I'm from SE KY, and so far everything looks awesome to me. I don't feel at all as though this game is reinforcing any negative stereotypes whatsoever. I also love how the female character seems to be based on Loretta Lynn!
Absolutely beautiful trailer. I'm really interested to see how this turns out.
I'd also like to know who made this version of the song. I've heard a couple of other renditions of it, including one by His Name Is Alive, but this version is stunning.
I doubt it... nobody who actually lived in Kentucky would name the characters Junebug, Ezra & Conway. We live in the year 2011 & people still think that people from Kentucky are backwards hillbillies.... Its a crying shame.
Well it looks like it was created to look like it was set in mixed 1920's/1930's generation, so it is plausible. I was just curious since I live in KY and would be interested in helping with the project.
@TheShadowBrigade Hey thanks for checking the video out & sharing your thoughts. I'm totally sympathetic to your concern about Kentucky & its people being misrepresented as "backwards hillbillies." We're doing our best to be sensitive to the existence of those stereotypes, and undermine them where we can. The inspiration for the game is Kentucky's cultural history so expect a lot of bluegrass, bourbon and huge, mysterious caves -- but we're trying not to oversimplify the place & its people!
@brewskhee We're from Illinois but have friends+family in Kentucky. Most of the ideas for this game came from a visit to Kentucky+Tennessee this past summer, and from research about its cultural history afterwards. Thanks for checking it out!
Awesome trailer. I can't wait to see more and really hope it gets picked up by PSN as Sony has been adding tons of indie games lately. I shall be pledging $ to get it up and running.

@TheGameSquid After much work, I've found out who sang this; it's Bill Monroe, and the song title is "This World Is Not My Home." Hope this helps. :)

Looks like a beautiful game, I hope there is a lot of depth to explore with these six lost souls.

I would love to know the artists behind this song. I know the name, but this rendition is just amazing.
Speaking of amazing, this game looks to be something special.
