Tom is a true artist. Akin to the great painters, he draws beautiful brush lines on the ocean's breaking waves. He is also so instinctive in his grasp of the rythmn of the swell. I recall him as a youth at Hammonds. He'd be way inside carving up the little surf near shore, getting great little tubes, then he'd paddle out to the peak to snatch the big ones, doing similar masterful work, then back to carve the inside... the rest of us hodads agape sitting on the peak waiting.
