut, if I'm not mistaken.

  • I wanna learn how to dance like that

  • Great video. The kids in it are really talented. Wonder if any of them..other then Elijah, went further with their career.

  • I'm 15. A girl. I'm in love with 80s music. It makes me so mad that i can't go back in time to listen to this music, this generation. I would rather watch this Paula.. then how she kind of is now! UGH! <3

  • @McAshlovesbiebs92 lol.. firstly that is so cool but weird to think u were born in the mid-90s.. i was born in the early 80s, am totally obsessed with 80s and early 90s music. But i was just too young to remember or appreciate it at the time, except for some early 90s my earliest memories. Though i sometimes wonder if its just nostalgia for when i was younger, i feel its more than that.. just an era i totally relate to, identify with. Even if i was alive at the time, before my time lol

  • @McAshlovesbiebs92 ....... don't let your age be a factor in what music you like to listen to ....... enjoy it all .....

  • @GotYerBackinVA I know, i do enjoy it all, i was just pointing out that even in my generation i still listen to songs like this always.

  • @McAshlovesbiebs92 She's the same Paula but THINNER. And, if you're going to say something bout the drugs and alcohol shit, please keep it to yourself. A true Paula fan knows Paula haven't changed a bit and she's does not take recreational drugs, or drinks. Just saying. :D

  • @MeganxoLovesxoSaula Oh, you've got it all wrong lol, i didn't mean anything about drugs i meant seeing her as like a judge and stuff on american idol, like i rather see her sing. i said nothing about drugs :p

  • @McAshlovesbiebs92 Ok then. I was just cheking. Didn't mean to snap like that. My bad :D

  • @MeganxoLovesxoSaula lol, it's all good!

  • @McAshlovesbiebs92 15 and love 80's music.. thats sad.

  • @McAshlovesbiebs92 im 12 and I HATE JUSTIN BIEBER AND OTHER SHIT! LOVE THIS CINDA MUSIC!

  • @McAshlovesbiebs92 thank god for youtube, cause you have the chance to listen to it as much as you want now. When I was 15, it was 1994, no internet, no cd's, no flat screens and computers, 80's and 90's where a great time, big hair, loud clothes and the BEST MUSIC.

  • @mjwible27 CDs existed in 1985. Personal computers in 1977 and by 1994 millions of people had AOL. You must have lived in Africa.

  • @gaguy1967 You're real fucking funny, you should quit your job and become a comedian.

In 1985 I was watching VHS, never seen or hear of a CD then.

Yeah, look up the stats from 1980 for personal home computers against today moron,1980, IDC estimated that 327,000 desktop computers, were sold in the United States

In 2000, the industry's best year to date, around 132 million PCs were shipped worldwide.

I bet in 1994 if you asked the avg person if they had internet, AOL or web access

  • @mjwible27 Dumbass..CDs were available in 1984, i remember. They even have them in the movie Wedding Singer which takes place in 1985. Since youre talking about VHS, maybe youre confused between DVDs and CDs..CDs are music moron. In 1994, most people had personal computers and AOL came out in 1992 I think. It was expensive like $3 per hour to use. Everything you mentioned existed in 1994.

  • @gaguy1967 They would look at you like the stupid idiot you are.

Next time don't respond to someone and make yourself look like a complete ass, good day to you GayGuy1967

  • @mjwible27 You look like the idiot. I see youre a 9-11 Toofer also.

  • @gaguy1967 Yeah, I look sexy, keep on admiring me gay guy. I'm sorry, come again?

  • @gaguy1967 What about Africa? Are you the one who thinks Africa is some jungle? Shame on you! We had a much better life without those CDs, DVDs and what not!

  • @mjwible27 yeah

  • That girl looks like one of the Olsen twins .

  • It would be cool of one of these kids dancing in the video could comment. I wonder if they're still dancing/acting.

  • @Rach84 one of the kids is Elijah Wood, most commonly recognized as Frodo Baggins(:

  • @UberUltraTigger I know... it's the other kids I was wondering about.

  • my number one favorite paula abdul single. i get all nostalgic and happy hearing pop music from the past.

  • Elijah and Trevor!

  • my first cd's were paula! yea baby. i'm 13 again!

  • elijah ! <3

  • Elijah is in this!

  • 1:55 ELIJAH! <3

  • REAL music......REAL talent

  • She's so sweet. Dancing in the rain puddles with the kids at 2:53. She can dance, she can sing, she's genuinely pretty, and she's actually a nice person. Where are that pop stars like this nowadays?

  • Comment removed

  • I wish I could have been in this music video then--I was 5 years old, around the age of some of the kids in it!! what a classic.

  • WHO IN THE WORLD IS THAT MAN SINGING WITH Paula I CAN'T FIND HIS NAME ITS LIKE HE DOESNT WANT CREDIT FOR IT!

  • Paula had what music was made of back then. Now music is not music, it's just looking good in next to nothing, and all about looks. She could dance, and sing. I used to carry my little karyoke machine around when I was 7 and sing her music like a little diva...I loved it. Still do love it to this very day.

  • Paula had what music was made of back then. Now music is music, it's just looking good in next to nothing, and all about loooks. She could dance, and sing. I used to carry my little karyoke machine around when I was 7 and sing her music like a little diva...I loved it. Still do love it to this very day.
