i like what he said about the food but you could also say if you wouldnt eat it why give it to your herd ours are fed on hay, grass, maze, and waste left over from brewing
`happy cows`?? at no time did i see 1 sec. of grass under their feet or fresh air?? this is a `nice` profitable factory if that`s the only value we have.
nice video, I wish that my dairy farm would come as near as operational as this farm. Way to go rosendale, I support you all the way. Nice cows, very good environment and care, I wish to see more farms that reach an ideal level such as this farm
dude, i dont mean to tell u how to run ur business, but from one dairy farmer to another, you need to source sand thats cleaned with clean water (eg not river or recycled water) as it may contain pathogens that will get in the sand n thus potentially cause mastitis. jus thought id let u no as it helped us reduce our mastits rates (altho i am happy n proud to say due to our teams hard work n attention to detail we were already below the national average =).) as u no less mastitis = more profit,
Milking of cows still reduces their lives by a considerable amount. That's why I dont support the dairy industry, and thats why I dont like this video
@theclad123 Where did you hear that milking cows reduces their lifespan? That's silly. My brother and I had cows that were so old the black markings had all turned grey. They lived like princesses with very special treatment because of their age.
@theclad123 Dude, or probably, dudette, it's a business. You breed a cow so she will start another lactation and also produce offspring. Half of which will be female and be milked in 2 years. The other half will have a beef producing career. The cow you are trying to protect would not exist if there was not a need for her. You make it sound like a farmer just rounds up cows from the wild and starts milking them. You are pathetically naive.
Way to go, I love your state of the art equipment. The cows looking healthy and comfortable. This is how all of God's creatuers should live. I'm very impressed with your dairy farm, and may God continue bless you. This makes me smile after crying from viewing how horribly cows are treated on factory farms, drastic difference.
i would be a vegie or vegan if I could,.. but my metabolic type needs to eats some meat... ... "like laying on a beach" ? What about billy joe I'll bet you have a billy joe working there raping and beating the cows who produce food for us worthless shitbags that are now called americans... What happened to our country, were we always this fucking lame or is in a new thing???
@Narcissistic21 "Thanks for not abusing those babies?" How do you think these cows make milk? They have to be impregnated first. What do you think happens to the MALE calves that cow gives birth to?
ALL male calves are sent off to become veal calves. VEAL! They get chaines by the neck, confined to tiny crates not big enough to lay down or even turn around. They are fed iron-deficient diets, NEVER allowed to have their mother's milk, and they are slaughtered after only a few months. A cow would normally live at least TWENTY YEARS!
Almond milk is JUST as thick and refreshing as cow's milk if not MORE! And it is absolutely delicious!
@BenStrothmann Have you ever been to a veal farm? Calfs are not put in small crates where the can't turn around or lay down think about it. It is farmers best interest to keep the calf as healthy as possible so they can be profitable. Putting them in a crate that small where they can't lay down doesn't happen. People like you who have never been to a farm should not comment all you do is spread bullshit rumers about something you don't hace a clue about
@BenStrothmann kid that's not how the veal farm's are at all. the calves would not live long and wouldn't be healthy if they were in crates. don't comment if u have no idea what a farm is like. you're obciously a city punk that know fuck all
@bradley4741 Regardless of what I know or don't know -- why do we need to raise calves for veal at all? How does this benefit the cow? How does this benefit the calf? How does this benefit the environment? Who says we have the rights to decide how these creatures get to spend their lives?
Alright that whole cow pollution is false. COWS POLLUTE A LOT LESS THAN WE DO!! when they say a cows make up 3% of pollution they factor in trucking and things that would happen with any other business. These barns are kept in supreme condition and cleaned constantly. I doubt this farm would use antibiotics. All you vegan people stop letting organizations brain-wash you so they can make money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
actually milking three times a day relieves stress because the dont have to carry the weight of there milk as long, i live on a dairy and we milk 3x a day and our cows produce lots more because they have less stress and cows produce alot more when they are not stressed, so we are helping the cows to keep them happier and healthier and also making us money at the same time.
This isn't a farm it is a factory. and for the sand part they said at the tour is is not dry when they respread it. dont get me wrong it is a nice farm (for being new) lets see what it looks like in a few years.
@TheSalbot all cows are exposed to antibiotics. but the thing that people don't know is that it is illegal for farmers to sell milk that contains antibiotics. milk gets tested at the farm when it gets picked up. then the whole truckload gets tested when it gets to the plant. if any traces of antibiotics are found, they trace it back to the farmer resposible and the farmer has to pay for the whole truckload because it must be dumped out. farmers don't risk selling milk that contains antibiotics.
"We feed our cows better than humans." You have got to be kidding.
How can this man begin to believe his own lies.
When I'm lying on a beach, I have the freedom to get up and go into the water, play with my son. These cows are CAPTIVE with no control or choice in their lives. Their babies are taken away from them at 1-2 days after birth.
many large farms like this one are installing methane digesters to produce electricity. also the manure produced is used for fertilizer, adding needed nutrients and organic matter to the soil, instead of buying commercial fert. and happy comfortable cows just produce more milk. and thats what every farmer wants
Oh I missed that environmentally sound bit. Question? How many tons of cow sh!t does your farm produce annually? and more importantly how many tons of methan gas does your farm produce annually? Environmentally sound LMAO
you are an idiot vegan fuck. think of all the employment this farm creates. one big farm replaces several small ones, that would produce just as much, if not more wastes. all of that manure thats produced is used as fertilizer, reducing the use of synthetics, and a lot of these big farms use the methane to produce energy. get yourself educated before you open your organic seaweed eating mouth. should we all go back to living in huts because society rejects you? get hit by a train. twice
Yeah, whats so bad about cow shit? Its all natural. And the methane gas part it a small portion of the worlds problem. It you want to bitch about methane problems go bother some industry that produces tons of it. Learn the facts before you open your mouth. Tired of all these god damn true huggers bitching about stuff. The dairy industry is one of the best environmentally friendly industry around. Get the facts straight. Fuckin Dumb ass
I think they would be happier caring for their off spring. Tell me are they allowed to do that, I didn't see any babys. Whats your defination of what their happy doing?

the only thing is milking 3 times day he puts a cow in a lot of stress at my dairy we only milk 2 times its all about the money
terceira 2 years ago
It's acually less stressful for the cow as is only having a third of her production versus fifty percent as with twice daily milking.
